Mama Gao's food truly stands out for its authenticity and flavor. Each dish takes me back to the familiar and comforting tastes of my childhood, reminding me of the meals my mother used to cook.

One of the best dumplings I've ever had it.

Food was yummy. We went for an early lunch and sat right down. Service was prompt and professional. I had Thai greenbeans, such big portions, like a family dish, a great deal.

It was a really enjoyable experience! The food was all very good. Kind of pricey, but it’s a good location and they give you a lot of food so it evens out. I was pleasantly surprised with how many wontons were in my wonton soup. 6-7! The “vegetable egg roll” was delicious, but it was definitely a spring roll and you only get one. So I may not get that again. My husband got the sweet and sour chicken with chow mein. The wonton soup had a fish baste.

Update: 5/1/25 back today ordered our regular beef chow fun my favorite, and the boiled beef with chili sauce still bubbling when it came out hubby loved the beef as well as the boiled fish version of this. Just good amount of spice. Must try if you eating there. We took home the boiled beef use the sauce to add tofu to make another meal for and it’s as good as eating in the restaurant. This is our go to place when we craving for Chinese comfort foods. Love the family that run this place. They treat you like close friend!! ❤️ We ate here twice already, both times the foods were fresh and tasty. Good Chinese comfort foods, we ordered the dry beef chow fun and a szychuen beef combo for lunch on our first visit, we finished both and loved them so much we came for dinner 2 days later we had spicy fish and Singapore noodle w shrimps both were great too. You can ask for less salt if you prefer, they are very flexible. Lot of returned customers came here so you know they are good and consistently making fresh & tasty foods. I don’t mind eat here everyday if I am near by. Very friendly family work here, give them a try if you re in the neighborhood, you will keep coming for more to try others because they cooked everything into perfection!!

Generous portions, fresh ingredients, very reasonable pricing and incredibly yummy! Combine that with the genuine kindness they show every time you walk in the door and you can't lose! Today we had the Kung Pao Beef, Almond Fried Chicken and BBQ pork fried rice. You can taste that the rice was made on a well seasoned grill, just like it should be! I am really picky about where I spend money if I'm eating out, but I am happy to spend it here. I cannot believe that there is never a mile long wait to get a table!

If you’re craving Chinese takeout, this is the spot. I don’t like most places’ orange chicken but theirs is lightly breaded and crispy in a real orange sauce. Their fried rices (we’ve tried a few) are all great, so is their beef chow fun.

Ordered several items for guests I was having over. Everything was absolutely amazing. The chicken was super crispy on the outside (even with being marinated in sauce) and extremely juicy on the inside. The mapo tofu tasted like a homemade meal you would want to eat on a cozy day. Would highly recommend to anyone craving Chinese food :)

Very close to Seattle Art Muesum. Not an authentic Chinese restaurant for Chinese but still very tasty. Highly recommend DanDan Noodle and spicy beef. Staffs are also friendly and welcoming.

Food was prepared very well. All the dishes served looked almost exactly as they did on the menu. Service was quick and the portion size was not too big and not too small. Price was also very fair.

The food was really tasty! We had leftover sauce after finishing the noodles, and they let us order three more. The scallion pancakes were good as well as the veggie roles. The curry sauce was tasty, but I don’t think I’d pay the $2 upgrade charge to get it next time. I definitely want to come back to try the other flavors. Vegan options clearly marked, and I love how they can open the windows in the restaurant to give you the fresh outdoor air.

Tried this during our visit in Seattle. We tried the signature pork ribs version. The noodles were good and chewy, and the sauce was good. The beef felt overcooked so it's not tender to my liking. The ribs were tender and much better in comparison. We loved the honey chicken wings btw. Very addictive and I couldn't stop eating them! The noodles felt pricey but nonetheless it was a decent place.

