Won BBQ
Tried this place for lunch on Saturday. We got the seafood pancake and bbq beef combo A. With the side dishes and the cheese corn, soup, and salad that came with the combo, my mom and I were stuffed with leftovers for later. The beef quality was amazing and service was great! Place is also very clean as well and the cocktails we had were very tasty! I say that the price was worth it. I'm sure we'll be back!
The barbecue here was absolutely delicious, though I think part of that came from the server cooking everything for us. The meat was perfectly smoky with just the right amount of crisp. We ordered the Beef B set, which included a generous variety of beef cuts alongside some vegetables. The experience felt like a show in itself, especially when flames occasionally erupted from the grill—it reminded me of those hibachi-style restaurants. The side dishes that came with the Beef B were so good they disappeared within seconds. The cheese corn was wonderfully creamy and cheesy but still light in flavor, while the soup was warm and comforting. All the banchans were enjoyable, except for the scallion pancake, which was cold and felt a little stale. The other dishes on the menu were equally great. The Volcano Hot Pot especially, with a perfect balance of sweetness and savoriness. The vegetables were fresh and the meat tender. Again, it was cool watching the server cook it. Overall, the great flavors and the entertaining cooking process made for a really memorable dining experience!
Chef Sun's Noodle and Dumpling Plano
Partner loves dim sum, so we came here for date night. We got the green beans, chicken fried rice, the colorful dumplings, and some pork soup dumplings. I’d say the dumplings were creative and I don’t regret getting them, I don’t think I would again. There was also a musky taste to the soup dumplings that wasn’t terrible but was unexpected based on previous ones I’ve had. The chicken fried rice was good, but a bit heavy on the soy and lacking distinct amounts of egg. The green beans were the star of the show for me, and I really liked them and would order again a thousand times over. The service was attentive and quick. We got all of our dishes within 10-15 minutes with the fried rice coming out in less than 5. I would return here and focus more around the regular dumplings and maybe try some other options!
A nice restaurant with a wide variety of options. The Biang Biang noodles, which are very popular, were pretty good. I do think that with a bit more flavor they would've been delicious. I also personally prefer to have been more spicy but I understand why they avoided that. We also had the Mongolian beef and Boiled Fish in Hot sauce. Both were fine, but not exceptional. In general it seems to be a reliable but not overpriced Chinese restaurant. May come back to sample the dumplings.
Shanghai Dynasty
Shanghai Dynasty recently opened and we were excited to try this place out as there’s not many Shanghainese options available. This place wasn’t too busy when we arrived around 6pm on a Sunday evening. The staff was really helpful in recommending dishes that fit our palate. There’s a good amount of seafood available and everything we ordered came out really tasty. One thing we appreciated is that they will cook your seafood in your preferred style. The prices are slightly elevated, but you’re paying a premium for some really good food.
Authentic Shanghai / Schezuan Chinese food that is a must try for all. It is a very authentic menu, much different from the typical American-Chinese restaurants. All items are freshly prepared, large shareable portions and super delicious. The place used to Tai Zhong and is now under new management and slightly modified menu. The new place is amazingly designed, well kept, clean and service is friendlier than Tai Zhong. They also have seating for large groups / families, like 3 or 4 private rooms for a different dining experience. Overall the place is super clean and is a must visit for some great Chinese food. Must try is the spicy fried chicken, fish in spicy soup, kung pao chicken, soup dumplings and fried rice.
CHINA PEARL RESTAURANT
Tried this new dim sum spot in Plano. The place is clean and nicely decorated. Unfortunately, the food was quite bland and lacked the flavors you’d expect from good dim sum. On top of that, it felt overpriced for the quality. It has potential, but the taste and value just didn’t hit the mark. Hopefully, it improves over time.
First location in Texas of a Boston-based restaurant that serves Boston lobster and authentic, fresh Chinese food. I’m pretty picky when it comes to Chinese food because sometimes it can be greasy and overly salty, and it was the opposite here which was great! Overall the food was delicious and fresh. Great service. We had orange chicken, steamed clams in black bean sauce, salt and pepper prawns, siu mai dumplings, lobster with garlic vermicelli. We came for dinner and will come back for dim sum - they push carts on the weekend during dim sum / brunch hours! Currently they’re doing a soft open. Grand opening is May 1st.
Custer Wok
Great food, exactly what you want/expect. Great prices, so nice, and they’re super fast with delivery. I’ve ordered from them probably 5-10 times and have never been disappointed :)
The food is actually so good. Recommend the chicken lo mein. I got an entire plate for such a good price. It’s the perfect hole in the wall family style restaurant. If you want good and authentic. Go here.
