Bonsai Cafe
We had a great lunch here! Great food and great prices. They have such a broad menu it is sure to please everyone. Service was also great. My wife had sushi and I had beef chow fun. And the egg roll was awesome!
EXCELLENT FOOD!!!! Fast service for a massive menu, been here over 50 times tried many things and it’s all exceptional. Kungpow beef 10/10 potstickers 10/10. Love this place
Pinto Thai Evanston
Small business with great service and great value. Food was fresh and quality is high. Will come here as much as I can while in Evanston
Was looking forward to food from here (11/20/24) after reading the reviews. Disappointed. Pad Thai was bland; very little seasoning/spice; almost no sauce (and I requested extra); no crushed peanuts. It almost seemed like the dish was sent out before it was finished. Tom Kha soup was a bit bland too. Ordered takeout and was told it would arrive in 50 minutes but it arrived in 20. A good thing, I guess. But I would've preferred to wait longer for a better tasting meal
Gold Bowl
I’m met a friend who lives nearby at this place and we ordered some of her favorites: the orange shrimp, which is under the house, specialties, and udon noodles. We enjoyed free hot tea and sat in the warm adjoining dining space that has a nice bar with a TV, sushi, and large screen television with sports on it. The dining area is warm, quiet and comfortable. The food came out quickly and was hot and delicious. It is a simple place and they serve in the takeout containers for dine in. But it was just what we were looking for for a lunch. Both entrées came in just over $30, but it was shrimp and a House specialty. They were both delicious and we finished about 2/3 of it, with a full serving to take home for another meal. I will definitely return. It’s easy to find on route 12, there is a bathroom, and it looks like it’s also kid friendly seating.
Went on Saturday with my sister for the 1st time & the next day I took 3 family members & we had an amazing time, we sat and talk for a long time w/o realizing time had flew by while enjoying excellent food. Staff very friendly and very helpful.
China City
First time trying this restaurant and I can’t wait to come back. We got the D5 and D6 combo plates, fries and sweet donuts. Every single item was hot fresh and delicious. Upon arrival at pick up, staff was incredibly welcoming. This restaurant has made its way to the top of my favorite small businesses. Try them out! You won’t be sorry
Our new favorite Chinese restaurant! Great food. In our opinion, they have the best egg rolls in the area. My husband loves the garlic lo mein but it was too spicy for me.
Long Long Noodle
We had an amazing bartender/server, great food & drinks! Everything made fresh! We had beef lo mein, steamed buns, general tso’s chicken, super stuffed crab rangoons, spring roll, beef teriyaki. The house mai tai & strawberry margarita were delicious. Quick service, nice & clean atmosphere; we will be back for sure!
Without a doubt - the best Chinese food I've ever eaten. Blown away. So good in fact, I'm writing this review. I've never reviewed anything - anywhere (Outside of maybe telling a few friends something was good). I got Egg rolls, Beef Teriyaki and some Beef Lo-Mein. I've made it 52 years without feeling I had to say something publicly about how good it was. Truly - worth every nickel. Thank you very much!
Great Wall
The best chicken fried rice! I highly recommend! (There was a lot more chicken than what’s in the picture, I had already started eating it though).
We have been coming here since we moved to the area. Always have had a great experience. Food and service is consistent. The only complaint i've had is on NYE this year. Everything has gone very smoothly in past years, but the line was down the street to pick up your order. We were given a time to pick it up and after waiting in line for close to 90 minutes, we weren't told we needed to let them know we were there for our order to be put together. Then I got home and was missing 2 things from my order. We've never run into this issue any other time we've ordered from them (even on past NYE holidays). Advice for next NYE: Process for food pick ups need to be communicated and once you hit a certain point, stop taking orders.
Lucky House
This place went down hill in a landslide once they switched owners. They took half the menu off. And the prices are now way more than before!! I would say they are extremely consistent with giving you smaller portions again an again.. This place also struggles to speak English when you call them!! So it’s easier just to order online than to try and speak broken English. It’s truly a shame the old owners sold because these new people are horrendous. I would not recommend this place. Also for a delivery that’s ten minutes away from them be prepared for at least an hour wait!
The General Tso chicken was all batter zero stars. Very disappointed 😞. Update: Spoke to Cindy and they will replace my GenTso with something else foc. The staff was nice 5 stars and the Mongolian Beef was good 4 Stars. This is a take out place, therefore there isn't any "Atmosphere" I hope the establishment reimburse me for the General Tso. They are closed now, but I will reach out tomorrow if they don't.
