Mama’s Kitchen
Pretty good food. Many classic "Chinese" American options plus lots of more authentic dishes. Offer Boba tea too!
We came and got eggrolls, beef and broccoli and the Spicy hot pot. Everything was delicious. I recommend the eggrolls!
Pepper Twins
Fantastic food at a great price, portions are generous and served quickly. We were seated promptly and given our orders in less than 10 minutes.
Nice ambience for a couples or social dinner with friends or fam. The service was friendly but they forgot one of our orders. Food was tasty but too greasy for my liking. Also not sure of the “organic” claim on their restaurant name. I ordered the sautéed veg with tofu seen in the pic. Overall a decent place for authentic Sichuan food.
Trendy Dumpling
We had a really good meal here! The service was really good. The food came out hot and really quickly. They boxed all our leftovers up for us. The boa buns were great!
If I could give this place TEN stars, I would! Absolutely delicious meal. We had soup dumplings, Beijing Duck, and glass shrimp dumplings. Everything was amazing. The broth in the soup dumplings was perfectly seasoned. The Beijing duck was as good if not better than what I have eaten in Hong Kong. The crispy skin was absolutely perfection!! The glass shrimp dumplings were simply delicious. Shrimp perfectly cooked and skins just right.
Fat Bao
Highly Recommend! All of their baos taste home made and from scratch. My favorite was the salmon one that had cream cheese and reminded me of a Philadelphia roll. Highly recommend their cauliflower appetizer too, there’s a lot of different spices in there that make it good. A must to try if stopping in Houston!
We tried so many types of bao and the fat fries. We got a couple of extra for our group in case we didn't get enough. My favorite ones were the Thai spicy and tuna, but the pork belly was also so tender and delicious falling apart meat with a generous portion. Don't sleep on this great find if you love bao.
Qin Dynasty
A wonderful and elegant Chinese restaurant with attentive staff and a robot to deliver your order. I went for lunch and was not disappointed. Large servings and quiet atmosphere created a lovely experience for my friends .
Dry tastless rice, noodles, and tasteless, just a sugary mess. Service was long and exhausting for just 3 items. Robots delivered food to tables. Grenadine tastes old and disgusting. I was afraid to drink the soda because it was all nasty.
Panda Garden Restaurant @ W Loop s
First place I have been in a while where I was really impressed by the amount of food you get for the price. I paid $11 total, got beef, chicken and shrimp with a lot of rice (this is the "panda rice" option), it was all good tasting. I was there with a friend, and we were the only two people inside around lunchtime, with the occasional other people who would come in for a pick-up order.
I love this place. I remember when Panda Garden was on Weslayan St., Their chicken is always tender, and I decide the level of pepper heat I want. I took my mother here recently, and she enjoyed the experience. She was surprised that after customers sat down, they were served with an entire china table set up and real plates and not paper plates. I will continue to suggest Panda Garden not to be mistaken for Panda Express; two totally different places and experiences. We had takeout, and I had to open the carryout containers for my mother to taste. Maybe next time, she can have the total dine-in experience.
Shanghai River
Great Chinese food at a very competitive price. The lunch soup to go was huge! Easily twice what I am used to. The egg roll was a very standard veggie one with nothing to complain or rave about. The sesame chicken was also quite good with nice big pieces of white meat Chicken. Fried rice was pretty standard, but a good accompaniment. If I am looking for some simple Chinese food and in the area, I would stop by again. The only complaint was that the place itself is pretty dated inside. Clean but dark and older feeling. Almost like a smoking room or casino poker room
This is good Chinese food. The environment is great and the people are so nice. I thought the prices were a little high. We had fried rice, orange pork and sweet & sour chicken. Food came out fast. I was surprised, for dinner there were no egg rolls included or a cup of soup. That would be a nice addition.
Vietopia
My family and I visited Vietopia for dinner and the Chinese new year dragon dance celebration! We had a blast! The food is always delicious, the service is always amazing and we are always treated like family 😊 I highly recommend you stop by and check out Vietopia for yourself.
This beef and egg roll vermicelli dish is absolutely fantastic! The grilled beef is perfectly seasoned and cooked to tender perfection, with a nice smoky flavor that complements the fresh green onions and crunchy garlic topping. The egg rolls are golden, crispy, and packed with flavorful filling, adding a delightful crunch to the meal. The vermicelli noodles are light and fluffy, providing an excellent base for the dish, and the fresh vegetables—carrots, lettuce, and herbs—add a refreshing balance. The accompanying sauce ties everything together beautifully, offering a tangy and savory kick. Every bite is a harmonious blend of textures and flavors. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a satisfying and delicious Vietnamese vermicelli dish!
