888 Chinese Restaurant
Don’t waste your $$$ – the food is disappointing. I ordered from the traditional Chinese menu, expecting it to be better than places like Cooking Girls or Hu’s Cooking since it looked like an “authentic” Chinese restaurant. However, the cumin beef was one of the worst I’ve had anywhere – just a few slices of meat and mostly onions. The twice-cooked pork was also a letdown. The meat look raw and undercooked, with way too much fat. I am taking the foods back to them tmr
Probably wouldn’t come back to this location but honestly it’s really hard to find good Chinese food in Houston. The combination rice seemed over cooked or like they don’t clean the pans properly so it looks super greasy and honestly lacks flavor for having 3 meats. All the meats seemed over cooked and just bland. The beef brocoli also taste bland and lacked flavor for being filled with sauce. Just not great for the price they charge. The only thing I cared for was the eggroll.
China Star
This place is good for a lunchtime, The restaurant is clean and the service is good. They have more choices and various foods for the price of $14.00 compared to King Star $13.49. However their steak-pepper and chicken stirred fried are not well. It is special to have a Beef-tripe (honeycomb and pocket tripe, blanket/flat/smooth tripe, book/bible/leaf tripe) and the seashell salad is so great and nice.
I'm from out of town and was craving Chinese food so looked up Chinese restaurant near the hotel and thought I'd give this place a try instead of panda express down the street and I'm glad I did . Cashier Mayra was very helpful explaining how to go plates worked and the prices. $4.99 a lb is a deal ! Sushi only $1 a piece ,Went during lunch hour so it was kind of busy but was very impressed on how fast she was and very friendly with all the customers. Will be going back before leaving town but dining in instead since she said there's more seafood variety after 4 and I love crawfish
Panda Express
Well, it's not my 1st time trying Panda Express, but it is the 1st time going inside personally. I made an online order about an hour ago. I love the meats that they offer, but there are some negatives. I ordered 2 plates (2 meats, 1 side), 4 egg rolls, 2 orders of the crab Rangoon, and a side of fried rice. The 2 meat, 1 side plates was really good for the most part. I had Orange Chicken, Broccoli Beef with Fried Rice. The fried rice was a huge disappointment. No flavor what so ever, even the soy sauce didn't help. The meats were very good. The 2nd 2 meat, 1 side plate was ok at best. My boyfriend had Beijing beef, String Bean Chicken Breast with Chow Mein. There were plenty of vegetables but he wished that there was more meat which I could agree with. The chow mein also had no flavor. The egg rolls were great, and the Crab Rangoon was fantastic. The service was slow. I understand it was busy, but at least have a worker do to go orders specifically. I shouldn't have to wait close to 10 minutes after I arrived to pick up my online order. Mind you, I received a text message about 10 minutes after I put in the order. In conclusion, I won't be returning to this location
This location, closes the initial- restaurant dining at 8pm. I'd like to sit and enjoy hot food! But cannot due to locked doors!!
Great Wall Buffet
Went here last night for dinner with my Aunt and 4 kids and boy what a horrible mistake it was! Not only did the food taste disgusting, they were all either overcooked or old. Ice cream machine wasn’t working, cheesecake was dry, wonton soup was not how it’s supposed to be, crawfish was cleaned but inside you can tell they were bad due to the color and the seasoning was terrible. Server made me uncomfortable with her staring the whole time we were there and her persona wasn’t very pleasing. So much went wrong with dinner here last night that we went home with stomachache. Aunt and 2 of my kids had diarrhea and vomiting. We basically had a $90 bill to get sick. If I can give a negative 5⭐️ that would sum it up.
Surprisingly decent selection for a small buffet for this. I went in with low expectations so I was a bit surprised to find that they served clams. That's the money item there, in my opinion! They clams were pretty clean, too (a lot of times, buffets will have gritty/sandy clams). I definitely ate until I was full. Pretty good price for lunch. The inside seemed pretty clean, so you can't really ask for more.
Chinese Buffet
Gave this place another chance not too long ago after years of not eating here I wasn’t too impressed the food remains bland they have rules about not serving yourself “too much sea food” in your take out plate or it will be a higher price. The price itself for the take out plate was not bad at all you just have to mix it up with meat & seafood. The plate was not weighted you just pay a set price (I believe I paid $13) for the plate and I filled it all the way up.
The dining area is old and run down. A musty odor greets you at the door and is present the entire visit. The food is sparse, cold, and unappealing in the buffet. The cooks are not even Asians. The waitresses worked hard our entire visit. The owners would do great to convert to take out only. The 3.8 rating they had the day we visited was generous.
