Banana Leaves Asian Restaurant
The Food at Banana Leaves was very good. The layout of the dishes when they came to the table was great. If you like Asian food for a fair price, and want to support a Family Owned business, I couldn't recommend this location more! Their menu is quite vast as they have a whole side with many types of sushi, and filling meals on the other. There is a wide variety of drinks to choose from both Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic. My dinner consisted of Grilled Chicken Satay and the General Tso's Chicken and Broccoli with a cup of rice. A tasteful and filling meal!
Started with the Papaya salad, not quite a traditional Som Tom but was light, flavorful & a decent portion for the price. Satisfying & recommended if you like that sort of green papaya salad. Next up lemongrass chicken buns. Grilled meat nicely done. Satisfying even though the buns were a tad more dense than I expected. Lastly, Curry Laksa. I'm a fan of this dish so was eager to try their take on an old favorite. It was filling but the toppings (tofu, chicken) lacked flavor & would have been better served if pre-marinated in the curry or even salted. With that said, the coconut curry was light & fresh tasting. I was hungry & drained the last drop. I had a pot of jasmine tea which came in an ornate pot & wasn't overpowering or bitter. Overall a quick stop & since they had just opened for their evening service I was served very quickly. In & out in 40min or less early on a Monday even after lingering a bit over the last cup of my tea. Not sure what it would be like on a weekend or later in the evening but I'd make another stop if I was in the area to try their menu of dishes from all over Asia.
Basebowl
This place has definitely improved.It use to smell really bad but that has changed. The menu changed and for the better. The popcorn chicken is really good, as well as the orange and fish! The friend rice isn’t great. The mango chicken has way too much sauce. Regardless, I would definitely recommend this place.
I found this place after being recommended by one of good friends and I am glad that I came to check it out! The spicy beef ramen tasted very fresh and the beef was so tender, I was able to savor all the flavor with each chew. The service was great and the restaurant was very clean. I definitely recommend you checking them out for lunch. Great value for the price too.
China Wok
I can only rate the sweet and sour chicken- namely the sauce. I didn’t know you could do the sauce wrong until I ordered from here. It is watery and tastes like it’s made with watered down koolaid. It’s the second time I’ve ordered it from this restaurant (by accident I came here twice), the first time I had to make it from scratch to salvage the meal because I had already made it home, this time I checked the sauce before I left and just returned it. The lady was nice though when returning it.
I love their Singapore Chow Mein (house special) and fried dumplings 😋

I like visiting One Fish, Two Fish Asian Restaurant in Washington, DC, and it was a delightful experience. This restaurant is a gem for anyone craving authentic Chinese cuisine and and they also have fresh, tasty sushi. The location is convenient, perfect for both dine-in and take-out, and the prices are surprisingly affordable given the quality of the food. What stands out the most is the variety in their menu. Each dish showcases a unique blend of flavors and is prepared with high-quality fresh ingredients. Their sushi rolls are a must-try; each piece is a work of art, both visually and in taste. The atmosphere of the restaurant adds to the dining experience. It's welcoming and comfortable, making it a great spot for both casual and special occasions. The staff deserves a special mention for their friendly and efficient service. They made sure our dining experience was pleasant and memorable. Overall, One Fish, Two Fish Asian restaurant, is an excellent choice for anyone in the Washington community looking for healthy, delicious Asian cuisine. Whether you're a fan of traditional Chinese dishes or sushi or Asians dishes. The restaurant won't disappoint. Highly recommended for its great food, atmosphere, and service.
Wonderful food and service. Ordered dim sum and tuna lovers roll. Sushi is made to order and was just right. My only suggestion is replacing the LED recessed lighting with warm light bulbs. The atmosphere would be greatly improved.
14th St Cafe Asian Bistro
Food was delish, but had been sitting too long because of delivery driver so the chicken dried out. Lo-mein SHMACKED
Order was correct ordered online. Appears to be a takeout only place at least when I went. Tables were set up to block entering beyond the doorway. Food was good. Ordered the fried squid - was good but no longer crispy with travel time. Dan Dan noodle was okay, not spicy. Beef broccoli was good. Food was good as leftovers the next day too.
