Janbo Express
Janbo Express is what affordable Chinese takeout dreams are made of. Located in the Hidden Valley Shopping Center strip mall, Janbo offers a standard menu of American-Chinese fare. The combination plates (lunch or dinner) are the winners. The sweet & sour chicken with the sesame chicken is fantastic! All the sauces are good, but can be overly sweet. That becomes noticeable before you finish the entree. I really like the fried rice. It's surprisingly good. The service is always friendly. It's family-owned, which adds to the overall appeal. It's a small dining room, but there has always been an open table. Doing takeout is an easy process, and the food quality holds up during transit.
I have never eaten in but have ordered through door dash and online. We love their lemon chicken! It comes not covered in sauce so it’s not soggy to start with and leftovers are good. Other things are good to. My kids like the orange chicken, the noodle dishes (I like these well enough but it is a little like spaghetti with a soy based sauce) When we want a lot of Chinese food for not a ton of money this is our go to.
Vietopia Bistro
I usually like this place but I went in today and it was subpar. First off there was NO HAND SOAP!! how are the cooks washing their hands? The guy working there said he “was getting soap tomorrow.” Not okay. Next we order the bahn mi….the bread was crumbly and stale..even after I returned the first one the second one was the same. Barely any meat in it. Also not okay. Get it together.
Three of us came in for lunch. It took forever for us to get food, and there was only one other table sat in the restaurant. The bowls were all chipped up. The meat is sliced very thick and didn’t get cooked very well in the broth. Basil was wilted, and the bean sprouts were not fresh. Pho wasn’t that good. The atmosphere was cold and had a very loud machine sound.
