Wen Wah Chinese Restaurant
From the moment I walked through the doors of Wen Wah Chinese Restaurant, I felt like I was stepping into a warm embrace. The inviting aromas, the gentle hum of conversations, and the friendly smiles of the staff made it clear that this is not just a restaurant; it's a place that genuinely cares about its customers. Every dish that arrived at our table was a masterpiece. The flavors were rich, authentic, and cooked to perfection. I could taste the love and tradition in every bite, from the delicate dumplings that melted in my mouth to the sizzling, aromatic stir-fries that burst with flavor. It's clear that the chefs here treat every meal like a work of art, pouring their passion and dedication into every detail. But what truly sets Wen Wah apart is not just the food, as incredible as it is, but the experience. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, like we were family. They took the time to share stories about the dishes, recommend their personal favorites, and even check in to make sure everything was perfect. I’ve visited many restaurants, but few have left an impression on my heart quite like Wen Wah. It's rare to find a place that combines exquisite food with such warmth and sincerity. You can tell that the owner has poured their heart and soul into every aspect of this place, and it shows. I left not just with a full stomach but with a full heart, and that’s a feeling you don’t forget. If you’re looking for more than just a meal, if you’re looking for a place that feels like home, come to Wen Wah. You won’t be disappointed.
My son and went there for lunch today and the food was absolutely delicious!!! The food was steaming hot and fresh when it was served to us. We ordered beef mushrooms and shrimp lomein. There was hardly any waiting for our food...it was fast!!! The service was excellent and the server was very friendly too. The only reasons I didn't score it a perfect 5 stars is 1) the 32oz foundation drink was $3 and 2) the sitting area needs to be refreshed. For example, a new coat of paint and new pictures on the wall. Otherwise, the food and service is EXCELLENT!!! I give the overall rating 4.75 STARS!!!
Suck It Asian Kitchen
Love the atmosphere and the food! Super cute location and the food comes out fast! We only tried the ramen this time, and I loved the chicken one! I subbed the fried chicken for pork because fried foods in soup is weird to me, and I think it's how I'll order it every time!! We'll come back next time for the drinks!
Great spot for ramen! It was walking distance from the hubub of the River Walk, and felt so nice and welcoming. The staff was very helpful, as my brain was a little toast from travel. I enjoyed the shoyu ramen. The pork belly was really nice, and so were the ramen eggs. I was flying solo, but I would gladly come back with a larger party and order appetizers and make a bigger dinner of it. Great place, awesome atmosphere with the armor sets against the wall and lanterns on the ceiling.
Alamo Beer Company
The place is very chill, and the beer I got (Ultimus) was really good. We got the giant pretzel with beer cheese, very nice. Across the place was a food truck were we got some chilaquiles with brisket 🤤, really vast and fulfilling, and a chicken quesadilla, very good as well. The only thing the place lacks is more advertisement
Hidden gem here is worth a visit. Nice location under the Historic Hays St. Bridge. Plenty of parking (which is starting to be a pain in SA), huge patio, outdoor games with shade from the Hays St. Bridge, and a skatepark next door if that's your thing. Wifi available as well so I'll be back to meander through some work with a pint or two. Beer was great and well priced. I got the Texas Juicy IPA which had a very punchy tropical citrus hit thay was very refreshing. My wife got the Hayz Street IPA, a more standard, less fruity, well-rounded Hazy IPA. Both were great, and we'll be back to try the rest soon. The food truck outside hooked it up as well. I got a pulled pork sandwich that was excellent. My wife got the loaded Brisket nachos, and let me tell you... that brisket... world class. I'm not a potato salad fan myself, but my wife said it was the best she had ever had, going out of her way to tell the cook. Basically, everything on our plate was excellent. Can't find a fault here, honestly.
