Saab Sis Thai
Summary: fantastic food for the price, great cozy environment, very quick service. My new favorite Thai restaurant. Get the Khao Soi. Location and ambiance: Super cozy, exposed brick, short ceilings and lots of natural light from large windows. Cutesy decor. Across the street from a large parking structure so you avoid the curb side sentry mobile parking. Food and drink: delicious “comfort” food. Get the Khao Soi. Hands down, full stop. Best way to describe it is a fusion Asian Indian ramen. Slow stewed half chicken in a masaman curry (coconut milk) based soup with rice noodles and egg noodles, green onion, cilantro, and on the side: red onion, pickle relish, lime and chili oil. The chicken was so tender, you could pull it off the bone with chop sticks 🤤 Other items we had included dumplings, green curry and Thai Tea. All of those were delicious as well. Service: The restaurant definitely busy when we got there, pretty sure we had the last seats available (6:15p). Service was prompt and as expected. Consider getting a reservation. Accessibility: I would not recommend visiting if you have mobility issues, there’s no ramp as far as I could tell. No wheelchair access. It’s in the basement of a church so you have to take steps down into it. Get it take out instead and sit on a nearby bench and enjoy it outside.
Drop by on a hunger whim one Sunday. Had a chicken curry dish which I requested as mild. Unfortunately it was too spicy 🔥🥵 to enjoy initially. But they gave me more coconut milk to ease the intensity. This helped a great deal as I could actually taste the flavor. The downside was I had to mix it myself. I felt the dish was prepared in error at medium level & the should reworked it in the back & re-presented. Nonetheless, the place is small, cute, & serves traditional Thai drinks which are delicious 😋. The service is also friendly. Recommend a stop by if in the area & you're a fan of spicey food.
