Fine food. Fine service. Great value. You get a good portion for a good price. Some dishes tasted older and if they’d been left out for a bit. Some tasted fresher and fine. Their lo mein was surprisingly really good. Cooked perfectly. Overall: 7.9/10

Paid $60.00 on DoorDash and received a couple of small lunch containers. As soon as we took a bite it tasted like it was refrigerated for a week and popped back into a microwave to send to us. Definitely not risking food poisoning. Who would have thought that a restaurant in a failing mall wouldn’t throw out their old food. Wish I knew that it was mall food from the beginning. Very disappointed.

Food was delicious! Service was excellent. One of the best experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. My group ordered the Pho, pad thia, pot stickers, and sweet and sour chicken. Highly recommend

I have now been here 2 times this month because the food is so good! I tried the Hot and Sour Soup last night and it was amazing and delicious! Potstickers are amazing! Staff is always pleasant kind and helpful 😎

Food is perfect! Sesame Chicken is hit or miss at most Asian food places. This was a hit. Chicken and broccoli was spot on! Egg rolls and Crab Rangoons were great. No complaints here. I'm glad I found a new Asian food spot! Thanks Asian Express!

Idk how this place got 4 stars. I only went once. Today. Don't expect I'll be back. I ordered fried rice. Thought I'd play things safe. Got this weird yellow rice with no flavor & equally weird flavorless, chewy meat. This is not the place to get decent take out. It was cheap.

TLDR: good food, great service, not too expensive. The crab Rangoons are AMAZING!! Drinks need a little help, as does atmosphere, but those won’t keep me from leaving a 5 star review! My bf was excited to try this place as it had been years since he had gotten to experience the ✨magic✨ of Joe Chan that he remembered from his youth 🤣. We started with drinks: He ordered a Pink Cadillac (Tequila, Triple sec, Sour mix and Cranberry) and I ordered a vodka soda with a lime. They were so incredibly strong that we both made faces upon first sip 😵🤣. The lime in my drink couldn’t cut the vodka. Good on them for making strong drinks, but we enjoy a well-made cocktail, and we couldn’t stomach these ones. I then ordered the CHOCOLATE martini (Vodka, Baily's & Kahlua) hoping that the sweet nature of it and space it took on the specials menu would make it a better drink… not so much, unfortunately. I ended up ordering a soda water. Our server was super friendly and recognized that I wasn’t enjoying my drinks and took them off the bill without me asking for it or complaining- she just saw I wasn’t drinking them 🤣. The only reason I’m mentioning the quality of the drinks is that I think this place could be so much better with the right training for the bartending staff. We ordered the Crab Rangoons (Crispy wontons filled with a crab meat and cream cheese blend) and they were FANTASTIC- see photo to see how much crab you get inside- not your typical GFS product, at all! They served it with a duck sauce and a house mustard (if you like horseradish, definitely try it, and if not, steer away because holy cow, was it strong!). This appetizer was the highlight of my meal, for sure! We ordered a Wonton soup, which was delicious but holy cow was it A LOT! HUGE portion size, which is always nice. We took some home for later. We also ordered a Chan's Egg Roll (Hand rolled with pork, ham and shrimp and bean sprouts). I don’t eat meat as a pescatarian but he said it tasted as he remembered it- which is super good. 😎 For mains, we ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken (Hand Battered garnished with white onion, green pepper and pineapple, drizzled with house made Sweet & Sour sauce) which was thoroughly enjoyed, and just as he remembered from years ago. I ordered the Pad Thai with Shrimp (Stir fried noodles with bean sprouts, carrots, red pepper, scallions and peanuts). It was good, but I didn’t read the description. It definitely was unlike any Pad Thai I’d ever had before, and had I not known it was named that, I wouldn’t have guessed that it was Pad Thai. Like I said, it was good- quite delicious, actually, but you can see from my pics that it’s not as the name suggests. I’d still order it again, but I’m writing about it to give a heads up! Overall, we really enjoyed the food here, as well as the fun conversation with our very attentive server. Granted, we were one of two tables there at 7 on a Sunday, but we appreciated the service. One thing I’d suggest is that the atmosphere could be greatly improved with some music. You can hear in the video I posted that there is sort of an awkward silence with dishes and silverware clashing in the kitchen, as well as full conversations (not muffled). Other than that, I’d say we really enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be back! UPDATE: We came back and didn’t order drinks 🤣 but we did get the sweet and sour chicken again, as well as the shrimp lo mein and they were both delicious! Thanks for great service again! UPDATE!: we came back and ordered a drink and it was good! The pink Cadillac was tasty this time 😎 wet also got some orders odd the sweet and sour shrimp, sweet and sour chicken, and seafood Szechuan. Everyone enjoyed their meals a lot. I’m also updating my atmosphere score from a 3 to a 4 because although you could still hear everyone in the kitchen, the music was turned up in the dining room so it was better overall.

