Shanghai Restaurant
Really good. The food was fresh and flavorful. Looks like a small family place and limited staff so service was a bit slow but well worth it. Very good food. The only issue was the area. I don’t know what’s happened to Bristol, but the people downtown are unfriendly.
If you’re looking for delicious authentic dining or takeout in Bristol, Virginia, look no further than Shanghai Restaurant! The spare ribs were tender and packed with flavor, while the lo mein was perfectly cooked. The sweet-and-sour dish was a perfect balance of tangy and sweet. Each bite was a treat! Highly recommend for an incredible meal! The owners were super greater and welcoming!
Wokky's
Pork fried rice has no vegetables no egg and is bland. Chicken fingers were fried until they became rocks pork egg rolls have no pork ..the beef sticks are really good!! Lee is awesome customer service is great the food needs more love and attention! The chicken lo-main is well balanced veggies noodles and plenty of chicken. The. Pork fried rice is what gets me upset! No egg at all .no veggies not a green onion in sight.no peas not even a sprout.. it's browned white rice a hint of soy sauce three pieces if diced pork and covered in whatever side u ordered I used to love this place chef Lee u lost the love I don't like to say it but your food is not good anymore u need to out the live back into your passion
This is a small hole in the wall place that I highly recommend trying. I've always gotten delicious food, the portions are solid, and the prices are very reasonable. The owner is also a very nice man, and seems to remember his regulars.
Sabaidee Thai Restaurant
I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. The service? Outstanding. Thai atmosphere? Typical but cozy. On to the food… As a seasoned Thai food partaker I usually start any first new Thai restaraunt visit with basil fried rice.-either shrimp chicken or pork. Anyone should do this. If you can cook this basic staple well you’ll know the chef is from Thailand and has skills only you can request. Hitting the charmed notes, I’m in for a QUICK revisit to try what I really want. the portion was huge. The flavor was good. I’d recommend it. It’s above standard Thai food with excellent service and great portion size. If you took your family here, I would say sounds like it’s gonna be a great night
Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food and great prices! We’ve come here three times in the past 2 weeks. Quickly became a new favorite. I’ve had a different dish every time and they’ve all been incredible!
Bite&tea
These sizes are massive. I ordered on their preferred website (meal kay via the direct link on their website) it said it would be ready in 30mins and I got a text to pick it up in 2 minutes after placing my order. I was not 2 minites away. Obviously the sizes are massive and as you can guess watered down to achieve this big size. I wish it was noted on the ordering because I ordered two drinks and definitely can not finish either. The matcha doesn't taste the best, very watery and not a strong taste. I did pay for brown sugar and was given regular. It's very soft like pudding. The boba portions are off as my medium matcha has more than the large (more like six flags large haha) guava green tea. After arriving there was someone sleeping under a jacket behind the counter so I had to wait a couple minites before someone appeared and then that same person who was resting handed me my drinks. I am definitely open to trying this place in the future but I would advise against ordering online and unless you're preparing for the whole day, I wouldn't get the large regularly. It's hard to tell but the large is literally bigger than my head which is great but unexpected to see. It's good to know someone has this option. It'd be nice if you could add another scoop of boba or other syrups etc. Update I started the guava green tea w strawberry popping boba: it tastes very sugary even with 50٪ and artifical only the after taste tastes like guava. It kinda reminds me of plastic for some reason. I definately wouldn't recommend this flavor
The food at the restaurant was disgusting. I ordered ramen, but they brought me Maruchan with way too many seasonings. The shrimp were covered in a thick layer of various spices that ruined the taste. As for the atmosphere: the staff was jumping and dancing around the place, and even in the kitchen, they were wearing headphones and shouting out song lyrics. I deeply regret the money I spent here and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a place to enjoy good food.
Fuji Japanese Steakhouse
Great place for hibachi and sushi. Drinks were super strong (at least to my liking) but wait for the food was pretty long. Over all - good spot :)
It's a decent hibachi place. Chef was very funny and interactive. All the food was tasty, hot, well seasoned, and an ok price (I've paid $10-20 more the closer you get to nyc). Downsides.....at least 30 minutes before we had someone take food and drink orders. Understaffed, even on a Sat night. And the food came out all in sequence, no overlap. Starch then protein then veg. I prefer places that cook the veg at the same time as the protein. No dessert included in the price.
Thai Avenue
We go pretty regularly and love their food. Always get the Thai ice tea! Wonton Pad Thai is amazing. Would highly recommend!
Ordered the Drunken Noodles with chicken and shrimp. Excellent flavor, generous portion, right amount of Thai heat & friendly service picking up the food! Must try! Looking forward to eating inside the beautiful dining room soon. So happy Bristol has a great Thai place!
Pho & Spice 2
I’m so happy to have found a pho restaurant by my house. The restaurant is clean & I was greeted/sat right away. I noticed in one of the reviews someone said the guy didn’t check on the table after they got their food. Which is true, but I personally enjoyed it. It was very peaceful. My husband and I were the only people there and when we were ready for our check, we just politely waved him down. The food was delicious! We had vegetarian pho, BO KHO, curry puffs & the tempura green beans along with a mango boba tea. Everything was great, no complaints. The menu has a wide variety of food items, I’m excited to go back and try something new! EDIT: I came back a second time & tried the chicken pho, wasn’t a fan. Took what I had left home and reheated it later for dinner… I had to throw it out because there was something weird inside that grossed me out.
