China Palace
i did not very much enjoy the food, but i am rating 5 stars anyways for these reasons as follows: from the strip mall location, sparsely decorated entry way, the chandelier on the cheap school ceiling, fake flowers and classic paper chinese zodiac placemats on the tables, and the music playing so softly it's almost silent inside save for the clink of forks and plates from the four or so tables in for lunch (forks, not chopsticks, provided) and friendly kitchen chatter just out of earshot, this place sends me directly back to 8-year-old nostalgia, when my father would take me to places like this on days together, back in texas, when life was easy and simple. prompt help, choice of seat. lunch specials (many to chose from) come with pork fried rice, (which i asked to not be included so to my dietary preferences (god-related) so i cannot rate this dish), a choice of soup, wonton chips with sweet-and-sour dip, and a pot of hot tea. the water arrives in a goblet. perhaps i should have studied the menu longer, but my choices were as such: very goopy and gelatinous and disturbingly tasteless beef chow mein (i attempted to sprinkle some pepper in hopes of helping the poor thing out, but way too much came out of the shaker and it was pepper chow mein from then on), and egg drop soup that was ok but still very bland. i dipped my wonton chips into a combination of the soup and sauce which i liked the best out of everything. i really liked the tea. point is, this amount of food is simply worth the $
Ordered food to go. Ordered shrimp with broccoli, got shrimp with cabbage? I couldn't tell honestly. The shrimp was overcooked and rubbery. Overall, super unsatisfying. I don't get why this place is so highly rated. I don't expect awesome Chinese food here in the Poconos, but even for "Chinese food in the Poconos", this place is sub par. Go somewhere else to eat. And why does everyone want tips for me picking up my food?? I worked in the food service industry for years and never expected tips for pick up orders...what exactly have you done to deserve a tip?? I don't get it. Anyway....there is better Chinese food elsewhere.
Royal Buffet
We were on a road trip and totally forgot it was Thanksgiving in the US—most places were closed except Royal Buffet. Since it was the only option near our hotel, we gave it a shot. Thanksgiving dinner was $21.99 per adult and $13 per kid. The food was alright—decent variety. Sushi was surprisingly not freezer-tasting, but the flounder was pretty bland. The ribs were okay. The fresh salad and fruit were a highlight, and the stir-fry station was the real MVP. You pick your ingredients, and they cook it up with teriyaki—it’s super tasty but crazy salty. Wings were meh, and the rest was typical buffet stuff. Overall, it was decent for being the only thing open. Service was quick, and parking was easy. Only downside? The stir-fry cook low-key hinted at a tip to my wife, which was awkward.
Extremely good, best Chinese food I’ve ever had beside from New York, NY. Very clean and food was always available. Servers were on top of everything as well. I will definitely recommend this place and be back. Amen P.S. I don’t know how people are hating on this place it was excellent. Stop being miserable and broke. Servers did not demand a tip or even mention it. Maybe just leave a tip next time and be a human in this society.
570 Ramen
Really really enjoy coming to 570 Ramen I got the chicken yakisoba which was delightful in my first time and then I got the original ramen pork char siu !!! My fav of favs for ramen!! Broth, to the egg and the noodles!!! Will be back for more!!
I usually like eating here. Their food is good. This time I came and order my usual and found a hair in my food. When I told the staff he responded “I’m sorry about that”. I will never be coming back to eat here. That is disgusting.🤮🤢
Tokyo Japanese steak house
Ok, not the best food I've ever eaten, starters were great, the dynasty rolls especially!! Katsu was a bit strange, served on a bed of lettuce, not seen this before, and was expecting a Katsu curry type dish. Good value, I'd choose differently for the main course next time.
Aside from the “show” the cook puts on for you, which is typically the highlight of going to Hibachi, the food was great and the portions plentiful. The filet mignon, chicken and salmon were the most tender I’ve ever tasted and it was all cooked to perfection right before our eyes.
Hunan Kitchen
If you've never tried this place your missing out. It very affordable and delicious. It's a pick a box and your items kind of place. Staff is great and they give generous portions.
YuMmmmmm.... Eating here right now for the first time and it will definitely not be the last time!!! It is SOOOOOO DELICIOUS!!! Really great food for such a decent price and quantity. Friendly service. Can't wait ta come back.
