New Ming Chinese Restaurant
Spice C
I recently visited and tried a variety of dishes, and overall, it was a pretty good experience. The noodles were excellent—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The soup was a little milder than I had hoped for in terms of spice - I had to add some chili oil to give it the kick I was craving. The shrimp was delicious, although I found it a bit odd that it wasn’t peeled, especially since it was coated. Unfortunately, it affected my overall eating experience. As for the steamed pork dumplings, I wasn’t a fan of the filling—it just didn’t quite suit my taste. The sauce accompanying the dumplings was delicious though - ask for more! Service was excellent, and the staff were attentive and friendly. The price was reasonable for the quality and quantity of food.
quaint little spot with some of the best noodles in the city! Ive been coming here for yeeears and they're so consistent and delicious! they nail the Szechuan flavor. the hand pulled noodles are superior!
Ting Wong
Probably the best Cantonese food you’ll find in the center city Philly area. The taste to price ratio is excellently high. The barbecue meats are the best here. If you go, definitely order them at least.
Great little quaint place if you want some comfort Chinese food. I stopped by on my way back to DC and it did not disappoint! I went to another Chinese restaurant the day before and I wish I came here instead! Food reminds me of nyc/home. Wontons were a good size, plump with a nice bite to it. Duck was really good and if you are craving shrimp rice rolls, you would have to verbally order it since it is not on the menu. Lady servers were nice. Loved everything so much I ordered food to go for me to bring back to DC. I will be definitely be back when I come back to Philly.
Heng Feng Hand Drawn Noodles
Went for a bowl of soup and some crispy squid. On the plus side, the squid were good and the broth and noodles were nice. On the very negative side, they decided to give me what was predominantly a bowl of beef tendon soup (also on the menu) when I ordered the soup with beef brisket, sliced beef, meatball and pork sauce. I do not care for beef tendon and did not order beef tendon. I understand that sometimes there are bits of tendon in the sliced beef but that is not what happened here. When I pointed out that there was little beef, my waiter explained that they used tendon instead. I wasn't happy so he proposed a solution.... He gave me a plate so I could fish out what I didn't like. No replacement with the items I actually ordered. No adjustment to the bill. Nothing that indicated he cared in the slightest. See my photo of the "sliced beef and beef brisket" portion of my soup. At the end of my meal they gave me a receipt that indicated I could pay by card and be charged an extra 4%. Or if I paid the whole bill with cash they'd discount it 5%. I paid cash. They did NOT discount it and after giving me my (shorted) change the waiter would not pay attention or come over. Presumably he knew I'd been overcharged and didn't want to deal with it. In short - replaced the better meats in my dish with less expensive and unwanted beef tendon - was not willing to make it right - did not give me the discount that the receipt promised Would not return to this restaurant. This is the first time I've failed to tip, due to service issues, that I can ever recall.
Unassuming spot for good noodle soup. Smaller sized proportions but satisfying none the less. Got chili wontons, very tasty great flavor (needed a bit of salt), Good protein to noodle ratio. Great service.
Tai Lake
HORRIBLE!! The place is nice & I think the employees are nice, but they were talking in different languages & I was getting a vibe that they were talking about us. The food was sooooooo bad & expensive! I got shrimp fried rice, sweet & sour shrimp & fried scallops & shrimp. The shrimp fried rice had so much egg & onion in it. The sweet & sour shrimp was so big & mushy. The sauce was good though. The salted scallops & shrimp wasn’t seasoned. Was mushy & didn’t come with the chili sauce that they advertised. The drinks are can soda, no refills. I also think they charged me $10 extra dollars for no reason. The whole place was definitely sketchy. I won’t be going back.
Came to this place for a dinner, I ordered sweet pork, and indeed, it was sweet a little bit too much for myself. The place looks old but clean, it has an atmosphere of an old china restaurant, the service isn't the best, the waitress barely speak English so it was difficult to ask for advice or about the food, however the portions are good and the close late, so for me isn't the best option, but if is late it might be your best option. Prices are average, so around 20us per person. Also you need yo take into consideration that there is no free parking available.