Queen’s English
Friends who live in the area brought us here to DC Eater's July 2019 number one nominee on their Top 15 List. ATMOSPHERE: The cozy spot can dine about 35 souls. We got seated at the bay window, others dined at the bar and on low tops, with the kitchen in plain view to all. It got pretty smoky inside as the kitchen vents couldn't keep up with the chefs. MENU: Nothing British about this place with its arsenal filled with shareable, Asian-influenced dishes. BEVERAGE: Happy Valley - $13.00 My first whisky drink as I'm usually a vodka guy. Delish! Perfectly strong blend of sweet and citrusy. FOOD: Celtuce & Cucumber - $14.00 I couldn't find any celtuce (Chinese lettuce) in the dish, just lots of thinly-sliced cucumbers dressed in a light soy-vinegar sauce and topped with trout roe for a triple hit of freshness, salt and tang. Salt & Pepper Blowfish - $16.00, four pc. I'm sure this is a non-poisonous variety as there weren't any disclaimers on the menu. The small, headless fish were lightly battered, simply seasoned with salt, pepper and a sweet drizzle, with meat similar in texture to trout. The tails were crispy enough to eat too, and the only bone you'll find is the spine. Recommended. Chili Clams - $15.00 The clams were too small to be noticeable, so the majority of the dish seemed like ground pork with empty clam shells. Pass. Soy Braised Enoki Mushroom - $15.00 A pool of sweet and savory sauce enveloped each mushroom, topped with a poached egg and what I thought to be chicharron was actually a crispy tapioca. Mushroom lovers will rejoice. Sizzling Asparagus - $17.00 My least favorite of the night. The dish did not arrive sizzling, no biggie. Oddly, I couldn't detect any taste of asparagus in the mishmash of sweet and tangy flavors. Pass. Naked Dumpling - $14.00 Void of any shell, spongy cushions of mashed up seafood made for an unusual twist on the traditional potsticker, instead transforming it into fishcake. I passed on the spicy paste and ate it plain as it seemed overly hot by others reactions. I'll take a conventional dumpling and dipping sauce any day. Twice Cooked Lamb Rib - $16.00, 4 pc. Fork-tender, subtly seasoned and finished with a seared, black crust that was surprisingly not bitter. Daikon Fritters - $16.00 I had to taste the pork sung (meat product) topping separately as it looked so interesting, like dried moss on a rock. It tasted just like shredded beef jerky. The mashed up daikon could've passed for fishcake, with the radish's earthy notes marrying well with the creamy/oyster sauce drizzle. Recommended. Bok Choy - $14.00 Whatever the salty meat stir fried with the Chinese cabbage was, made the otherwise boring vegetable pop with life, creating an appetizing combination of flavors. Typhoon Shelter Shrimp - $22.00/five Definitely crunch on the legs and battered shell to garner the seasonings with every bite. Hand Cut Noodle - $21.00 I've never seen noodles with bi-colors of black and beige before, which is perhaps where the squid ink comes in. Bits of tender squid gave this dish subtle notes of ocean-y and savory. Recommended. Crispy Rice - $16.00 Easily my favorite dish of them all. Every grain of jasmine rice was coated in bold flavors of savory and char and enhanced with chicken, peas, catering and earthy shiitakes. Not your average fried rice. Highly recommended! DESSERT: The official name escaped my memory, but it was essentially Japanese-style mochi drizzled with caramel and dusted with sesame seeds and chopped peanuts. Gooey, sweet and nutty. SERVICE: Our waiter was very attentive, patient and professional. Drinks were never empty and we were checked on numerous times throughout our meal. TIP: No reservations are taken. We walked in without issue at 6:30p on a Tuesday night. OVERALL: Intimate menu, a bit pricey for the portion size. That crispy rice will be on my mind for a while!
I’ve been to Queen’s English 4-5 times and every experience has been wonderful. Whether it’s their regular menu or a pop up the food is a fresh take on Chinese/Hong Kong cuisine with an exceptional wine list.
TEASHI
As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a smile. Glad to know my presence was appreciated. There are so many options here. I love that they have lunch specials and deals, this place really wants your business. I was sold by the duck sauce readily available but the complimentary passion fruit tea. Blame this on trauma but where Im from the duck sauce isn’t given in abundance. I just wanted a snack so we got sushi, bubble tea and hot tea but I could tell that they have some really good food here. The small seating area was convenient to have our quick bite and it was even served right to our seat. I would definitely come back here and tell others to come. This business understands how to treat customers and that is something I can get behind. Thank you!
We ordered spicy chicken rice bowl and beef noodle soup, and both of them were delicious and authentic. It’s a good lunch option for affordable price (roughly $10-15 per bowl), delicious food and quick service (~10 min waiting during lunch time). Highly recommend!
