China Grill
China Grill: A Hidden Gem in Salt Lake City Surpassing Expectations Coming from the San Francisco Bay Area, where there's no shortage of excellent Chinese cuisine, I naturally have high expectations for Chinese food elsewhere. During our visit to Salt Lake City, we stumbled upon a modest eatery named China Grill. Despite its unassuming appearance and the food's ordinary presentation, we were pleasantly surprised by the exceptional taste that far exceeded our expectations, making our dining experience truly unforgettable. We ordered a variety of dishes, including Singapore rice noodles, spicy beef, sour and sweet soup, and egg drop soup. Each dish was remarkable for its authentic flavor and quality, particularly the chicken in the Singapore rice noodles, which was exceptionally soft and tender—a rarity in many places. Curious about this, we learned from the owner, Mr. 颜章, that the secret lies in marinating the chicken in a mixture of soda and water for several hours or overnight. This meticulous approach to ingredient preparation showcases China Grill's passion and dedication to cooking. More than just serving delicious meals, Mr. 颜章 was incredibly welcoming, sharing with us not only his cooking secrets but also recommendations for local attractions and his personal stories. In a world dominated by fast food and convenience, finding a place like China Grill, where there's a genuine love for food and a willingness to engage with customers on a personal level, is truly rare. For anyone visiting Salt Lake City or locals in search of the essence of authentic Chinese cuisine, China Grill is a must-visit. It's not just about the food; it's an experience filled with warmth, shared stories, and delightful flavors. Updated: we came back on the second day. 干炒牛河 and kung pao chicken are good too.
The staff was very welcoming upon entering. We ordered “Togo” but the inside seating looked plentiful and clean. Food quality is excellent and you get your money’s worth. Food was hot and tasty (flavorful). They are able to accommodate for both the meat eaters and vegetarians. Would recommend trying. Price point is a little high but again meals can be shared.
Mint Tapas and Sushi 2 (Cottonwood Heights)
Everything we ordered were well plated, very nice presentation and tasted sooo good 😋 The place is clean and well maintained. Service is greeeat and our Server Kristin is the best - very professional, friendly and very accomodating 👌💪 awesome job! We'll surely be back to try the other items in their menu.
Wonderful creative drinks sushi & Tapas. The art of beautiful eating is very alive at Mint! Seared salmon is to die for. I up here with friends, thinking Id be drinking dinner (have a shellfish allergy & an aversion to raw meat). So I started with a whiskey /juice cocktail (i think it had cranberry & orange) served artfully in a red wine glass. Then, aftwr i said id just be drinking, our outstanding server recommended the seared salmon (he said go with “extra sauce” - great reco), and edamame - both were top shelf! I left pleasantly full, and happy - Ill def be back!
Mountain City Chinese Restaurant
We loove getting take out from Mountain City! Cashew chicken and peking beef are our go-to favorites. Food is delicious, always fresh! And I love their rice too. Stoked to find yummy chinese take out so close to home. Highly recommend.
Been wanting some good hot and sour soup for quite some time so stopped in at this little place to check it out. Service was excellent. food was great and prices were reasonable which is something you don't see much these days . I highly recommend this place if you're looking for good Chinese.
Thai Orchid
Me & my nephew were looking for Thai food & came here. It's a very small place, & they don't even have a restroom for their customers. So we ended up walking out of this place. We never ordered any food. Was quite disappointed.
No table service though you can sit with your takeout at one of their tables. Run by a very nice Thai family who serve an Americanized version (sweet & mild) of Thai classics.
Tosh’s Ramen Holladay
I have gone to Tosh Ramen downtown for years, it’s nice to have one a little closer to Utah County. I love their Karai (spicy) ramen and my kids love their Blend, their broth is the best! The gyoza is well steamed and the portions are generous.
Tosh’s Ramen in Holladay deserves 5 stars for its warm hospitality and lively atmosphere! We were greeted promptly and seated, setting the tone for a great experience. Even though we waited briefly to be served, a staff member brought us water and reassured us that someone would assist us shortly. Our waitress, who was managing the entire restaurant, deserves major kudos for her friendly demeanor and positive attitude despite the rush. She even apologized for the wait, which we appreciated. The gyoza were a standout—an absolute 10/10! While the tonkotsu ramen and spicy ramen were good, they didn’t blow us away. Still, the speed at which our food arrived, considering how busy it was, was impressive. The lively vibe and the staff’s dedication to keeping everyone happy made it a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend!
