New Golden Gate
This place would be much better if they had more lighting at night in the dining area. It's TOO dark. You can't see what you're eating very well. The chairs and tables are wonky or broken. There is menus used to try and keep them level. The carpet at the entrance is rolled and ripped this is a trip hazzard. The parking lot needs cleaned during the times it snows. Please clean before someone slips and falls.
Update: I didn't order extra heat, but I got it. And /man!/ this is sooooo good! I'm fighting off some seasonal allergies, and this dish just hit the spot! I'm thrilled that this place exists and is so close! There are not a lot of good options in this area. Some, but not like dahn tahn. This is like Dahn Tahn! The shrimp egg roll was light and crispy, plenty of sweet, tender shrimp and perfectly cooked cabbage. I wish I had remembered to order the house made mustard. It tastes like it has a little wasabi in it. The shrimp with snow peas came with baby corn and carrot slices and a nice, tasty stock glaze. I'm told you can request some heat if you want it. But this was just perfect base cooking. All of it perfectly cooked, sweet and tender. One note on the fried rice. It's good. But it may not be what you expect. It's not fried. It's just lightly seasoned with no veggies or meat. If you want those, they have veggie fried rice, various meat fried rice, and combo fried rice on the menu. You just have to know how to order. I'll be tossing mine on a piping hot oiled skillet when I heat it up tomorrow. Who goes to sleep looking forward to eating your leftovers next day? Me! At least tonight I am. And the prices and portions! I spent $15 and I'll be enjoying the leftovers for lunch and dinner tomorrow. I don't even think I could shop and cook this cheap. I know I can't do it so well. Sorry Fortune Star! This might be my new go-to. I haven't tried the Hot & Sour Soup yet. And I know your Chow Mein is better. I may still need you for those. We'll have to see.
