Hunan Village Tysons
We were greeted by the sweetest woman that added a table and chair to our booth in order to accommodate our party of 5 since the other large tables were occupied. We hit a home run with everything we ordered! Get the fried chicken dumplings! (Best we’ve ever had). We also ordered Mei Fun, General Tao’s chicken, and the orange chicken.
This place is our go to place everytime we go to Walmart. The employees are super sweet and friendly. The food is always super tasty and the portion size is very good. 10% off if you pay with cash. We will definitely keep coming back.
Chili Wok
Chili Wok is a hidden gem in Vienna for anyone likes authentic Sichuan cuisine. The dishes were flavorful and spicy in the right way. My favourites were the Mala Dry Pot and Mala Beef Shank & Tofu Skin. The price was reasonable. It's perfect for a relaxed night out or a quick bite with friends. The seating area is relatively limited. Many people were doing takeouts here.
In my opinion, the best Chinese restaurant in the Fairfax/Vienna region. We order food from here almost every other week and it’s almost always a satisfying experience. We have tried 50%-75% of the entire menu, they taste great and the price is reasonable. Staff is friendly, welcoming. The restaurant itself is clean. We will continue being a regular here. This authentic restaurant deserves to be seen by more people.
Peking Express of Vienna
Great takeaway spot that we have been going to for 25 years. Food quality, quantity, and price are good and the owner is very friendly. Call ahead and pick up. Shredded chicken szechuan style is my personal favorite.
The Szechuan had zero vegetables when the owners image showed it with carrots and celery. Flavor was bland at best and there was also a bed of nasty cabbage under the food to bulk it up. They should call it snack size rather than lunch. Menu image posted.
Lotus Garden
This place has one of the best noodles in the DMV as they make it fresh for your meal. Additionally, all other choices on menu are done very well and is very authentic Chinese cuisine. One slight negative is that during busy times is can be slow as they are understaffed. But it is worth the wait. Will definitely put Lotus Garden into our regular rotation.
I can’t believe I just discovered this place after living here for so long! I randomly stumbled upon it, and it was exactly what I’d been looking for. I’m pretty sure it’s Cantonese-style Chinese food, and if you’re after that classic roast duck and crispy pork hanging in the window—along with authentic, non-Americanized dishes—this is the spot. There were so many things I wanted to try, but we settled on Hunan beef, roast duck, vegetable lo mein, and Buddha’s Delight. We shared everything family-style, though I’m pretty sure I ate most of it myself! The flavors were incredibly authentic and unforgettable. The menu is huge, making it tough to choose, but I can’t wait to go back and try more!
Mandarin
A great neighborhood American Chinese restaurant. Nothing fancy about it but it's always reliably delicious. The steamed meat wontons are huge, the dumpling wrapper is thick and chewy and the filling is very tasty - we always get an order of these. The general tsos is well fried and sauced so the chicken still has a crisp but still has a ton of the sauce on it. The lo mein is packed with veggies and meat balanced with delicious noodles. The biggest selling point is that the serving size is very generous. We also get multiple meals out of an order.
Fantastic food, fantastic people. A DoorDash driver stole my order, I got in touch with DD support, and they said they'd redeliver. A few minutes later, Mandarin noticed that it was the same order to the same person, and called to check and make sure I wasn't mistakenly getting double charged. 11/10 customer service, I can't think of a restaurant more deserving of your business.
China Wok
when there are mostly orientalist Asians in your restaurant, you know it’s good food. The employees speak basic English and always confuse my orders, but that’s part of the fun… what will I get instead 😄 Doing this review makes me want to go get some grub for dinner.
The food here was really not that bad! The food that I was able to have was the egg drop soup and the orange chicken! The food that I was able to have here reminded me of those precious moments when I was able to have my grandfather and grandmother’s classic and wonderful egg drop soup and orange chicken back when I was in Singapore! The egg drop soup and the orange chicken allowed me to reminisce about those precious moments when I was able to break bread with my family in Singapore when we were at the hockey centers where my uncles and aunties were able to hook me up with that decadent delicious food Although this might not be the most pristine family looking area for the most part, however, the food is absolutely amazing. You’re not going in there for necessarily a service, but you’re definitely going in there for the food. For the prices that you are getting to pay at this location this is definitely a steal in somewhere where I will be back!
HUNAN DELIGHT
All dished looked and tasted the same, with overuse of sugar. If you respect the culture, respect their food. (Also group ordered delivery and got missing items.) Chinese dish is NOT cooked by first deep fry everything in oil second coat everything with sweet sauce third throw carrot and broccoli in there.
This place is a rip-off! Ordered (in person) dinner size sweet and sour pork but realized only when I got home that they overcharged me for it (see 1st pic). The total price should be $11.95 plus 6% sales tax which amounts to $12.67, but they charged me $13.05. Also the quantity of food is a joke, small pieces of pork covered in thick batter. Avoid this place by all means!!
Hunan Cafe
Lady checking me out barely communicated with me. She was busy playing online poker or something. No receipt, no thank you, no welcoming attitude. Fried rice had a strange taste. I'll still try another dish to see for sure.
The foods good, but I ordered the food, payed via card even included a tip for the driver and then when the driver arrive with my food, he gonna ask me "are you gonna pay for the food?" I told him "I paid with card" then he proceeds to hand me my food, are people not paying for deliveries? That rubbed me extremely wrong, other than that the foods good, at least what I ordered.
Lakeside Asia Cafe
Came with a large group ~15 people. There was just 1 waiter so many things were not the fastest but I would say they did an adequate job. I liked the menu a lot as almost each dish had a picture associated. Very helpful. We ordered quite a few things to share amongst us, all or most from the Signature dishes, most of which I got to try. Everything tasted good, my favorites being the Sliced Beef and Tripe in Chili Sauce, Chongqing Spicy Chicken and Spicy Sichuan Fish Fillet. I would say in general being a Sichuan style restaurant, their spicy dishes were better than non spicy. Keep in mind in the photos I attached, not all are depicting the full portion as I took the picture when the dish got to me. Portion size was generally pretty good.
Nice quiet home-style Chinese restaurant. But it is really intimidating when business owner, (not waiter), make up tip options from their heads, and even circle them out on ur bill, specially when there is no real service to pay for. Some business owners just look at tips as a pure, sweat free, income, and care about it & watch for it more than the actual meal bill it's self. Again, circling the tip options on the bill, while all the service we got was to put the food on the table is intimidating. Bill picture below 👇🏻👇🏻
