Szechwan Garden - Lakewood, OH
I went here for dinner on a Sunday night along with my brother. The restaurant was empty so, we got ourselves a table right away. I ordered Fried Tofu and Veggies and Garlic Sauce. I liked the tofu but the other one wasn't great. My brother got an Egg Flower Soup and I'm not sure of the other dish that he ordered. They have a variety of options for vegetarians and their pricing is fine. The service that the waiter was offering us wasn't good. I hope it improves in the future. Driving for about 30 minutes based on a friend's recommendation wasn't worth it.
We love to stop at Szechwan Garden when we’re on the west side. The staff has always been very nice and the food is good, but their Orange Beef is exceptional! We call it "the one, true Orange Beef." Their Zen menu (vegetarian) is very good, too, and very tasty whether you’re vegetarian or not. Tofu and spinach is very tasty (or is it spinach and tofu?), as well as other items we’ve tried on the Zen menu. Szechwan garden offers carry out, and has a dining room with several tables and booths. I believe they offer delivery through one of the food services, too. The restaurant isn't large but could easy handle a small gathering of family or friends, though you may wish to call ahead for groups. There could be a short wait at peak times, though it's not often an issue. Note, the parking area is quite small; there is parking along the side street, next to the small plaza, where it's located. Groups may want to carpool.
China Express
It seems like all the Chinese spots in my neighborhood have become bland so we traveled to Lakewood and tried this place and it is excellent. It has all your favorites very well prepared and flavorful. Friendly people too
The person answering the phone has no personality, i had to ask if this restaurant was china express she just said" hello" . Food was horrible ordered sesame chicken it had a rancid taste and had so much batter ( 25% meat 75 batter) meat was hard and the sauce had ketchup in it, definitely not fresh and same goes for the pork lo mein the meat tasted old rancid. I think this was the worst Chinese food I ever had. Definitely will not order from here again.
China Garden
I was in the area and was hungry so I stopped and got a shrimp lo mean and shrimp egg roll. 1 eggroll was 2.25, and not worth it at all. There wasn't much inside the roll at all. They could definitely fill them more for your money. But the lo mein was perfect! Noodles were firm and fresh, not mushy. The flavors were very good, too. The steamed dumplings are excellent! 👌🏾There are no compliants this way. I'd definitely try other dishes if I lived over here. I'm definitely coming back if I'm in the area.
I had never ordered from here before. I got it off DoorDash, I should’ve looked at reviews first. The flavor and taste was so off! It was bland and cold. Fried rice had a weird sweet and old taste to it. Couldn’t get a refund through DoorDash.
