New Hunan Kitchen
We've ordered food here a few times and we've enjoyed it. It's definitely Americanized Chinese food, so keep that in mind. My partner is Chinese-American and he enjoys it too. They have great service and are friendly. We have ordered sweet and sour pork, lemon chicken, bbq pork, pork fried rice, fried shrimp, sesame beef, and pot stickers. If ordering to go, I recommend asking for sauces on the side, especially for the lemon chicken. They thoughtfully package their food to release steam so food stays crunchy. Really appreciate that! We did have one batch of dried out chicken once but that was out of our typical experience. One thing to try for sure is their concoction of spicy mustard with sweet and sour sauce which came with our bbq pork... We dipped everything in it. It's genius. Leftovers for days!
Update: we went late at around 8:30 pm April 2023 and ordered food to go. To our surprise the prices have gone up drastically and we paid around $70 for dry flavorless food. We only ordered 4 plates but most of it ended up in the trash, the portions were smaller than I remembered, certain parts had big chunks of salt while the noodles had absolutely no flavor. The orange chicken was less than desirable, the recipe has been changed and sauce tastes artificial . Overall my family was very disappointed with our dinner selection. We were in the neighborhood not knowing what to eat for lunch, and pick the first spot we saw in the area, so happy to have found this little place. We placed the order in person, food was ready within 15 mins, we tried 5 items, not too greasy, very flavorful, it ended up being so much food. I’m usually skeptical about Chinese food but we really enjoyed everything.
Canton Phoenix II Bar
You guys seriously have the BEST food I’ve had in a long time - Megan is such a sweet bartender as well. 10/10 experience, I will 100% be here weekly now & tell everyone I know about this place. Such a great vibe, amazing service, out of this world food - I am just shocked it’s not super busy right now. Canton Phoenix deserves all the business because I haven’t had a restaurant experience this great in years probably. Love love love 5+ stars !!! Thank you so much!!! I got the chicken fried rice & crab puffs - literally AMAZING. THIS PLACE SHOULD NOT BE EMPTY IT IS 100000% A HIDDEN GEM I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS IM JUST IN SHOCK OF HOW GREAT EVERYTHING IS - I just moved here & I’m SO happy I found this place!!!! 10/10 5 star experience !!! ** Pictures are bad but I promise this place is killer - I don’t ever write reviews lol this is actually my first ***
It's getting harder to find really good, fresh Chinese food these days. Canton Pheonix II Bar had great fresh food and very generous portions as well.
Panda Express
sometimes the food can be good, other times it can be complete garbage. Last time I went, I couldn’t even eat my food. It was so bad. I’m only giving it three stars because sometimes it does hit I can’t lie but other than that the employees seem to hate their jobs for some reason although I do know that panda does pay pretty good
Ordered online and asked for it to be ready at 12:30. Right at 12:30 an employee offered me a drink for free (presumably because my food wasn’t ready right then?) and I accepted. Then my order was ready at 12:31! They were incredibly busy with in person and online orders and thanked me for waiting even though I wouldn’t have been bothered even if my order had been late seeing as they were so busy.
Wong's Chinese Restaurant
The bar is what seems to be keeping this place alive. Not surprising when the almond chicken comes with peanuts. Rushed to order, couldn’t communicate well with the one ( and only ) host / waitress there. She came three times to see if we were ready within 5 minutes. Looking for a quiet peaceful dinner with your family? Not here you’re not. The obnoxious music from the bar won’t allow that. Sweet & Sour pork was heavy on the breading. 0/5 Mostly bread. Almond chicken was good but nothing spectacular. 3/5 Average. Egg flower soup was mid. Had tofu and was salty 1/5 BBQ pork was dry. 0/5 Spring roll was very oily, mushy and probably came from a box 0/5 When we wanted to wrap up. To bad we weren’t ordering because she was nowhere to be found. When she did come by she just walked by asking how everything was. Not to actually check on us. The place was dead. We were the only people in there other than those in the bar. Which had a bartender. I can’t recommend this place. It looks dated, bad service and food. I get a better experience at Panda Express in every aspect. Which is sad because I want small businesses to do well but this place doesn’t deserve that. I think the space could be better utilized.
100% disgusting! The combos do not come with fried rice by the way. I just paid $35 for one single combo to be delivered and it probably what the most disgusting Chinese food I’ve ever eaten in all of my life. Absolutely absolutely horrific. I had to spit out the chow mein because it tasted completely like a rotted almond. The sweet-and-sour chicken was absolute, absolute mush. A slimy disgusting mess. The barbecued beef with black and it’s just one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen in front of me my goodness. This is foul. Don’t fall for the $.49 delivery fee.