Good for what it was, so much onion that wasn’t pictured on the picture of it. The flavor is there but also not really, adding Siracha made it somewhat tolerable. I also wish they added Chinese broccoli or something $90 on 2 meals 2 drinks and a soup. 😅prawns+broccoli added beef with medium rice and orange chicken with large rice and large egg drop soup which were all really good 2 sprite

they delivered quickly and the chicken was still crunchy! we got the spicy garlic tofu and the honey walnut chicken. they were both really good!! we got the large (32oz) or rice to go along with our two entrees and it was more than enough! :)

What a lovely spot! Very nice lady serving and the food is perfectly cooked and high quality. The salt and pepper fish is masterfully fried and flaky. The eggplant is soft and flavorful with the perfect amount of corn starch in the sauce. The beef ho fun has incredibly tender beef and satisfying noodles. I would recommend coming in to eat at one of the four tables and having a pot of tea with dinner!

Lived in the UDistrict for five years now and only just now discovered it! Some of the best Chinese (maybe Chinese American food) I’ve ever had. I order takeout at least once a month as it is literally my favorite restaurant. It’s in an unassuming spot and I would never have thought to come by until I was craving some honey walnut shrimp and saw that they sold it. My partner and I love it and think it’s literally some of the best we’ve ever had. It’s so crunchy and saucy! I also love getting the sugared biscuits and crab wontons as these were some of my favorite childhood eats. It’s also a small local business that looks like it’s only run by a wife and most likely her husband. I’ve never dined in before but they do have around four tables of four to sit at :)

Don't let the exterior fool you. There's good eats to be found here. They have the classic Chinese dishes you'd expect, and they do it really well. I tried the Beef Chow Funn Gravy Style today and it's now my go-to dish. Everything about it was delicious, and I can't wait for my leftovers for lunch tomorrow. They also make their orange chicken, general tso's, and sesame chicken with a batter before it's fried, and it always turns out great. It somehow remains crispy. I think if you're craving Chinese take-out, this place will hit the spot. Also, if you're looking for a big portion, then you definitely need to come here.

Literally my favorite restaurant ever. My family has been going here for my whole life and it's like comfort food for me. Everything is soooo delicious, but my favorites are the General TSO's Chicken, which has the right amount of sweet and spice, the handmade Chow Mein that comes with beef and brocolli, and the Egg Drop Soup. Also try the egg rolls, crab Rangoon, and honestly anything because it's going to be delicious. The family who runs the business is so kind and professional, especially the owner, who is just the sweetest woman. Love Fu Shen so much!! 💗

This is a Chinese restaurant, but even my African friend loved it! The food is so flavorful and authentic, with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. We tried the noodles, soup dumplings, and some other dishes, and everything was amazing. The service was friendly and quick, and the atmosphere was very comfortable. Definitely a great spot for anyone who loves delicious food, no matter where you're from!

so glad to have a good chinese restaurant in the area. XLB were delicious and probably the best beef noodle i’ve had in the city. not mind blowing, but very solid comfort food in a nice setting. food came with a pot of hot jasmine green tea as well.

I was excited to try Chuan BBQ from looking at the positive reviews, and I quickly realized during my meal that all the positive reviews were fake, and the negative reviews were truthful about this restaurant. The owner is an asian UW graduate, and you can notice that all the glowing reviews are from asian reviewers, which are likely the owner's friends doing tons of reviews to falsely prop up the business. None the less, I gave it a go, and bought quite a large variety of items (screenshot of order provided). For starters, it looks like the little "grills" on the table would contribute to grilling/cooking the food, but unfortunately its just for show to keep your food warm - under the foil, are 2 wax small candles. This was clearly communicated when you are seated. There are a few pros to this restaurant, but the cons far outweigh the pros. For that reason, I give it a 2/5. This place did not initially offer karaoke, but im assuming this was implemented to help get more people into the door. Pros: - The owner is super nice & friendly, and pretty attentive to the tables - The spicy cumin flavor that was used is quite tasty and balanced well - sweet/salty/spicy - When they grill the items, they were cooked well, and not over/under cooked - Karaoke room is free for customers if it is not occupied. Cons: - The price for what you get & portions are not the best - Almost every single grilled item on the menu uses the exact same seasoning, and a little too liberally. Proof in the pictures - The repitive seasoning overpowers the taste of the actual ingredient, and it borderline hides the quality/freshness of what was cooked. Most of the items seemed like it was from frozen and not fresh, except for the grilled mushrooms - I ordered 10 different grilled items, and they all had the exact same taste/seasoning, with some items with way too much seasoning - Beef Tongue, Beef Tendon, Pork Belly, Hot Iron Squid, grilled yellow croaker, bullfrog leg, grilled fish tofu, japanese grilled fish (mackrel), Grilled muishrooms, grilled beef meatball - When serving water, there was no matching cups, and while its not a big deal for me, it can be for others. While most reviews are 5 stars here, look at the lower rated reviews, as they will provide an actual unbaised glimpse into what you're getting yourself into. I'm glad to have tried it, but i will not be coming back again.