New Century
The food was awesome, but I was left with a slightly bad taste in my mouth. I placed a togo order today at lunchtime. A very friendly lady took my order, which was General Gau Chicken with Pork Fried Rice and a Spring Roll for two. I was kindly offered a comfortable place to sit while my order was prepared. My order came in about ten minutes, and the friendly lady assured me everything was freshly prepared as she handed me the bag. When I got home I found my order was accurately packaged, and indeed, it was freshly prepared and so delicious. The meal was really delightful. After the meal, just for fun, I opened the fortune cookie that came with my order. The paper inside had a message and lucky numbers on one side, like you'd expect, but on the other side was a political advertisement that I really didn't expect. I didn't hate the message, but I didn't think it was appropriate, so I removed a star from my review. I'll still return to try something else on the menu.
This has always been our go to for Chinese takeout. EVERYTHING we ordered was tasteless, greasy and poorly presented. Spring rolls were dripping with grease and only had mushy cabbage inside. Orange chicken had no veggies at all and no sauce; flavorless and tough. Crab rangoons were overcooked, no crab flavor and hardly anything inside the wonton. Prices had also gone up considerably. Will not be giving them another chance.
Fu Soun 2
I'm at aww as to how horrendous their food is unfortunately my favorite food was Chinese until I ate from there now it's ruined. , such a huge disappointment. I threw most of it out! Got distracted by the Uber eats app that gave a 4.5 star should have looked at Google from the beginning. Thank you for the trauma. I even called and they still messed up on the order.. a 5-year-old would have made better food
I have had many great experiences here, but don't try and order directly from the website. It's fine if you go through Doordash or Grubhub, but if you follow the link to their website and menu, it can take upwards of two hours and two phone calls to actually get your food. Even then, it was still missing one of the main dishes of the order, and there was no place to make note of that.
China Express
Nan King Restaurant
Stopped in here for lunch with a friend and walking in was regular looking Chinese Restaurant. You can tell it has been there for awhile just from looking at the decor. We were the only ones in the dining room area so very quiet. We could barely hear any noise from the bar. We ended up ordering Pork Fried Rice, Crab Rangoon and Boneless Spareribs and my buddy ordered a combination plate. The server was very friendly. 10 minutes later food was delivered and did it look and smell good. I will say all of it was very good but the Boneless Spareribs were incredible. The sauce they use is great tasting with some fat on them that adds so much more flavor. The rice was moist but dry like it should be and the Crab Rangoon was very full and good size, tasty. Definitely my solid #2 Chinese Restaurant to eat at. I will be visiting again. I would highly recommend going here if in the area.
Price was similar to other relevant restaurants. I ordered pickup once, the amount of good food given, was great. (Not like competitors, that put 5 ounces of sauce in the bag, plus other miscellaneous cheap items, to weigh it down, making you think, that you have a lot of food in bag, when you walk out). Good food, good cost, in a good area. I’ll be going back more than once.
Friend's Garden
Don't waste your hard earned money here. Not only did the order not come correct and they charged us extra for things we didn't get or didn't even ask for. The food is so bland. The rice is awful. No flavor at all. Might as well just eat white rice. The crab Rangoon filling isn't terrible but the dough is gross and not cooked right and there is like a teaspoon of filling in them. The ribs dry and again not flavorful. General tso's wasn't terrible either. Beef lo mein, also flavorless. We will never go back here. What a waste of money and a huge disappointment. Either don't get Chinese or go out of town. Would be nice if Winchendon had another option for Chinese. My guess if they are even a tad better than Freinds Garden would put them out of business. I am really not sure how anyone enjoys this Chinese food?! I'd rather give a zero rating but guess I have to choose something
Ever since they moved to a separate delivery system my food has arrived wrong, cold and usually late. The delivery company is rude, doesn't care if you're food is wrong and is incredibly non committal about your purchase. They apparently can't read sigg age either for apartment complexes. I guess finding the first unit is beyond the new delivery drivers. Now, I've ordered here for almost 28 years, but this experience was such a sour event I felt the need to leave this. The "manager" I spoke to on the phone was the same customer representative I was already speaking with. Said he'd grab his manager, and then cleared his throat and had a conversation with this next door office mate by saying how he put me "on mute" to "find" a manager. Then presumed to pretend to be a manager on the call; promising to be more careful next time. Never ordering again after that appalling experience. I'll just go to sawa instead and pick it up myself.
