Chao Zhou Restaurant
Food tastes very authentic. It’s probably the best place to go if you’re looking for an inexpensive large serving authentic Chinese food. Other Chinese restaurant has already adjusted their food to accommodate all culture taste buds but this one taste just like back in Asia. This place is more of a carry out. Dine in is possible but just not very vibrant atmosphere. Just note that the soups are not for one person unless you love soup that much. Probably good for 2-3 people cup
I ordered a shrimp chow mein. I don't normally order this. sweet and sour, almond boneless chicken, or beef and broccoli are my go to items at a Chinese restaurant. I felt like trying something different. I also was feeling shrimp. the noodles are overpriced and crispy at the edges, and soft under the sauce. I don't order this enough to know if that's just common for this dish. the sauce is good. not too many onions to slide out. the bok choy isn't bad, but idk the texture of it just not doing it for me. there also wasn't a tea option. maybe I should have just got a beef and broccoli with crab ragoons.
Wokery Chinese food
First time trying this place because I seen a few reviews saying how good they were and how the portion size was a lot and that you actually get what you pay for…I am not too happy because I get way more at other places and I also asked for the gravy to be in another container. Does it look like it is in a different container?? My egg roll was burnt and the rice taste dry. Definitely just a eh type of place, only would go back if I’m in the area.
Order: - Hot and Sour Soup - General Tso's Chicken + Fried Rice The soup was on the lower end of hot and sour soups I've had. If I return to this place, I wouldn't order it again. The General Tso's, however, was excellent. It wasn't groundbreaking, or especially unique, but it was delicious. The quantity bolstered the enjoyment- one could easily get two meals out of it as I did. I rarely order fried rice, but this place served excellent fried rice. The service was excellent. It was quick, efficient, and pleasant. The lady who took my order was very nice, and I had my food within 15 minutes. The atmosphere wasn't anything to write home about, it was a hole-in-the wall carry out restaurant, but it did its job.
Noodle Topia
Home of Robbie da Robot and family deliver food and drinks to your table 😜. A truly unique experience from the future, yes eliminate all the staff the goal of all restaurants. A dozen plus tables of diner's and only one waiter has trained the robots well. I went for Cold Chinese Noodles seen on website Nope don't have that knocked off a star. Here's what we ate directly from online menu. Szechuan Noodle soup $12.99 Spicy. Spicy beef broth, fried ground pork, soybeans, ground garlic, peanuts, preserved szechuan pickle, green veggie, cilantro, green onion, sesame., By-Gee-Mo (Pork Bun) Pork belly meat, baked Chinese bun. Beef Dumpling $10.99 Juicy ground beef, carrots, onion, Griddle Pie, Chinese style crepe, crispy cracker, preserved szechuan pickle, green onion, sweet sauce. Lamb Kebab Lamb kebab (6 sticks), cumin powder, salt. mostly all fat like many reviews say. Over all a total 4 star experience Food was not as good like Lan City my favorite. #noodletopia @noodletopiamh #lambkabob #beefdumplings #szechuannoodles #robotwaiter #handpullednoodles #noodlehouse #downriverfriendseat
Excellent service, you can see the menu by scanning the thingy with your phone at your table. This was my first visit and it won’t be my last! I was very impressed with their wonton soup, served piping hot with a sesame scented broth, cilantro, green onion and SO ManY Wontons!!! I highly recommend trying this place for the soup alone. The storefront is unassuming but indoors it is quite spacious and yet has a nice mellow vibe.
Lao Pot
My brother and I went this past weekend and our waitress Yan was so sweet. To explain how the ordering goes and if we had questions she doesn't hesitate to answer any questions that we had. This is the first time I had a Hot pot that wasn't the self-heating kind. And I loved it. Just remember when you go order your food and batches don't do like my brother and I did and order everything all at once because granite we ate the majority of everything we had but there was still some food and vegetables up on the table. They give you very healthy portions especially of the meat. I tried squid for the first time roasted barbecued rather to chewy for me but my brother loved it and said it was really good. We will likely be back here again the next time we're on that side of town.
