Young Chow Cafe Chinese and Thai Restaurant
I recently ordered over $60 worth of food from Young Chow Cafe, expecting a great meal that included shrimp fried rice. However, as soon as I opened the food, I noticed something was very wrong there was absolutely no shrimp in the so-called "shrimp fried rice." I called the restaurant immediately to resolve the issue. At first, a non-English speaking lady answered the phone and remained silent, offering no help. Then, a man took over the call and, shockingly, his response was "What do you want me to do?" It was dismissive and frustrating. Instead of correcting their mistake, they acted as if it wasn’t their problem. This kind of service is completely unacceptable, and it feels like the restaurant is stealing from its customers. If you're thinking about ordering from here, BEWARE! This experience left a very bad taste in my mouth - both figuratively and literally. Save yourself the hassle and take your business elsewhere.
I really wanted to like this place. I ordered Crab Rangoon, Beef on a Stick, Fried Wontons, Chicken Pad Thai, and Combination Fried Rice and unfortunately I didn’t enjoy any of it. I tried to make it work and eat what I could but the fried wontons were so hard and empty (see photos below), the Rangoon was okay. And I have to say after working in a Thai restaurant myself for 2 years, this was NOT pad Thai at all. Pad Thai is supposed to have a sweet taste and this was very plain. $59 dollars down the drain, I hope the lady enjoys her $5 tip because I didn’t enjoy any of the food :(
East Ocean Restaurant
We had the General Tso's Chicken, Shrimp Lo Mein and Szechuan Beef. All except the Lo Mein came with a side of white rice. We had take out but the food was still steaming hot when we got home, which was a nice bonus. Overall the flavor, and heat and portions of the food were on point, except the Szechuan beef for which the portion of beef left us wanting more. Extra bonus that the meat was halal. Wished the takeout had come with utensils.
Amazing place for Chinese. Dined in, the manager Ying was serving us the whole time. She even played with our 1 year old, excellent service. Food was out quick. Had the General Tso’s Chicken, Crispy Beef, Lo Mein and Vegetable Fried Rice. Everything was delicious! The rice was fluffy and full of flavor. Both Chicken and Beef were rich, crispy and flavorful. Everything certified Halal as well. Will definitely be back!
Asian Garden
This is our favorite Chinese Restaurant in Haymarket. The sushi is to die for. It is so fresh. Sad to hear the sushi bar will be closed on Mondays. The shrimp and broccoli and combination fried rice is a must have. Check them out you won’t regret it!
I ordered 1 Pork String Bean with extra brown sauce, I Egg Drop Soup and 1 Wonton Soup around 730. I was very surprised that my order to go was ready in less than 7 min. But, the real surprise was when I got home. What I got were soggy green beans in DILUTED brown sauce—the sauce was literally like water! The soups were tasteless! Even the only 1 small container of rice was dried out! I honestly feel that what I received was what was to be thrown out when “they” closed for the night! I threw much of the “food” away, but saved some to return to the VERY disrespectful woman I spoke to when I called about my complaint! I recommend going to Giant next door to buy a bag of PF Chang frozen dinner!
