Panda Express
Panda Express is the BeSsSt!! I’m visiting from out of town. When my aunt said “I love Chinese food. Wish they had some around here—“ and I jokingly said “sometimes I just get Panda Express…” she lit up & remembered “oh! We do have one! It’s a little bit of a drive…” — but it was worth it! ♥️ this location has a drive-thru. (Not all of them do)
China Garden Restaurant
The menu they have advertised on Google is WRONG. My order was $71 and some change. They refused to honor the advertised price. Will not be eating here again. They claimed its not the advertised price just because it was on Google. My food was almost double what they had posted. Edit: after trying our food its mediocre at best. The only thing that was actually good was the egg fried rice. Mongolian beef, chicken Lorain, egg fried rice in the photos.
China Garden is my go to place for when I’m back visiting Bismarck. They have been around forever so there is some nostalgia built in but also, their egg rolls are like nothing you have ever experienced. Also, highly recommend this sweet and sour chicken as well ass Mongolian beef. It can be a little hard to find since it’s on the back side of North Brook Mall. Finally, love their egg drop soup. This is what I compare all other egg drop soups to
China Town Buffet
If I could leave a negative 100 star review for this place, I absolutely would. It looks like they chose quantity over quality. As they have an outstanding amount of choices, it is just not delicious choices. I would recommend that you don't come here. It is not the second best Chinese food place in Bismarck, it wouldn't even rank in the top 100 if they had a 100 places. Honestly, the only decent thing I found is their cream cheese wontons. Those are delightful. I got a spring roll and it was doughy. How the hell do you end up with a doughy spring roll? I've never had any place mess up a spring roll. The coffee was so bad I literally spat it out the minute it was in my mouth. I have tasted some swamp swill and I can tell you, I have never, ever spat it out like I did this. The peppered chicken was edible. Although I'm still not 100% convinced I was eating chicken. The beef and broccoli was not bad, but I don't know, I've had better, their mushrooms I put them all over the rice, It was pretty good. The rice definitely needs the help, I can make better at home. Most of the items we tried had an off flavor and was super greasy. We had what we think is pineapple chicken, but I don't, I don't know, it did not taste like pineapple chicken. My lunch partner went back for seconds on the Shanghai Noodles, so they must be okay and he seemed to enjoy their what looked like butterfly shrimp. I should not have so much grease all over my lips, from the food, that people think it's lip gloss. And let's not even discuss the fellow who was in the back, in the area that says sushi, making hawking/coughing up a loogie, noises while loudly on the phone during our entire stay in the restaurant. Pretty dark and dingy in here, but not dingy enough to stop me from noticing the grease all over the side of the wall in our booth. No wonder they get you to pay before you sit down. I can see why. The picture does not do the disturbing grease marks justice, it was pretty gross. The fresh fruit looked good. But I was so disturbed by the Chinese food Itself, that I couldn't even look at the fruit or the chocolate pudding they had which I was kind of excited about.
We got here around 7pm, after supper but before 9pm close. Much of what we ate had been sitting for a while. No one likes old hard food. Not all of it was bad and they would occasionally bring something fresh out. I get that it's toward the end. We paid full price for good food not discounted price for older dried up food. We did not say anything but made the best of it. Coming in it looked nice. Looking close it was dirty (windows, bathroom stalls, floors). They began sweeping and mopping before 8pm. Before leaving used the restrooms again. I thought a toilet overflowed, it appeared that wet. I looked at all stalls as I learned the first one first doesn't lock. They just mopped it that wer and missed spots on the glory floor and did nothing about the stalls. The toilet seat was very wet not just wiped wet-gross! I damn near fell 3 times If the cleaning in one area isn't good, what is the rest like? Do they short cut that?
Hong Kong
Wow, I think Easterners don't know how to make good fried rice. I live in Florida and they also don't know how to make fried rice. The truth is that this Hong Kong is very bad, the food even gave me naunsia and I had to throw away the leftover food. Very nasty food.
says they are open 4-8pm on Mondays but does not let me order and says only the kids menu is available. I try to call them and no answer.
Panda Express
Ordering line was very short. Fresh meat, rice and veggies were tasty. Added the sweet and sour sauce to the rice which made it moist.
Stopped in with the kids (it's usually one of there favorite places to eat for the noodles especially). This time it wasn't very busy and the food was lacking compared to our usual visits. We had the chow me in noodles, orange chicken, broccoli beef and tried the sesame chicken. I think it was the noodles but something was cooked with too much liquid smoke (could smell it bad when opening the boxes to eat).
