Chinn Chinn
I went to this place for the first time over the weekend and it was packed. However, I noticed that the service was very quick and we got a table in 15 minutes even when there were 3 other families waiting before us. Although the food was good, it wasn't as good as the reviews say it is. Also, I think the fried vegetables were a little bit too oily.
A past lover of mine introduced me to this place & I can say.. it easily became one of my favorite places to eat in all of Michigan. The food is amazing and the portion sizes are well worth the money. We always had extra to take home. The hibachi steak dinner & the spring rolls are my absolute favorite. The whole menu is amazing. The hot mustard sauce that comes w the spring rolls is the reason I became obsessed w this place. The feeling that sauce gives you is so euphoric and it makes me laugh w each bite from the sensation it gives. I'm addicted to the sauce & that feeling. I know it sounds silly but the hot mustard sauce is a whole experience in itself. I always get a batch to go home with. I am about 2 hours away & I have no other reason to go to the area anymore but I have recently been planning a trip to go down just to go here. So worth it!! I heard the sauce was house made... if an employee or manager wants to email me the recipe or ingredients they use.. I would be forever grateful! ππΌπ If you haven't been here before... GO! RUN DON'T WOK!!
Tea Pot East
These folks had a capacity crowd when we walked in. But the service was on the spot, and we got our table in the time it took to read the specials. Real food, Real service! Really good !
Disappointed. Hadn't been there in years. What happened? What changed? New owners? Gravy needed seasoning. Biscuits were warmed up day old. Had to be old based on texture. $5 for a flat hockey puck sized serving of cornbeef hash. Last weekend, different restaurant, full plate of hash for the same price. So, 4 adults cost almost $60 with tip. Not steak and eggs. B&G w/hash, French toast... Crossing off our list of good breakfast joints.
Chan's Palace
First time trying this place. Ordered general Tsoβs. Two chunks of chicken in my whole meal. Call to get refunded and they want us to make the 30min round trip out there again to get it replaced.
It's one of my favorite places to go get food when I get a good chunk of money. Yeah, the food is expensive, but it's worth it. Each dish has a unique signature taste, which is the best part. Also, great service and speed.
RICH CHINA
Worse place I've ever eaten, walk in and felt like we were intruding, the waiter was not nice at all. For a sit down restaurant you get a Styrofoam plate, a plastic fork, and a square of napkin. No offer of a glass of ice with your pop. The food was tasteless except the beef and broccoli which was spoiled. I only left a 1 star because nothing less. The guy was in back hollering at a child really loud. No I don't recommend this place. I tried to find something nice about the place to leave a plus but I found none.
Great food and a great price, very reminiscent of the California Chinese food I grew up with in SoCal. Every dish was cooked to perfection and I will definitely be coming back. Try the BBQ Spareribs...all I can say is muah...
China Cafe
No longer offer table service, to go or eat to go order at the table only. Fairly extensive new menu with updated prices and lots of options for you to pick from. Place has a dated interior (as so much of SoHa is) however the prices are pretty low for the area and the food is plentiful as well as very tasty. Ordered a few items to try them out and sample their skills and recipes. The teriyaki beef sticks is a solid 4 outta 5 The orange chicken was so hot and very tasty I burned my mouth shoveling it in lol The hot and sour soup was just meh, I think they messed up the recipe on this one cause it tastes nothing like any of the 1000s of H&S soups I've tried through my travels - tasted like a lemon vegetable soup or something π€· was not hot nor sour. Will definitely return whenever I'm back in the SoHa area I'm a critic when it comes to places (I average 2 stars on google) so I can't figure out why others have such an issue with this place. Definitely worth a stop in for the family and a meal on the road.
My favorite Chinese in a 100 mile radius. I live in Battle Creek. Combination Rice or Empresses Shrimp is my favorites.
China Buffet
My recent experience at the China Buffet was nothing short of disappointing and concerning on multiple fronts. Upon entering the restaurant, I was met with empty buffet trays and a severely limited selection of food items, none of which looked appetizing or fresh. The quality of the food was subpar, leaving much to be desired in terms of taste and presentation. However, what truly alarmed me was the blatant disregard for sanitation practices observed throughout my visit. As I watched the staff members handle the food and salad bar without wearing gloves, I couldn't help but feel uneasy about the cleanliness of the establishment. The sight of them wiping down the surfaces with what appeared to be dirty rags from the kitchen only compounded my concerns. It was clear that basic hygiene standards were not being met, posing a serious risk to the health and safety of patrons. Overall, my experience at the China Buffet was marred by both the lackluster food quality and the alarming lapses in sanitation. It's deeply concerning to witness such negligence in a restaurant setting, and I would hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone. Management must take immediate action to address these issues and prioritize the health and well-being of their customers. Until significant improvements are made, dining at the China Buffet remains a risk not worth taking.
Called an order in; they didn't start it by the time it was supposed to be read (system didn't print ticket?) Returned home to find the order was missing half of its stuff. To their credit- the chicken portion was generous. Wild stuff for assembly line food.
