Newtown Chinese Restaurant
Two years ago, I would’ve given this restaurant a five star because of the food but now the food seems to be on the way down. I got the chicken with broccoli lunch combo platter and it’s not the same as it was years ago. It seems the rice is not as good and the chicken is slimy and snot like, I did however love love the egg roll. That has not seem to change in all the years that I’ve been going to so, hopefully it won’t. That’s what I would recommend the egg roll and the dumplings. The amount that they give you now is also less than what it was. They used to give you a lot for a combo platter. Now it’s not that much at all. And if you got it at lunchtime, they would give you a soup and now they don’t do that anymore either. It changes, so maybe in a year I’ll try it again. It might go back to the way it was.
I’ve been ordering from this place for years now. It used to be the best in Sussex. The food is nowhere close to the standard It used to be. It tastes, old overcooked or undercooked don’t order from here go to Changs garden literally a minute away. The fried rice was so dry and old it was inedible. The chow mein doesnt come with noodles and the consistency is snot-like. Not a good experience as have been the last few times.
China Great Wall
Foods good however Owner. Says consistently. My Friend. I give you the Big one ..what he doesn't say is. MY FRIEND I CHARGE YOU FOR BIG ONE. I've told him. He is over charging me. But consistently does it...SMH
We just moved upstate from Long Island and were skeptical about finding a good Chinese take out place. That being said, I asked a local and this place was recommended. I found Their menu online and called to order. The man who picked up was super friendly! When I went To pick up, he was still friendly and welcoming and had a little conversation with me (through the covid plastic) while packing my order. He welcomed me to the area and said he’ll see me soon! 😬 we got home and the food was all delicious!! To my surprise, my very picky 12 year old gave this food a rating of 11 out of 10! Not only was the food delicious, but the portions are huge. We will have leftovers for the weekend! (We ordered: egg foo young, plain lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, egg drop soup, and vegetable spring rolls)
Doyle's Pub
Visited with my girlfriend for the first time and we both thought it was mediocre. The place looked big on the outside but when we entered it was not big meaning dining area seating. Not sure if it was multi level but it just felt small and the atmosphere was lacking excitement. The service was excellent and a big shout out to Anastasia for her fantastic service. The staff greeted us among entering and exiting which was great too. Now to the food… my girlfriend had the turkey dinner and I had the Reuben with fries and appetizer potato wedges. Corn bread and stuffing was not the greatest and the texture of the corn beef was not good for me. I like moist dense corn bread and traditional stuffing. The fries were nice and crispy. The turkey, carrots and mashed potatoes were delicious. A generous amount of food which is great for the price unfortunately the taste of the 2 items is a recommended pass from me. I would come back to try another dish but not anytime soon. Maybe we will have a better taste experience next time!
Went on St. Patty's Day. Delicious corned beef and cabbage. Great drinks and table service. Little hard to get a drink at the packed bar, but it was very busy.
Oriental Restaurant
Worst food I’ve ever had. I literally got one tiny scoop of rice, the food is so greasy i at very little of it. They put dumpling sauce under the dumplings instead of putting it in a separate container. The grease you see here is after I dumped it out, so my food wasn’t getting saturated in it. I’ve been to many many Chinese restaurants and I’ve never gotten Such a small amount of rice with a combo plate. The chicken finger was dry and saturated in grease, as was the Rangoon. I will never return.
A long standing top quality eatery. Nicely prepared. I love the Filipino food also. One consideration if you have sodium sensitivity - the Filipino dishes, particularly the adobo, tends to be on the saltier side. Thanks for being open and serving lovely food for all of these years!
Mill House Brewing Company
To give this establishment 5 stars would be a drastic understatement. While visiting the area from upstate, my girlfriend and I unexpectedly stopped in for lunch. We were greeted with a smile and sat immediately. Our server was attentive and on point during the entire visit. The food was amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to have a good meal and enjoy a great atmosphere. It appears they also have a private area upstairs for events, which only adds to the value. I’m sure the night life here is very enjoyable! Would definitely visit again if I am in the area.
Such a great resteraunt! The servers are great, and so is the food. I recommend their burgers. The atmosphere is very unique with multiple floors and cool decor. Highly recommended!