I’m a huge fan of veggie fried rice & Mongolian beef so I asked our server for her recommendation. She said she likes the veggie fried rice so I took her recommendation & got a large size so I could have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Oh. My. Goodness. I ended up ordering another small order because it’s so stinking delicious that I didn’t want to stop eating it! I did end up hitting the top of my stomach & still had leftovers so portion sizes are good. This is the best veggie fried rice I’ve ever had ♥️ highly recommended!! I will be back to try the Mongolian Beef… if I can get past ordering the veggie fried rice again!!

The absolute best Chinese food I’ve ever had!!! Not even comparable to the others. The vegetables are crisp and taste better than even homemade. When I want REAL food they Exceed my expectations. Prices are great and portions are double what any one person can eat.

Spotless building, with some nice fish just floating there—though I couldn’t help but feel they deserved a little more excitement, maybe a toy or two. The big TV was thankfully on mute, which was a blessing. The waitress? Absolute gem—kind and attentive, making the visit so much better. I’m not usually a Chinese food guy, but this place might just change my mind. 4/5—happy fish, happier me!

The House of China has long been a cherished favorite in Muskegon, renowned for its delicious cuisine and inviting atmosphere. This beloved establishment consistently delivers high-quality food at exceptionally low prices, making it a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike. I wholeheartedly recommend trying their exquisite crab rangoons; they are perfectly crispy on the outside, with a delightful creamy filling that leaves you craving more. Additionally, the chicken fried rice is a must-try, featuring tender pieces of chicken, vibrant vegetables, and perfectly seasoned rice that creates a harmonious blend of flavors with every bite. If you’re a fan of egg rolls, you are in for a treat. The egg rolls at The House of China are truly some of the best in town, boasting a crispy exterior that gives way to a savory filling bursting with fresh ingredients and flavor. Each bite is a delightful experience that complements the other offerings on the menu. The “small” dinners are HUGE! The “large” is equivalent to a family size meal to share. I’ll attach some photos of the “small” dinners we got. The food is super yummy and is always ready within 15-20 minutes. I got the Szechuan Beef and the kids got Sweet and Sour Chicken. The shrimp egg rolls and spring rolls are also delicious. Highly recommend.

I got peppered steak they gave me mostly rice and onions very little meat.

Ordered their pork lo mein, crab rangoon, and orange chicken! Everything was perfect! The lady who took our order on the phone was so sweet and friendly, and yes, they take both card and cash! We got there and you could see them making the food! So you know it's fresh and handmade! The atmosphere was warm and homely! You can really tell they work hard for their business! If you're looking for your new go-to Chinese restaurant, China Express is it!🙏❤️

Food is always delicious, every time me and my girlfriend order from here we’re never disappointed! And it’s always the most affordable and most quickly prepared takeout we have all week! Theyre super friendly and professional and we almost always have leftovers. Couldn’t recommend this place enough! The pot sticker sauce they serve is delicious too!

The food is amazing, especially the Salt and Pepper Shrimp.. BUT something is wrong with the order EVERY TIME! I wanna keep going back but I’m frustrated!

The customer service and speediness of the food was phenomenal! The woman showed me the food before bagging it to ensure my satisfaction. The orange chicken and vegetable lo mein was absolutely delicious. Portions were great, definitely would recommend and return!