Basil fried rice was plentiful and full of flavor. The Thai tea was a good pairing. 4 separate visits and the food has all been delicious.
Bonsai Japanese Restaurant
True hidden gem. It's one of my favorite restaurants in town. Great prices & always fresh & Delicious 😋
This place is such a hidden gem. The SUSHI IS THE BEST I've found in the area. It is always fresh and delicious. They also haven't messed up an order yet (I know it'll happen eventually but I've ordered out probably 50 times and still going strong). They are consistently consistent with super fresh fish and I know what I'm gonna get every time I order. My favorite item is the dinner bento box. It's a great mix of items and comes with a soup and salad.
Asian bistro
BEST CHINESE IN BRISTOL! That's what I searched to find this place, and once I ate here I didn't even want to give any of the other chinese restaurants in town a chance, out of fear of being disappointed. So I'm going to be presumptuous and say that it likely is the best in town! It's the only chinese spot in Bristol that I'll be dining at as long as it's open. Asian Bistro of Bristol satisfied my craving for chinese food today. I saw the general tso lunch special and knew it was the right choice. I ordered online but the person who came out to give me my order was very nice. I found the prices to be more than fair for what you receive in portions as well as quality. The chicken, was crispy and delicious, something that you unfortunately can't expect at other places, but you can here!
The best orange chicken ever so crispy and crunchy even after being closed up in a take out container for about 15 minutes. My son and wife loved their food too. We also ordered steamed dumplings which were huge and generously filled. We will be 100% ordering from here again soon!
Sakura kitchen
First time here and figured to try it because it’s being talked about on a few pages on social media. Plenty of parking but it’s easy to drive past it even though there’s a sign by the road, the place itself is set off the road and that part of Farmington Avenue is a drag strip. Food - I ordered the sesame chicken lunch special and as one other place that I ordered from, compared to others..you don’t get anything with it other than rice. So other places such as Lotus, China Chef, Sun Fat, Lee Po, etc..you get an egg roll with your lunch…not here. I ordered one anyway and it was delicious. The portion for the lunch was plentiful and the rice was great. The menu showed a red mark meaning spicy, there was zero spice to it. Overall…it wasn’t bad and will go back..but it’s not a place I would say is the best of the best..or even amazing…it’s Chinese food. I’ll continue my search for “the one”
Did not like this place at all. First, the entrance door confused me as it was an open door with a weird take out setup. The employee looked at me like u was stupid but that's ok lol. I ordered boneless BBQ ribs...I couldn't believe how dry this pork was! It was hard, very dark, dry and kept getting stuck in my teeth, the flavor was good but after a few pieces I threw it out. Chicken lo mein...noodles were good, chicken was tender but not much flavor. Sesame chicken, I requested all white meat...unfortunately they used the sweet and sour battered chicken so it was soggy, flavor was good though. Finally the pork egg roll...that was the best part of my order. Unfortunately my hunt for really good Chinese food in Bristol continues. $34 down the drain 😪
Sun Fat
Ask anyone in Bristol whether in person or on various social media pages, they’ll say Sun Fat Chinese is one of the best in the area. By the looks of it, at any given day..it’s always busy, so it’s by far the most popular Chinese restaurant in the area…I won’t say the best. Quick Note - Pretty much all the Chinese restaurants in this area all charge the same and the meals are the same..look at the menu, select food, pay and wait for it. The ones up here also give you a choice of egg roll or soup to go with your lunch order..that’s not just here, but ALL of the restaurants here in the Bristol/Plainville area. Food - I’ve been here on a couple of times and have tried various items from the pepper steak to the chicken and broccoli to the sesame chicken. It’s all your standard Chinese food restaurant..I don’t see where it is that far ahead of all the rest. Sesame Chicken was good…but not fantastic. You get a heaping portion of it but a ton of rice as well. The egg roll is sometimes soft, other times hard enough to go through a brick wall. Parking - It’s in the strip mall next to Subway in the MarketEdge/Price Chopper on Farmington Ave/Route 6/72. I’m giving it 4* total for a couple reasons…first being, no..I didn’t do a phone order..I never do on anything, it’s always as a walk-in. Got there at 2:55, went to order the lunch and was told “it ends at 3.”…I know, it’s not 3pm yet..I’m not one to argue so I said it is whatever and just give me the regular portion then…so because of that and the egg roll being rock hard, I’d give it on a 1-5…3.8-4.1
This is our second time ordering and we got three orders of the fried chicken nuggets, I’m pregnant and this is my newest craving, the chicken nuggets are fried perfectly and they’re moist and the chicken inside is so good, my husband and our son love them!! Best chicken nuggets we’ve had so far!!
Chopsticks Kitchen
Ordered general tsos and it was shallowly the WORSE one ever had…whatever that was it wasn’t chicken, it was like biting into a sponge. Absolutely horrible. I give them 2 stars bc the rice was good and they added broccoli which many places have stopped doing but the chicken is a 0
Hey, I really thought this looked great and im sure there was a lot of effort put into my food… but I genuinely felt like the chicken also tasted like pork, and sadly the orange chicken just had no flavor and the noodles were extremely dry, the spring rolls were great but it just wasn't what I was expecting! I could have just got unlucky and maybe everyone's tired after a long day and the reviews are really great and the place was nice and clean and had great service. I just hope that I don’t come off as rude and disrespectful, I hope that maybe in the future things may be better
