Far East Chinese Food
I really wanted to like this and there were some successes. Overall kinda mediocre. Food was hit and miss with some dishes tasteless. Customer service was horrendous. Value for money was good overall and vegetables were super fresh. If I went again we’ll avoid certain dishes and recommend you do too but there are some wins. - Spring rolls: $1 each: these are terrible. Small. Tasteless. Clearly frozen and bought in. 1/10 - Vegetable Lo Mein: actually really nice! Best part of the meal. 9/10 - Tofu in black bean sauce: completely tasteless and watery: 1/10. - Chicken fried rice: a little light on the amount of chicken and the rice was a bit sticky, but it was a hit overall with our family: 7/10 - Bok Choy: great texture but completely tasteless even though it is fried with garlic. Can’t hate it though as it was cooked well. 7/10. - Beef with vegetables: Very watery but, tasted nice. 8/10. Now, let’s talk about customer service. It’s horrendous! I got yelled at down the phone and then yelled at again when I came to pick up the order. I actually don’t care but, it’s not professional. 2/10. Forget all of the above… the restaurant is absolutely filthy. There is dirt everywhere. If the front is so gross, who knows what’s in the back. 1/10. Advice for management: put someone polite on order taking. Improve the quality of your frozen fried foods that you bring in. And give the front of house a wipe down.
Best Chinese food in the West End, no doubt. My family have literally been ordering from them since before I was born, and nothing else has ever quite compared. My personal favorites are the Cantonese chow mein, General Tao chicken, and the egg rolls are excellent. Only downside is paying with cash, but after working in small businesses, I know the debit card readers are expensive to keep. Helps keep costs on the menu down, however.
