One Bite Dumpling
We are thrilled to have a dumpling place in South Austin! We came for the soft opening and enjoyed each dish we ordered. Very kind and courteous staff. A great addition to the South Austin food scene!
What a great new spot!! So very good... A wonderful addition to the growing Asian variety in South Austin. Went for lunch and was surprised how filled the place was for the 1st week of opening. Guess the word spread fast! They have completely renovated the old Hao Hao restaurant. So bright and welcoming. They have a display window of the chef making dumplingsš„... Like they do over in Hong Kong. Our server was very friendly and was willing to find out answers for questions that she didn't know. They're not the fastest but that's okay. Dumplings are meant to be enjoyed and savored. The menu is impressive. I want to try everything and in time... I will! For our first trip, we had the the Wontons in Chili Oil.... Delicious, the Shu Mai.. Yummy... This was no Sysco Dim Sum, the Baby Bok Choy... Cooked to perfection and last but definitely not least, the Black Pepper Beef Udon was what took our lunch over the Top! Beef tender, noodles chewy in every way that is good and the black pepper just the right amount of spice. Welcome One Bite Dumpling... I look forward to many future meals here!!
Shu Shu's Asian Cuisine
I tried this place first time today with a very high expectation, but I was very disappointed with the food.ā¹ļø The clerk was very polite and friendly. He is great. I had a hot & sour soup, itās also great, I like it. But, the dragon noodle wasā¦ānot goodā. I really donāt like the taste and flavor if it has any.š I was so confused because the combination of veggies and meat should be ok, but why it tasted so bad? My answer is the sauce. This dish could be super good if they just use regular soy sauce and red chili. The sauce should bonds the flavors of the ingredients together, but sadly it does not. Super flavorless, only tomato sour, hot and spicy on your tongue. And they put in the noodle at the very end of cooking, making it even more flavorless. They should put the noodle into the wok and pan fried it with the veggies and meat for a while before adding any sauce or soy sauce, so the noodle has time to absorb the flavor of ingredients and wok. This should be one of the basic rules of making Asian dishes. š Anyway, I donāt recommend the dragon noodle. I might try something else next time.
Hungry for straight up Chinese and this place was recommended by a local retailer. Good lunch special selection. Hot and sour soup was delish. Large portion of Mongolian beef with mediocre fried rice. Good egg roll. Spoon had dried/caked on food on it, YUK Will explore other places in the area next time.

Edit: I sent an an e-mail to their support and initially received an obvious AI reply from "Tsophie" in under a minute, which was disheartening. I received a subsequent reply the next day which I *believe* was human, although I'm not positive. Consider disabling AI replies or at least be transparent about your use. Original review: Everything was well cooked in terms of texture, but some things severely lacked seasoning. The sesame tofu was quite good, but the egg drop soup was very bland. The noodles in the Singapore street noodles were well seasoned and tasty, but the tofu itself was also very bland. Sesame balls were good and the fried rice was fine. I'll give them one more shot, but it was definitely a mixed experience.
This location has such a cool aesthetic I love how cool it looks - my favorite thing to order for takeout is the Rangoons and Mongolian beef bowl >>> the potstickers are also super yummy
Super China
The service and food is horrible. The lady brought my food to go, when I needed to eat it here because I am out of town. She didn't even ask me if I was eating here and did not bring me silverware or napkins. When I ask for them, she gave me one napkin. The tea tastes awful as well as the egg roll. The food was ok, but I would not stopped here if I knew, it was just ok. And, they don't have public restrooms. Not happy....
A no frills Chinese restaurant which serves absolutely delicious food! Huge portion sizes, good prices and amazing taste make it one of the best restaurants in Austin. So many Chinese restaurants skimp on rice which is one of the cheapest foods but at this restaurant you will not have to worry about running out. We always get the dinner portions for lunch so that way there is plenty left over for dinner! Family owned and operated, service is fast, friendly and efficient!!
Twin Lion Chinese Restaurant
We were greeted by the sweetest Zumu (grandmother) who helped us. Unassuming casual restaurant filled with a very friendly atmosphere. The soups are so rich and flavorful at Twin Lion Chinese Restaurant in Austin. The seasoning is excellent. We had the lunch specials served with an egg roll and soup. We also had crab Rangoon - excellent- amazing fried oozing with delicious cream cheese and their steamed dumplings. The dumplings are big and very tasty. I had Mongolian. Perfect. Just perfect. Hubby had the "Dragon and Lion Fight" was also tasty with the vegetables still slightly crispy. We want to come back and try the appetizer sampler. We give this place for the great fresh food and the casual and super sweet service a 6!!. A restaurant does not have to be pretentious and fancy to be a 6 in my book!!!
Review 2- Oct 25th 2024 This time food was amazing. Andrea is a wonderful lady who helped us to get seated immediately and taken the order and served food quickly and it tasted hot and delicious. We ordered Hot and sour soup and chicken fried rice. Both are hot and fresh. Giving the five star rating for the portion size. Must recommended and much better than many thai and chinese restaurants. Firstly the entrance to the restaurant is a big solid red door, we are confused on whether the restaurant is open or closed until we see a label on the side, and no visibility of the hotel from outside since its all covered. A transparent door might help to invite more guests. Secondly the food is not served hot but it is only warm. We ordered sweet and sour soup, chicken fried rice and pan fried noodles. Portion size, taste, cost are all good except the temperature of the food. Staff is friendly and good to try.
P.F. Chang's
We came for lunch and it did NOT disappoint. Consistently delicious. The lunch special was a nice suprise and MICHELLE took excellent care of us. We'll be back for our Sundays out for sure!
