Flaming Grill & Buffet
We have nothing to complain about. We're from Virginia and this is our first trip here. We've been to many buffets, and this one is similar to the one we tried in California but cheaper. There are so many options to choose from, at least 20 different choices, including Chinese cuisine, Japanese sushi, seafood, fast food, desserts, and ice cream. There are plenty of tables here, and the place is very spacious. The staff is friendly and attentive. And most importantly, it's so cheap! $17 includes tax for all of this is totally worth it. You will not believe what is the most favorite dish of us... It's actually the mushroom. Try it!
Haven't been to an Asian buffet in a while but this one caught my eye due to its low price point (16.99/17.99 for adult dinner on a Friday). The food selection was good and the hibachi option was very delicious. I enjoyed their coconut shrimp, sugar coated buns, and hibachi fried rice. However, their sushi was very disorganized and not labeled so I had no clue what I was getting. I would also not recommend getting their fried calamari (felt like rubber and didnt taste good) and their eggrolls (barely any meat). Would definitely come back to try some more food options.
Panda Express
PERFECT PLACE IF YOU WANT THE WRONG ORDER. I don’t think I have ever gotten a correct order from this place. I told the guy I wanted teriyaki and kung pao with chow mein. He told me to wait since teriyaki was still cooking so I did. I paid and waited. THREE……3 people knew my exact order because they asked me over and over. And still they messed it up🤦♂️ this is like the 5th time. The Asian dude(idk his name)who was taking the order literally repeated my order back to me 4 times… And no, idc if I can get a new one if I come back. I drove 30 mins to come get food and I’m not driving 30 more minutes for your mistake. I’m genuinely shocked how “slow” these workers are. How do you even mess ts up? Again if this was a one time thing it wouldn’t be a big deal. But this is a regular occurrence . You’re better off going to the Panda in Woodbridge. If you read this, tell your employees to listen. It’s not that hard.
You pick your portions. The teriyaki chicken is always good and the sauce on the rice makes it even better. The shrimp was my favorite. Usually no wait on food they keep it coming. Many options to choose from and if you dont eat a certain meat they have other options. The line was long but went quick. Seating area available and restroom on site. The sweat and sour packets are a good topper as well. Pay with card or cash. Parking available.
Ugly Dumpling
Visited twice this week with different groups, one for late lunch and the other for dinner. The dinner experience was good. Tried the Peach Blossom drink which was a fun treat. The crystal shrimp dumplings were amazing! Shared the pork and crab and shrimp spinach soup dumplings. Thought they could be soupier but enjoyable with the vinegar condiment. The green beans were tasty and tender but had a light crunch. The scallion pancake could benefit from more scallion/flavor. Shared the beef stir fry noodles with my friend and they were delicious. Other guest with us got the pork chop fried rice. The waitress was attentive and the food comes out at sporadic times. The second time, lunch visit tried other menu options. The braised beef soup was SO tasty, had a warm and enjoyable flavor and the braised baby back ribs were tender and flavorful and a great serving. Friends got different flavored soup dumplings that seemed soupier so I’d be open to try again and a lava cake with that’s lava was on the outside. The service was incredibly slow for this visit and they sat us a bit too close to the door. They were apologetic but a bit of a let down.
Inspired by the vibrant flavors of Shanghai street food, Ugly Dumpling is a popular restaurant chain that serves traditional as well as modern Chinese cuisine. Located at the former site of Dragonfly Restaurant & Bar inside Aviation Plaza in Linden, I came to this establishment for takeout as a first-timer. Recently opened, and upon arrival, I was greeted by Giselle. Their interior was nicely laid out, well-lit, simple, with a modern flair of Asian vibe. There was plenty of room, and the tables were not right on top of each other. One can see how the dumplings are made behind a clear glass enclosure. Their menu features a variety of dim sums, soup dumplings, wontons, noodles, and greens. I decided on the pork soup dumplings, which are obviously a must, and scallion pancakes. The sauces that came with each dish were the perfect combination. The food presentation was simple, clean, and absolutely amazing. The pancakes were crispy, crunchy, and not greasy, just the way I like them. The dumplings were house-made, the liquid held beautifully, and it tasted amazing with a nice ginger kick. The price was a bit steep but well worth it for the delicious meal, which I can recommend.
