Asian Gourmet
Despite a slew of negative recent reviews, I decided to give Asian Gourmet a shot. Upon entering it was obvious that this restaurant was an old school, traditional Americanized Chinese restaurant that was setup primarily for takeout. The menu was fairly extensive with fair pricing for today’s world. Some of the staff could use a bit of training in conversation with Americans as the girl taking my order was a bit short, but I think that was more of a cultural difference than her trying to be mean. My food was ready after a relatively short wait and I opted to sit at one of their few tables. I was generally satisfied with my food. The fried rice was good and the orange chicken was decent but could have had a bit better sauce. I really enjoyed my egg roll and found the crab rangoons to be bigger than what most Chinese restaurants have in the area. In the end, I felt like I had a satisfying meal at a fair price. Keep in mind that they do not really have a way to service drinks, so plan ahead if you want something to drink.
Very good Chinese food. Unknowingly ordered food after they closed (Yelp had the wrong hours), and they were so accommodating and friendly. I would 100% recommend for service. As for food, it was just as great! The veggie lo mein and shrimp sweet and sour were great options. I will definitely try again when I’m back in town. Such a great customer service and reasonable prices!
El Catrín Tacos and More
My boyfriend and I were driving by and decided to stop and try this place out and IT WAS THE BEST DECISION. The customer service was 10 out of 10. The food is absolutely delicious. The presentation of the food and the atmosphere is just all around amazing. Highly recommend the taco salad with steak. Don't hesitate to come here. It's absolutely AMAZING!!
The food is really good, the service is top notch. A great fast casual Mexican joint that serves up some fun and unique options along with the traditional fair. The portions were generous. The fried food was a bit too friend for my liking, but I like grilled Mexican food better, so take that with a grain of salt. Chicken dishes were the highlight of the experience. It was a very expensive experience as well.
Maru Sushi & Grill
Great food and wonderful ambiance. It is a bit on the pricy side but high quality sushi. They also have happy hour and some daily deals. My fave roll is the crouching tiger. My husband got the chef’s special roll and he said it was one of the best rolls he has ever had.
Went here for the first time for our anniversary and we had such an incredible experience! We sat at the chefs table, and chefs Ian and Kadeeja were so helpful, so personable, and absolute masters at their craft. I got the chefs special, and I can't speak highly enough about how they took my food allergies and preferences and made the best sushi roll I've had maybe ever. Thank you so much for making our anniversary feel so special!!
Chan's Palace
First time trying this place. Ordered general Tso’s. Two chunks of chicken in my whole meal. Call to get refunded and they want us to make the 30min round trip out there again to get it replaced.
It's one of my favorite places to go get food when I get a good chunk of money. Yeah, the food is expensive, but it's worth it. Each dish has a unique signature taste, which is the best part. Also, great service and speed.
China Garden
Great place to order ahead run in grab your food. I work at the Ford plant on Van Bourn less than 10 minutes away. I order from the plant by the time I get there my food is ready and hot. 5-7 lunches almost once a month.
If there was a zero I'd use it. The worst almond chicken I eaten in my 68 yrs. Dried, tough, and no flavor. The gravy taste burnt and old. The human shrimp smelled so fishy, like fish that's been left out to long. Ruined the whole dish, veggies and the fried rice. The rice also had raunchy after taste. Very disappointed. It was going to be my new go to twice a month.
Joyful House
Joyful House is just great. Always the best food. I skip past three other Chinese places (that I’ve already tested) to go here. The family loves it! The lemon chicken, beef and broccoli, chicken fried rice, pork dumplings, egg rolls, and crab Rangoon are all delicious. I ate most of the dumplings before I remembered to take a picture of them, LOL.
Joyful House is hands down the best Chinese food not only in Saline but in the greater Ann Arbor area. My family gets the same takeout order at least one night a month. Our relatives from out of town always want Joyful House when they come to visit! The food is always pretty expensive per dish but worth it. Every other local Chinese restaurants' dishes are bland and service is poor compared to Joyful House. Once you taste it you'll never want Chinese from anywhere else!