Michelle was our server today and let me tell you she was spectacular. We had questions about the menu due to dietary restrictions and she was very quick with her responses and recommendations. She never let us have empty glasses and our experience was far beyond what we could have expected. Michelle has convinced us to come back for the great food and to have her as our amazing server once again!
Rice Bowl Cafe
The beef rolls were incredibleāworth coming back just for them! Service was quick and friendly. The salt and pepper tofu was crisp but leaned more on the salty side. Overall, a solid experience with fast service and tasty food.
Oh my god. COME TO THIS RESTAURANT. Every dish was soooo flavorful, you have no idea. The pig ear is the best Iāve ever had. The pork feet rice has a more subtle taste, but so rich and satisfying. Then thereās the salt and pepper triple, which is perfectly fried and so tasty.
First Chinese BBQ
A sign on the wall near the front door proclaimed that this is one of the top 50 Chinese restaurants in the United States. Iām a bit skeptical of this, having spent a lot of time in the bay area in California, where every Chinese restaurant is extremely good. But for Austin, this is certainly a very good restaurant. The seating area is nothing special, itās a pure laid functional, but thatās fine, you donāt go here for a five star experience, you go here for great food. Given this, I would definitely give this place a thumbs up and try it.
I was here for the BBQ and was told no BBQ today.... Force to order something else on the menu, and not impressed. The veggie dish cooked in hot water, then stir fry it. Other dishes are just average at best.
Tian Tian Golden Palace Seafood & Dim Sum Austin
This used to be the Fortune Restaurant, which has relocated to 620. Atmosphere - interior was redone. Tables and chairs too - they somehow project a classier interior, albeit somewhat bulky. Place was very well lit. Service - was prompt. Sufficient staff were around to take your orders, top off drinks, deliver food, and attend to diners' needs. Orders are taken through tablets that each staff carries on a sling. Food - their lunch specials were $2-3 more expensive than typical ones - but servings were huge - good for 1.5 - 2 persons. Dimsum can be ordered weekdays and the kitchen would prepare them for you. On weekends, they'd be on push carts going around the dining area. Dimsum prices range from $5 to $10 a serving. If ordering tea, the table would be charged $2 per person seated, regardless if the others won't be partaking. There is also a new addition - aquariums hosting libr seafood, assuring fresh supply for your dish, should you be ordering lobsters, crabs, ells, etc.
Tried ordering some dishes off the main menu but the items we wanted were unavailable. Was not able to try many of the dim sum but was able to get the staples as the carts had those on rotation. Har Gow- succulent shrimp, perfectly steamed Siu Mai - bouncy, savory pork and shrimp Chicken Feet- tender but overly sweet, not my personal preference Chinese Broccoli- crisp vegetables with a light soy/oyster sauce, which I prefer over the thick sweet oyster sauce Pork Ribs- chewy in a good way, loved the meat to cartilage ratio Prices are a bit high for dim sum. Most are medium and large dishes priced at $6 and $7. The dishes we had were high quality. Interested in trying more, attributing the lack of variety to soft opening. Depending on when you dine, cart offerings will vary. We had to wait a bit to get the dim sum we wanted, looked like the dishes were cooked in large batches so food came in waves.
Tso Chinese Takeout & Delivery
Itās fine. Just fine. Literally what Iād expect if I ordered Chinese in an airport or grocery chain fast food-type place. Nothing super objectionable, but nothing stood out. Our āmildā ordered dish tasted EXACTLY the same as our āspicyā dish, both of which Iād judge as āmild.ā Food was not particularly warm, temperature wise, but not cold, when I got it home ten minutes later. Just okay. We ate it and none of the three of us fully hated it. Just didnāt love it. Would eat in a pinch but wouldnāt choose.
If you are looking for a place that brings consistent meals, this is it! I wonāt say they have the most exciting menu, but we always know what weāre going to get and itās going to be good! The rangoons and potstickers are a must! My go-to is the large wonton soup which will usually last me two servings, while wifey loves the honey walnut shrimp, though they avoid the bowl as it comes with less shrimp. I just had the chicken lettuce wraps for the first time and they were delicious. The lettuce was fresh, but it did get a little wilty from the extra sauce at the bottom of the plate. I will still order them again. This place is a staple for our family!
Seven Spice
I've been visiting Seven Spice in Austin for years now, and it consistently delivers an exceptional dining experience. I recently celebrated Lunar New Year with my friends there, and once again, we were blown away by the delicious food and warm hospitality. We ordered a wide variety of dishes, and everything was perfectly seasoned and presented. The flavors were bold and vibrant, and the ingredients were fresh and high-quality. The owners are incredibly welcoming and passionate about their food, making for a truly enjoyable dining experience. This was my third visit to Seven Spice, and it hasn't disappointed once. The food is consistently delicious, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service is impeccable. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a delicious meal, I highly recommend Seven Spice. It's a true gem in Austin's culinary scene.
My favorite go-to place for delicious authentic Chinese food! The portions are very generous, the food is always served fresh and hot, and the waitresses are both really friendly and accommodating.
Bamboo House Austin
Probably one of the authentic Chinese foods I had in a while in my years here in Austin. Even though I am not a duck aficionado, I did truly enjoy their Peking duck; the skin was crispy, the meat was tender and nicely flavored, the thin pancakes, sauces, shredded green onions and cucumbers were nicely placed in a tray. We also ordered Twice cooked pork, Szechuan Beef, Crispy and Spicy chicken, I personally really liked the chicken; small chunks of lightly battered yet well flavored fried chicken stir fried with dry chilies, it was delicious. Overall, I'm very happy to have found the place and will not hesitate to recommend it to others.
The duck is authentic, must try! Itās sold out pretty fast in weekends. Need to get there before 5 to avoid the long line. Other dishes are great too, very large portions. The mouth watering chicken is so tender and juicy!
