Golden China Resturant
Restaurant looked like it was boarded up and closed, staff only spoke English enough to insult my daughter, food is drastically overpriced ($4 to add green onion on an entree?! GREEN ONION!), fried rice looked like they ran out of soy sauce, somehow most of the sauce from garlic chicken was in the bag and there was still too much garlic (for a reference of this, my daughter has been known to eat a spoonful of garlic-- "too much garlic" is not a phrase she utters often). Chicken was overcooked, vegetables were both overcooked and undercooked (IN THE SAME DISH SOMEHOW), fried rice was nearly indistinguishable from white rice (which was undercooked-- HOW DOES A CHINESE RESTAURANT SCREW UP RICE?!) The fried rice contained beef that looked like someone had boiled it before they fried it-- that sickly grey color you get when beef's about to go off? that, but add "looks boiled". On top of that, the online ordering system cannot accept payments (probably should've been my first clue not to get food here) and the food wasn't ready by the time the ordering system said-- this is very unprofessional. Add the price ($80 for 3 adults and a toddler!) and this place has earned the "wish I could give it 0 stars" award. Skip this place and go to either Asian Wok or House of Lee, or literally anywhere else including an actual dumpster.
I ordered sesame chicken with broccoli and extra sauce, chicken fried rice with no green onions and crab Rangoon. The lady on the phone repeated my order and they still messed it up and didn't give or ring me up for the Rangoons. There was green onions in my food and I had no broccoli and the chicken was nasty and dry. Very disappointed. I will not be back.
KNYAW MU THAI RESTAURANT
I’ve had Thai food from coast to coast and I always feel like Omaha punches way above its weight class as a city when it comes to Thai food. Knyaw absolutely falls into that category. I had the spring rolls, chicken wings, pad thai, and KaNa Mu Crob. All were fantastic and I will definitely be back. They also have fish sauce and chilis at the table if you want to add a punch to your dish to suit your personal preferences.
One of the best Thai restaurants in Omaha. I’ve been to Tasty Thai, Salween, Mercy, etc. Easily, the pad Thai is the best I’ve had here. I love how authentic the restaurant seems with the fish sauce, chili, vinegar toppings available at the table. The chicken wings were also so good! Definitely will be coming back!
Ika Ramen
The SPICY SEAFOOD RAMEN 🤤… recommended by my server Monica and it did NOT disappoint. I switched up the egg to the soy marinated one (her suggestion as well). If I lived in Omaha I’d be here at least 1x a week. Playlist was dope too! Cool spot. Highly recommend 👍🏽
The food was great! It came out fast and it was piping hot! Would definitely recommend and will for sure be visiting again. We got the 68104, East LA and the Mary Jane ramen bowls. YUM! We also got Pork Gyoza and Spicy Cucumbers small plates. *chefs kiss*!
Star Deli
It was very casual with many fire pits & you can get wood they supply for free & put it in your fire thing...roast marshmallows, have cocktails...nice conversation! It's not too loud even though it has live music! Bartenders were friendly & we really had a great time!! We didn't have food so can't say much about that... It was perfect for getting together with old friends & family!
Expect about 30+ mins after your pickup time. Food was horrible, forgot half the ingredients and sauce. Service is awful if ordering takeout. Used to be a good, quick stop for a great sandwich. Those days are unfortunately gone. Id rather avoid this place and hit the Subway on Ames. Better food and service. Also, USE GLOVES WHEN YOU MAKE MY SANDWICH. Disgusting.
Bärchen Beer Garden
Stopped in to grab a snack and a beer while warming up from the cold Nebraska winter. We were greeted by a friendly older gentleman who took his time helping us pick the perfect beers to enjoy alongside some amazing pretzels. The place has plenty of seating, and TVs line the walls, so you can catch a game while you relax. Overall, it’s a wonderful spot to visit if you enjoy German-themed food and drinks. Highly recommend it!
As someone who’s lived in Omaha my whole life, I’ve been to a lot of places that claim to have the best burger in town, and out of all of those places, there is only one that I continue to go back to every time: Bärchen Beer Garden in Benson. These burgers are so delicious! Melty Gouda cheese, juicy Waygu beef patties, pickled red onions, and a house made burger sauce served on a soft and airy potato bread bun. Along with the burgers, they have yummy cocktails, specialty shots, and a long list of beers to try. Every time we have gone, the restaurant has been clean, the staff has been super nice and attentive, and the food has been top notch. The back patio is great for larger groups and a fun place to spend a beautiful day. Next time you’re in the mood for a good burger, definitely go show Bärchen some love!
Sgt. Peffer's Cafe Italian
Took my daughter on a date here this past weekend. The spaghetti and meatballs was exactly we were looking for. It was big enough for us to split, each getting a meat ball and she had plenty of left overs. We got a side salad and extra rolls. We should have gotten the house dressing. Ranch and blue cheese dressing was in a package. The waitress was kind and knowledgeable. The busser was attentive and cleaned tables who finished quickly. The tables and chairs need some help. Our table tilted and rocked considerably. The chairs were plastic and uncomfortable. Otherwise, the decor and atmosphere were inviting. We’ll definitely be back!
I was there on a busy Friday. I expected a long wait so that wasn't the issue. it had been decades since I've been there and was looking forwaed to trying their food again . i ordered the barbecue meatball appetizer for 9.99, in addition to a pizza. The pizza came after the expected wait and I continued to wait for the meatballs so finally i asked about it. the staff member came out and handed me a little take out cup that felt light. I was expecting something a bit more substantial so i asked the person if this was the barbecue meatballs i ordered and was told " the kitchen is really busy." I should have opened it and looked but my hands were full with the pizza box and I had already been sitting there for 40+ minutes and had a 20-minute drive yet to get home. When I got home I opened the container and found about 10 small chunks of meat that were not barbecued. I wasn't going to turn around and drive back down there but I did email the address on the website with this picture, asking for clarification on this product. And never received word back from them.
Salween Thai Restaurant
The steamed dumplings were amazing, they had this crispy flavorful stuff on top, and the fried dumplings were nicely crispy/crunchy. The pad Thai was flavorful and cooked well. I got chicken, level 1, cuz I'm a pansy.. and it was incredible. I def could've gotten 2 or 3 but I'm still happy with it. He said his level 6 chicken PT was a little dry but pretty good, and would def get a 7 next time. Would highly recommend, and will go back!
When you walk into the restaurant, the inside looked unorganized and looked like it was still under construction. The food and services were great. I also didn't realize that there were two of the Salween Thai restaurants in Omaha, both of them had similar menu.