Food: 3/5 (Great quality, but okay food!) Service: 5/5 (Wonderful service and great staff!) Atmosphere: 5/5 (Simply beautiful and scenic environment!) I recently had a delightful experience at Loa Pot, tucked away in Madison Heights, Michigan. This restaurant boasts a diverse menu packed with flavorful and okay options, attentive service, and an inviting atmosphere. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by wonderful aromas and noticed the impressive stove tops at each table, allowing guests to cook their pots to perfection. While it leans toward the pricier side, the overall experience certainly justified the cost in most ways. Food: The quality of the food was commendable, though some dishes were just average. Nevertheless, I appreciated the extensive selection and the freshness of each ingredient. The menu itself was a bit overwhelming at first, but our server was incredibly helpful in guiding us through the choices. Speaking of service, it was outstanding! Our server exhibited remarkable patience, ensuring we felt comfortable while selecting our meals. The water glasses never went empty, and the staff was very accommodating throughout our visit. The atmosphere of Loa Pot truly captivated me. The walls were adorned with vibrant decor, adding to the restaurant’s charm, and the entire space was impeccably clean. It was a refreshing blend of beauty and cultural elements. Overall, my experience at Loa Pot was exceptional. It's a fantastic spot for those looking to enjoy a meal in a social setting while savoring fresh food!
TJ's Shanghai Dumplings
Been wanting to check this place out for awhile now and I’m so happy I did! I got the pork dumplings and they were some of the best I’ve ever had! The shrimp chow mein was very flavorful, savory and fresh tasting. The lovely woman and man working there were so friendly. The establishment was very clean. I cannot wait to come back and try more! 10/10. Come check them out!!
I will definitely be coming back and I highly recommend everybody try out TJ’s Shanghai Dumplings. I ordered chicken dumplings, crab rangoons, and green onion pancakes. The food was so flavorful, it was ready within 10 minutes, and the owners were so kind and friendly when I picked up my order. This is some of the best food I have had in a long time!
Zhang B-B-Q
This was our first time at this restaurant. The food was excellent. Our server, Kimmie, was an absolute delight. I ordered the bao buns stuffed with sweet pork. My husband ordered the pork pot stickers. Both were very good. We also had the eggplant hot pot, which was loaded with vegetables as well as my favorite wood ear mushrooms. It was in a light garlic sauce and yummie! We also had stir fry cashew chicken, which also had lots of veggies. Both dishes were a delight and really enough fir 4 to 5 people. My husband ordered hot and sour soup to go, and I'm looking forward to trying it tomorrow. Although it's a 50-minute drive from where we live, the food was well worth the long drive.
Inflation ruined this place. Quality went down, basically everything has no flavor. Is crispy roasted pork still crispy, yes but that's the only thing good about it. Meat is bland, they didn't marinated at all. Luckily for them that there are only two Chinese bbq in metro Detroit otherwise they would close already. Pork is about $12/lb . About the same price 3 years ago. Cash only by the way.
light cantine
Light Cantine is a hidden treasure! We have been a few times now, and it’s been great for both dine in and take out. The staff are so friendly (especially Stephanie and Vivian) and the decor is always adorable! It’s a very cute place. The food is always fresh and really good, and the tea is really good as well. This has quickly become our favorite restaurant in Michigan. Having lived in Texas with near a heavy Chinese population, the food here is as good and could easily compete with the restaurants there. We drive 25 miles to go there, and we look forward to our visits. The malatang (spicy hot pot) is really good—it has a flavorful broth and nice options. The spicy crispy fried chicken is really amazing and craveable, and the sauce for the cucumbers is really tasty. They also have dim sum and other options you do not find at other locations. They have really affordable options or fancier ones. Definitely recommend trying this place out for dinner, tea, or the extensive dessert menu! They recently updated their menu dinner menu, so I’m attaching photos.
I saw vid on IG and it was cute so I tried it out. The food overall was good but the some menu portions could have been better for the price? We got the fried squid and it was $20 for about 10 pieces which was disappointing. But other dishes were generous and it was all delicious. The staff was very kind and the place was clean which was important for some in my party.
Not Just Noodle
We visited this place after a review on Instagram posted by others. So we would like to give it a try. And wow ... they are not wrong. The food is all delicious. We happened to be in the Detroit and Madison Heights area for a visit in late January 2025. We ordered: Mini Soupy Bun (with pork and shrimp filling), Pan Fried Scallion Pancakes, Beef Tripes, Egg Fried Rice, Signature Beef Handmade Pull Noodles, and Seafood Stir Fried Handmade Noodles. And all are delicious!!! We will surely be going back in the future to try other menu items.
Best noodle place ever! The food was delicious and amazing. We shared everything between us two and it was enough where we were nice and full. Definitely recommend this place! Everything was just $32, a good deal. We got the pork rib ramen and the special curry chicken.