Xun Yu Si Kao 寻鱼私烤
This place is amazing! The fish hotpot is packed with flavor—rich, spicy, and super satisfying. The fish is so tender, and the broth is just incredible. And that eggplant dish? Wow! The sauce is so good, and the eggplant is cooked perfectly—soft and so tasty. Even the green beans were spot on! I’m obsessed with both dishes and can’t wait to come back for more. If you’re into bold, delicious Chinese food, you’ve gotta try this place!
So many amazing items on their menu, we've had such a fun time eating multiple items on their menu with our group visits. Everyone gets their hot pots, but we also really enjoyed their eggplant, tofu, and noodle dishes. Definitely coming back for more!
Yummy Yummy
If you're in the Chinatown area and need a quick, affordable bite, this place is a must visit! The food is not only delicious but also incredibly budget-friendly. For just $25, I was able to get enough food to feed three people. A few things to note: it’s cash only, so make sure to bring cash, and the seating is limited to just three people, so you may want to consider taking your meal to go. Huge thanks to the friendly host for the amazing hospitality. The hospitality definitely made the experience even better. Highly recommend!
Excellent take out leaning spot with a menu of prepared to order dishes plus grab and go plates. There’s some small seating up front but seems like you normally take the food out with you. I especially loved the chive wrap!
Heung Fa Chun Sweet House
Have been wanting to try fan tuan forever and realized this place sells it!! $3.50 per roll and very tasty. I will be coming back here regularly to try their other items as well
This is what I have been looking for all these years. Perfection! The bun is soft and the stuffings are delicious (hard boil egg, pork, sausage) "Steam bun"
Great Wall Chinese Restaurant
The fod is good but the area is scary and dangerous!
Food was good nice and hot very tasty. the place was clean and well kept.the staff was great the only problem was the area looked dangerous wouldn't be back due to the drug dealers on the corner selling rocks . All in all we came and ate no problems here
Peking Garden Restaurant
While working in Lewisburg, PA, my coworkers and I decided to stop for lunch at a nearby restaurant close to the facility we were working at. The place had plenty of seating, including both tables and booths, which made it easy to get seated right away. Ambiance was good, It was pretty empty during lunch but a great open area in the restaurant. Our waiter promptly greeted us, took our order, and the food was served within 10 minutes--impressive speed for lunchtime. I ordered the General Tso's chicken meal, which came with fried rice and lo mein. The food was hot, fresh, and flavorful. Overall, a great lunch spot with quick service and satisfying food.
Very delicious Chinese food! Our server was super nice and accommodating, the atmosphere was great and had a lot of cute things, and the food was very tasty! (The sushi was gorgeous!) I would definitely go here again, and I would recommend this place to others.
Lotus Inn Restaurant
Went to Lotus as soon as they opened was craving beef broccoli and my wife was craving pati. The serves was amazing as soon as we sat down they took our drink order. The outside is deceiving thought the inside was going to look terrible but looked clean and well kept. When we ordered our food it didn't take long to receive it. We also ordered an appetizer of shrimp puffs which my wife said tasted good. I received an egg drop soup which was also good. When we get our main dishes they were nice and hot. My wife said she loved the taste of the pati and I also loved the beef broccoli. Over all loved our food and service here would recommend trying it if you are skeptical.
Valley people! After a long wait and no sign of Lotus opening up again I found a replacement! The plate I would get at lotus is the same quality flavor and texture as is the new place. It is delicious you should all try it. Although the prices are a bit more because they don't have specials like lotus.
China Cafe
I’m not a buffet guy! Usually too messy, chaotic, and just not my thing. But I got invited to a graduation luncheon at China Cafe and ended up really enjoying it. This buffet was much cleaner and more organized than most I’ve been to. The food? Solid. The tonkatsu was crispy and flavorful, and the grilled meats—chicken teriyaki, BBQ pork, and pork ribs—were absolutely on point. I skipped the rice (protein real estate is precious) and loaded up on all the good stuff. Our waitress was incredible! She handled our large party solo, kept everything running smoothly, and never missed a beat. Fair play to her! Overall, a pleasant experience. If you like buffets—or even if you usually don’t—China Cafe is worth checking out.
This food was really amazing !! It was super tasty nice and hot and the dessert option was fantastic I definitely recommend this and their service is amazing too
