Yan's Kitchen
I’m not sure why the rating is not high. Indeed the price is higher and portion is smaller than average Toronto restaurants. But I think the quality and taste justify it. Everything we ordered tasted pretty nice. Smaller portions are also perfect for sampling a few different dishes. Dumplings are a bit disappointing though. This place is busy on a Saturday night but service is not bad.
Fist time there. The restaurant is a bit run down. A paint job and fixing the loose floor boards can go a long way. Very small place, so I don’t think it would cost a lot to improve. Some DIY will do. Food tastes fine. Some dishes on the sweet side. Some were just right. No complaints for a Shanghai person like myself. Price is on the high side. Most Shanghai cuisines are a bit more expensive in Toronto. I can accept that. The men’s washroom is small. This isn’t the issue. The issue is that there is only one toilet area with no door, and no urinals. A little more privacy would be appreciated. Free parking and plenty of spaces. It’s a plus.
