Rice to Go
Stopped by on a random chance to try it out, everything was fresh and hot. I would make the drive from San Antonio to floresville just for the food alone. Try it! You won't be disappointed
The egg drop soup smelled like wet dog and the beef tasted horrible! Something was definitely not right. I couldn’t even eat it. I took it to go and threw it in the trash. I paid 20.00 for nothing. I won’t be going back there. No wonder there are never any cars there. Place is always empty for a reason
Shan Dong
We visited at noon on a Saturday and did not have a wait. Once seated, we were provided with hot tea, which was nice. We made our order, and it quickly arrived within about 5 minutes. We ordered the Shan Dong Chicken, the sesame noodles with the handmade noodles, and the special dumplings. The Shan Dong chicken is so good! You must try that when visiting here. Next time, we want to try the hot and spicy noodles, the sesame noodles wasn’t our favorite but was still decent. From reviews online it looks like that is the most popular noodle dish. The special dumplings are good, I like the filling. But, keep in mind it can be a lot of dough when pairing the special dumplings with the handmade noodles. Overall, we love stopping here whenever we are passing through Oakland.
We tried this place because of the crowd outside and figured the food was good! Table for 2 seated within 5 min on a December Friday night at 7pm! Lovely tea while waiting. Food arrived quickly and the portions were enormous! Any entree could easily be shared by multiple people! We ordered the Sweet and Sour Soup, Spicy Chow Mein with hand pulled noodles (sub chicken for shrimp) and Moo Shu Vegetables. I appreciated that they asked if we were comfortable with the meat in each of the dishes and were able to make substitutions. Everything Yum :) We ate as much as we could and still had to go boxes for everything. Great spot!
Yummy Dim Sum
Not a fancy place but they do have dim sum ready to serve or take out. If you don’t speak Cantonese or Mandarin, the steamers are right there for you to point to whatever dishes you like. The food comes quickly.
I ordered a plate of Hao Gao. All plates were $5. Take out only. 4 small dumplings less than 1 oz and 1.25" width, which comes out to $1.25 per dumpling. The filling was mostly shrimp with possibly fish paste. One dumpling had more shrimp whereas, one dumpling had more fish paste. Taste was ok but seasoning was salty for my tastes.