Chuan BBQ was a complete disappointment, far from what the glowing Google reviews might suggest. Despite the inviting photos I took, this restaurant turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I took my wife on a Friday night, it was the worst date night experience ever. Ambiance: 1/5 The restaurant had a strange, unpleasant smell upon arrival, which was a major turn-off. It’s hard to tell if this is a barbecue joint or a karaoke lounge, as the boss kept pushing karaoke services on us during the meal. Authenticity: 1.5/5 The dishes were heavily seasoned—likely to mask the lack of freshness. The chicken gristle, which should have been grilled, was inexplicably fried. We asked for extra spicy but never asked for extra salty. The grilled fish was $19 and it was unacceptable salty. I couldn’t have second bite of it . The grilled squid came last because we heard the owner talking to herself that the squid was not defrosted quick enough. When the grilled squid came , it had no grill flavor but only some sweet sauce. We have been many BBQ places in LA and China since me and my wife are both grow up there , never had such bad experiences for BBQ. Flavor: 1/5 If you’re into excessively salty food, this might be your spot. For me, it was unbearable—easily the saltiest meal I’ve ever encountered. The lukewarm barbecue didn’t help the situation either. Cost: 2/5 Considering the low quality of the food and the odd experience, this place is overpriced. Service: 2/5 The only redeeming factor was the awkwardly friendly boss, who seemed determined to upsell every dish and push karaoke. Despite that, the service pace was decent, possibly because I was visibly checking in on Yelp. Final Thoughts: Chuan BBQ is a hard pass. Between the overpowering salt, questionable food freshness, weird atmosphere, and karaoke confusion, I can’t recommend this place. Skip it and save yourself the regret.

Cliff notes version: 4 stars for the selection for their happy hour; 3 stars for the overall food. Conflicted about this review. The food was affordable but varied greatly in flavor and quality; however, the servers were well attentive and the restaurant was clean. I thoroughly enjoyed the dim sum and the spring rolls. The dill dumplings, on the other hand, left something to be desired. The dumpling was dry and overcooked. And, the tam tam noodles were far too sweet -- tasted like you dumped peanut butter into noodles I'd probably come back overall, just avoid a few items.

Nice and clean restaurant but food is pretty mediocre in terms of taste and authenticity. HK Milktea 3.5/5 - not bad but nothing outstanding either. You can find something of similar quality in an Asian market juice box. Shrimp omelette rice with “tomato sauce” 3/5 - the shrimp omelette itself is quite alright in terms of flavor and texture but the advertised tomato sauce was basically ketchup which spells a basic lack of effort. The kitchen could have done a much better job on that tomato sauce mixing a little of ketchup with actual cooked and sliced tomatoes. Just putting ketchup underneath the omelette is plain lazy. Beef noodles 3/5 - the soup was good but the noodles and beef was pretty ordinary in terms of flavor and texture. String beans 1/5 - last dish to be served on our table and the most disappointing. Just by the looks of it from the photo, you can tell it is not appealing at all. No prep work done on cutting the rough edges of it and not much flavor on the dish. Try the same dish in Din Tai Fung and you can tell the difference. Overall, the restaurant has a nice ambience but the food was very mediocre. Definitely could be better if not for a lack of trying on the kitchen’s part.