Wonder Chicken
Please do NOT listen to the positive reviews because they LIED!!! I’m from Philly and this food was super bland and not worth the price point with the exception of my chicken wing platter. The spare ribs were super tiny cut and had no flavor. My friend said his general tso chicken was also bland. His egg roll was poppin though. Rated G for Garbage…0/10 would not recommend…except the wings

For a project I’ve been working on, I’ve had the opportunity to visit a small, family-owned establishment run by a dedicated couple. Their commitment to cleanliness and high standards in their kitchen is truly remarkable, setting them apart in an industry where standards can sometimes vary. Speaking with patrons, I’ve learned that many have been loyal customers for over 18 years—a testament to the consistency and quality of this restaurant. Everyone raves about how fresh and clean the food is, and how the owner, especially, goes above and beyond to help her regulars, all while keeping prices affordable. Everything I’ve tried from the menu has been outstanding, from the perfectly cooked chicken wings—a staple in DC—to the flavorful chow mein and fried rice. Every dish reflects the care and attention they put into their craft. This is more than just a restaurant—it’s a gem worth recognizing for its excellent food, warm hospitality, and unwavering commitment to its customers.
East Street Cafe
I was happy with my lunch here. We got a couple of dishes to share and an appetizer, and it was all good. My favorite part was the pickled cabbage with the Manila pork BBQ dish. We also got general Tso chicken and fried lumpia.
I highly recommend this restaurant, I asked one of the transit staff their favorite place to eat in the station and was directed here. If you can get past how high in elevation you’ll be, then you have a great meal and service ahead of you. I ordered shrimp fried rice w/ steamed broccoli (not sure of the exact platter name), it was great and refreshing. The plate had me set for my journey ahead, thanks again.
Han Palace-Woodley Park
Came here with a Chinese friend who said this was an authentic place for Chinese food. They had Chicken Feet, pork baos, a pork gravy. I had a Cucumber appetizer, a tofu gravy which was served with rice. A dessert which was tapioca in sweetened coconut milk. We also had flower tea. The food was so so good. Service was reasonably quick. Price is justified. Definitely recommend the place.
So welcoming and great service delighted us with really great food at reasonable prices. Each dish was carefully prepared, served hot, and so tasty! An example of attentive service: I was struggling trying handle the scallion pancake with my chopsticks. Without my asking, the waitress showed up with knives and forks for each of us at the table. The photos show orange chicken, Chinese broccoli, Mongolian fried beef, egg rolls (vegetarian), scallion pancakes, shrimp dim sum, crab dim sum. Another great thing about this restaurant is that it is just a few doors up the street from ROSE AVENUE BAKERY. Leave some room after your meal at Han Palace to top things off with a goodie from Rose Avenue.
Big China
The chicken wings are fried perfectly!!...I was just disappointed that the mambo sauce is horrible. The portions are smaller than other DC carryouts. The place could use a facelift. As much business as they get your building and decor should be a lot better. Customer service was good.
Don’t waist your money. I’ve eaten here all my life and the prices aren’t matching the amount of food. My delivery for “1 full sub & 6 wings” came to $29.80, and when you use a cards, they add a $0.50 fee. I’m sorry, It’s not worth it.
Chang Chang
We went in this restaurant randomly during my business trip. Wow, this is a authentic Chinese food hidden gem in DC downtown. Surprisingly, the Yang Zhou fried rice is the best I ever had in US. Especially, the shrimps are close to crystal, not over cooked like the majority of US Chinese restaurants do, and not smelly. Pot stickers are crispy and just right. Soup is tasted, so as the sweet sour rib. We ended up revisited twice during my 4 days stay in DC. Great environment, nice services. Price is not the lowest, but acceptable. For fact, it's better Chinese food than what's available in Chinatown. Don't miss it.
As someone who is Chinese and holds high standards for authentic cuisine, I can confidently say this place delivers deliciously authentic Chinese food. I’ve visited several Peter Chang restaurants, but I assessed this one on its own merits. For our table of three, we ordered quite a bit because the dishes were genuinely delicious. Most impressive was the outstanding service. Although the restaurant wasn’t packed, the staff were incredibly attentive, and each dish we ordered arrived within five minutes or less. My favorites were the cold lotus root dish and the egg and tomato dish, which was truly authentic, delicious, vegetarian, and not spicy. The crispy beef, seafood fried rice, and Dan Dan noodles were particularly fantastic. The crispy cumin fish, three-spice chicken, and cumin beef were very good too, making for an overall excellent dining experience.