Pi's Thai Cuisine
I used to frequent this location often, especially during my pregnancy with my son over 22 years ago. Throughout the years, I’ve witnessed many employees come and go, but one thing that remained the same was the consistently poor attitude of the owner and the older woman who typically works behind the counter. Due to the unpleasant customer service, I made the decision years ago to stop patronizing this establishment. However, today, while in the area, I decided against my better judgment, to give the place another try after nearly a 10-year hiatus. To my surprise, I was greeted by a young gentleman who took my order. I was very clear and specific about what I wanted. After placing my order, the older woman appeared once again. The young man allowed me to dine in but directed me to a specific table, rather than allowing me to choose where I preferred to sit. Once seated, my meal was brought out, hot and freshly prepared, with noodles added to my dish. However, approximately 15 minutes into my meal, the older woman came out and abruptly told me I needed to leave because they needed to “clean up.” I explained that I was not yet finished eating and asked why I wasn’t being allowed to enjoy my meal. She curtly responded, “We have to clean up.” I then began packing up my food, only for her to further disrespect me by requesting an additional fee of $1.00 for the carryout container after I had already paid $25.90 for my meal. Needless to say, I will never patronize this business again, regardless of how good the food may be. A simple lesson in basic customer service and human decency goes a long way. I hope this message serves as a reminder that how you treat people matters. God is always watching.
Νegative reviews are from people who don't know anything about Thai food. This place is predominantly take out, cash only. If you're expecting a sit down dinner, this isn't your spot. It is, however, the best Thai food I have had in the United States, let alone Metro Detroit. This is Thai-style food, the closest I've found in this country to what you'd get in Thailand. If you want American style Thai food that's more expensive and less good, go to one of the many American-style Thai places in Metro Detroit. If you want great food and are willing to adjust your worldview slightly, come get dinner here. You won't be disappointed. I've ordered nearly everything on the menu and never had a bad meal.
Sunrise Thai Restaurant
The food is really delicious....but the portions are mid, I got some beef salad for 15$ in a small container, thaught they'd put rice but they didn't, I thaught it was a hidden gem but I like to eat allot and I'd say for that price especially the portions I'd have to spend 50$ to fill up myself, it's authentic as the food taste really great...however I was really disappointed in the portions as that can get me a medium sized pizza with 2 toppings or even one from across for less than that price, additionally....I've been here twice and I've spent 26-30$ and even that was not enough to fill me up, second time ordering something different I had assumed maybe it'd change my opinion...however it didn't, it just made me reconsider coming here if I'm hungry and looking for a place that's convenient, I wish the restaurant the best as the reviews are really good....but never taking a chance coming here again if I am going to spend that much for beef straps on salad with tomato's, cucumbers, green peppers, not sautéed at all, with chopped onion slices with green salad on a small platter, it just doesn't fill you up, and that price competivly enough could be spent elsewhere.
If you are craving for some authentic Thai food then this is the place! Not only the food was awesome but they helped us select the right food! Guided us on the ingredients as well! Yum food! The Thai curry was fabulous! Fried rice was ok but pad Thai was delicious! Overall worth the visit!
Que Huong Restaurant
Great Vietnamese restaurant with many offerings. Very good taste. Fresh veggies. Refreshing drinks. Clean and friendly environment. Would recommend.
Cute little spot with an extensive menu, and reasonably priced. We liked all of our selections, I recommend the double noodle pho. Also it was busy the entire time, a good sign of an authentic meal. Plenty of parking!
Mabel Gray
We went to Mabel Gray today and had the tasting menu — and wow, everything was incredible. Every single dish was full of flavor, super creative, and just really well done. You can tell the kitchen puts a lot of love and thought into what they’re doing. The staff were amazing too — super friendly, helpful, and on point with the timing. Honestly, we enjoyed every moment. The food, the service, the vibe — everything was just right. Can’t wait to go back again!
Finally got to try this restaurant that’s been on my list for what feels like years, and I was not disappointed—actually mad at myself for not coming sooner. Reservations can be difficult to come by (I recommend trying two weeks out to be safe), so I snagged an early dinner reservation (4 PM) and was seated promptly. This restaurant has their service down to astonishing precision. The menu was very diverse and well-curated, and the server knew everything there was to know. **Note:** The menu changes frequently, so the items pictured may not be available when you visit. Every course was absolutely amazing. Dining at Mabel Gray is an experience everyone should have—ASAP!**