China King
Shrimp fried rice was a bit underdone, so my husband said. The Mongolian beef was hiding under all the vegetables. Very little steak which is why I spent $26.00! Never sgain..it's his favorite meal and he's trying to put on weight, but it wasn't as good as it used to be. Skimping on meat. Sorry I even called.🤨
They poorly packed my food and it fell through the bag onto the ground. They said they will replaced it. All they did was throw it in a new box and laughed about it. I will never dropped any money in that the establishment again.
New China Flavor
NEW OWNERSHIP at New China Flavor on Michigan Avenue on Lansing's Eastside! When I saw a new dim sum menu up on the window, I was so excited I went in and talked to Annie and soon learned that the owners used to run Golden Wok in East Lansing, the one restaurant I've really missed since I returned to the area three years ago. Annie is so welcoming, and the food is EVERYTHING I'd hoped it would be. Eating here felt like returning to a place I used to love. Great place to eat on Lansing's Eastside! *** UPDATE: My family has now eaten there a few times and I still hold the same opinion as that first night. What's more, if you want something made just a little differently than on the menu, they will accommodate!
Our new favorite for Asian cuisine for sure!!! We have tried MANY Chinese restaurants in the Lansing area and this one by far tops them all! When you first walk in it may not look like anything special, however we were pleasantly welcomed with a warm smile from a very friendly woman. She carefully explained the combos to us and the different options you could get. They had more options for sides than most similar restaurants AND included a beverage in the very reasonable price. We asked if it was possible to get our food extra spicy and they happily honored our request, and wanted to make sure they got it just right. The food arrived very quickly and everything tasted extremely fresh and had a great flavor. They didn't skimp on the veggies in mine like some other restaurants do. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything wanted wanted and make sure we were happy with our food. Even the quality of the take out cup surprised me! We will DEFINITELY be returning and ABSOLUTELY recommend everyone try this restaurant!
Colala Express
Really affordable and decent portions. My wife wasn't a fan of the orange chicken. It had plenty of sauce which is good but that's where the good stopped on that dish. The combo came with dumplings, which was her favorite part of the meal. The egg rolls had a lot of seasoning maybe a little too much cardamom. The crab rangoon were mild in flavor which is how I personally prefer them. The shrimp fried rice was probably the best part of the meal - great flavor and generous portion. Side note: the soup I ordered wasn't in the bag when I picked it up. That's not really a huge deal because it was only like a dollar which goes back to that affordability The whole meal is $20 for me and my wife. I wouldn't mind stopping by again but I wouldn't go out of my way.
Fresh food made to your order. A short wait time in the colorful restaurant, with complimentary iced tea and coffee offered. The food comes out hot. My first dish here was the House Special Chop Suey. Bok Choy and cabbage in a nicely flavored broth, with plenty generous sized pieces of sauteed chicken, pork and shrimp. Nothing was over cooked. The meat was tender and juicy, the vegetables had a fresh snap to them. Served with steamed rice for $6.95. The fried dumplings are delicious, as is the Szechuan Chicken. All portions are generously sized. We will try something else from the menu soon.
RICH CHINA
Worse place I've ever eaten, walk in and felt like we were intruding, the waiter was not nice at all. For a sit down restaurant you get a Styrofoam plate, a plastic fork, and a square of napkin. No offer of a glass of ice with your pop. The food was tasteless except the beef and broccoli which was spoiled. I only left a 1 star because nothing less. The guy was in back hollering at a child really loud. No I don't recommend this place. I tried to find something nice about the place to leave a plus but I found none.
Great food and a great price, very reminiscent of the California Chinese food I grew up with in SoCal. Every dish was cooked to perfection and I will definitely be coming back. Try the BBQ Spareribs...all I can say is muah...
