House of Lo
Had takeout from here the other day. Hadn’t been here in a while and didn’t realize that takeout might be all they do now. I also made sure to bring cash but they also seem to take cards now, although you need to pay a fee. Food was good. I got the egg foo young and chow mein, and it was a bit on the salty side. Also got beef and broccoli, orange chicken, egg rolls and cream cheese wantons. Orange chicken had large chunks of chicken that they placed in a bag. The sauce was on the side. I would probably order that again. The beef and broccoli was pretty standard. The egg rolls were great. We usually order from Chin Yuen in Monticello but glad I switched it up.
The food is fantastic. Have done pick-up 3 times and always fresh and warm. Had the pleasure of meeting the owners this time which was great. Shared some laughs. I live close and will keep coming back
Southern China Cafe
I cant even express my disappointment. I loved the authentic Asian flavors there, not the buffet, real take out orders. The flavor was on point. Now it's gone :(. This is about today though. There is no way that the cooks, (will never call that from a chef) have any experience in Asian cooking. I could wing it and do much much better. Chicken almond ding, no onion, no garlic, no bamboo, no ginger, no almonds. It was celery chicken and (fresh button mushrooms zero flavor) horrible experience. I'm so sad, I miss real Asians cooking real Asian food. Sad human in faribault.
30 years ago this place was fantastic! The egg rolls are still on point and worth the trip, and their homemade dipping sauce is great! They are take out only now (so no buffet) which was a drag after driving an hour, but I made it work. The entrance / waiting area hadn't had attention in quite some time. The sweet and sour pork was still pretty good but the sauce was really watery so the fried meat pieces were soggy and falling apart. The fried rice wasn't the same (bland). But stop for egg rolls! And just pretend not to notice the entrance. Lol