Haii Keii
My new favorite hidden gem. This place is very pretty it has a low light romantic type vibe .valet Parking was 10 dollars . Going In to the place was very pretty ,the lights gave kill bill retro type vibes. It's best to set reservations as the places tend to get busy. The plates are like tappas so don't expect to get full. The drinks were made pretty and tasted really good. I love how the drink menu looks, very eye catching. The food was cool, the best out the food was the crab rice. Don't sleep on the crab rice. It was so good, well seasoned with a soft shell crab in the middle. That was good AF. My waiter was really nice and answered any questions we had. The food also comes out as you order it . The tables included a purse hanger that you can take home. I went for a birthday and I love the fact that they will display happy birthday on the walls for the birthday person . This place is so beautiful I definitely recommend
Great atmosphere. The decor and vibe do feel like Kill Bill / Blade Runner. The music is house music, and it's not super loud, so you can have a conversation without yelling. I had made reservations and had no problem getting seated immediately. Our waiter made great recommendations for food and drinks and was very attentive. The food is not amazing but not horrible. The nigiri we got were solid for a high scale sushi restaurant. The issue I had was the prices, but I understand that I am paying for the environment. I would recommend going for date night or with a big group. The bill with tip was north of 400 dollars for 2 people.
Money Cat
Leta get the bad out of the way.... if you can call it that. The place is really nice. The decor is great. I'm not a huge fan of all the tables. The layout is a bit weird. One table felt dark and like facing a wall. And they need to fix the light that we sat under. It kept flickering, and at one point it even went fully off door like 5 seconds. Ok, gripes out of the way (Yes, those silly things were my only gripes). The food was amazing! The sushi rolls were our least favorite. The fried mushroom appetizer was really the best part of the meal. The rainbow carrots were phenomenal. The veg tempura was awesome. The smokey drink made with mezcal we had it dive with tequila, and it was great. Seriously, we were stuffed. Yes, it's a bit expensive, as any restaurant at this level is. But it's well worth it. And let's not forget the service. Michael was a great server. He answered everything, was available, and service was with a smile. The food came out quickly and fresh. To be fair, we were there at an off hour, but also that usually means they're understaffed, or they're not ready. No it was awesome. Service overall was wonderful. Seriously, if you want a nice date night and are willing to spend for a really nice and delicious dinner, this has to be on the list.
Money Cat is my favorite new restaurant in Houston. The menu is creative, the food is aesthetically pleasing and exceptionally tasteful. Happy hour here really gives you a bang for your buck. And the service is always friendly and efficient. 10/10 I will always be back!!
Silk Road
I was skeptical... I really was. Dim sum restaurant in a hotel? It was only because it was so close to West U that I gave it a try but I am so happy I did! Everything I tried was delicious including some classic renditions of old favorites that I have always loved. They hit it out of the park. I particularly liked the stir fried noodles (beef). The noodles are made fresh in house and it was awesome! I also particularly liked the turnip cake which is something I merely tolerated when getting dim sum at other sites. If you like turnip cake, this might be the best I've ever had. It's a different experience than I was expecting since most places I have been at have slow or cart service with food that has been under warmers. Everything we ordered was made fresh for us and arrived hot. Very traditional and very tasty. Highly recommend if you live in the West U or surrounding region! It's nice to know we don't have to continue to drive to Chinatown for our ~monthly dim sum outing.
It is a hotel, so prices are a bit higher than your average dim sum place. Regardless, the place is delicious and very cute. The food has excellent quality. The day we went, they were down a couple of employees so service was a bit slower, but they were all so gracious and trying their best. Devin was extremely hospitable and gave us some bites to taste free of charge to make up for the hiccups. Overall, I would go back again because I loved it.
Panda Express
The beef not cooked well! I ordered the bowl has just 4 slices of beef and broccoli, she is saving amounts of food, for what? not even delicious. That’s so funny! I am not ordering anything from Panda Express
Store was extremely filthy. Smelled like someone threw up in the store. An Employee served me beef and broccoli with one tiny piece of beef- then yelled immediately after serving me, we need beef and broccoli- when it was time for beef and broccoli when i was being served. Soda machine was smelly and broken. One employee was emptying the trash and the trash bag was leaking fluid on the floor- they didn't bother to clean it up. The food was not cooked correctly and and people were serving food while Multi tasking - cross contaminating stuff. It was a undesirable experience, place hadn't been cleaned properly in monthes. When tried to inform manager about some of these issues, the employees informed manager was gone. Just a bad deal. I regret eating this slop and not to mention one of the cooks was pulling out beef in eye sight out of a plastic bag, didn't wash and just didn't look proper- maybe that's how's it's done but never coming back to this location
