Ma Ma China
Moved to Raytown last year and we've tried the various Chinese food places at least three times each. Today, we ordered Ma Ma China carry out as they don't do dine-in or drive thru. The food was ready when they said it would be. We ordered twice cooked pork, General Tso's chicken, beef with green peppers, shrimp with broccoli, chicken with cashew nuts, spring rolls, large hot and sour soup, crab rangoon, steamed dumplings, combo fried rice, and chicken fried rice (no carrots or peas). Order was accurate, everything was fresh, very warm to hot, and delicious. The lady at point of sale was nice and polite. We'll be visiting this place again. Took pics while still in the container, nice and packed. My kids took the dumplings and chicken fried rice before I could get pics. Lots of steamed rice in separate containers! Thanks for being open on a Sunday!
First time trying Chinese since I've been in KC and I'm disappointed. I ordered chicken fried rice with spring rolls. It was nowhere near the best but wasn't the worst I've had. The food had no flavor whatsoever. I had to doctor the rice and chicken with soy sauce sweet n sour sauce and duck sauce just to eat it. Apparently the rice wasnt fresh because I found hard rice balls throughout the meal. Terrible. It's strange because the food was hot but those hard rice balls were room temperature so I'm assuming the rice was refrigerated then reheated. Unacceptable.
Shanghai Express
Made to order food so nice and hot, but idk what happened to the vegetables. Fried rice was just gray rice, lo mein was yellow spaghetti. 3 entrees and 2 orders of ragoon for $50 isn't bad though.
I recently moved back to KCMO after spending 8 years in Minnesota and finally had the chance to return to Shanghai Express... I cannot believe it. After 8 years the quality of ingredients and the restaurant itself has retained the standard that used to make this a regular quick stop on my way home from a long day. Find your favorite and you'll make sure you find your way back. Update: 10/08/2024 Drive-Thru Lunch I had Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, brown rice, which came with a Crab Rangoon. I also ordered the egg drop soup, this was the first time having the soup as the last time it was sold out, but I had gone right before close. The Shrimp with Lobster Sauce was 10/10 very savory and all the proper flavors. The Crab Rangoon was very delicious, and had a nice crispy crunch and plenty of filling. The egg drop soup had a nice flavor and texture, not too much egg and plenty of broth. The amount of soup for the price is quite surprising. A great deal for the price. I recommend the restaurant and everything I ordered.
