Found this place by chance while searching for a place for quick dinner in the area. Food was surprisingly authentic sichuan and thoroughly enjoyed all dishes we tried. -Chengdu dry chicken with red chilies $21.95 delicious flavor with mild mala numbing spices, but breaded chicken pieces seem overly deep fried. -Stir fried chicken with black bean sauce, green bell pepper and onion $18.95 even onions had full flavor and tasty. Chicken was little salty though. -Beef Chow Fan $18.95 best smokey flavor I've tasted in years -hot and sour soup $4.95 with all the right ingredients it was still flavorless but salty. Place was clean with decent table settings, fast service. Decent size parking available.

Mostly used to get takeout but we have eaten here a few times as it was our go to neighbourhood Chinese place until we had 4 different occasions where they told us the order would be ready and then made us wait for over 30 mins to pick up- at that point we gave up and stopped going especially the last occasion when they seemed to be accusing me of ordering stuff that takes time- well they could just have told me the order would be ready later…!! In terms of food we Particularly enjoyed the Chengdu’s chicken and some of the soup dumplings are good. Would not vouch for some of the baos however That said - please expect unfriendly service esp at the reception/ counter and this is probably more due to them having trouble with the language rather than them misbehaving on purpose. One time while I was picking up - the lady told me it was not here but in a currently defunct building next door that I had to pick up- inspite of showing her the restaurant name etc and then finally she believed me when I used the telephone number on my online order and her phone rang! Also the waits are sometimes crazily long - inspite of whatever the apps tell you- it’s pretty rough that way!!! But food is good

This is the LAST time I’m ever eating here. EVERY time I make a phone order I get told “ready in about 15 minutes” guess what? When you get there is when they start to make your food. Spent almost 35 mins waiting for food. NEVER AGAIN.

Great flavor! I got the Bean Curd and mixed vegetables with fried rice. I could taste the fresh ginger and garlic. Delicious! Very friendly lady at the front desk. And they have tons of lunch platters served all day! I will be back real soon. One of the better Chinese restaurants I've tried around here. My dog really approves of their cooking also! See photo. Check it out . . . you'll like it!

Ordered through Door Dash, 1st time ordering from here everything was well balanced portion size to price. egg rolls a little pricey but better than average. very disappointed with the flavor of the Wonton Soup broth, but the wontons in it tasted very good. the Scallop with Hot Garlic Sauce and the 8 Treasure Chicken 🌶 had great flavor but not that spicy. Fried chicken wing really great flavor and a great crunch! honey Honey Chicken, Coconut chicken we got the extra meat for $2.00 and not disappointed.

Beware this restaurant. This was my first time trying this place out and disappointed. I pointed and ordered the number 34 and my husband ordered A.9. The girl that took our order never handed us the check, so I went up to pay for the food. She said it was $30.81. I proceeded to pay but I thought it was a little more than expected. I looked over the menu because the amount wasn’t adding up. I asked her about the price and she said that the #34 wasn’t on their menu and that there was only one size which was the #313. She then proceeded to print out the check after I paid. I told her that I didn’t order that number and she said sorry they forgot to mark it out on their menu. I asked her why she didn’t tell me about they “ no longer go off of that number” and she said “im sorry, I was just busy”. The plate I was charged was almost $5 more than what I actually ordered. I think they purposely up charge people because they didn’t hand any of the other tables their check. We will not be back.

Worth visiting if you are looking for Taiwanese dim sum. There’s not that many options in the menu, but overall everything was great. Can’t wait to be back to try their other dishes!

The beef rolls and sliced pig ears are really delicious—I recommend giving them a try! However, the service is a bit slow, and the prices are on the higher side.

This place has it all: Great food, great service, and even parking! It’s very hard finding authentic Chinese food in Newton, but this place offers all the classic Chinese dishes. I’ve tried just about all of their appetizers- not a single dish I did not like. Portion sizes are great as well, so you can share with friends and family. Such a cozy environment I highly recommend! Ps. Don’t forget to crack open the fortune cookies😉

Came with a coworker for a going away party. Incredibly friendly staff!! Bartender is funny and drinks are solid. Food was great and fresh tasting. Host Lily sat us right away and was quick to recommend her favorite dishes to try.

Trust me, I didn't expect much when I entered this small establishment. I'm literally slowly making my way around the "Chinese" spots around the area until I've tried them all. I wasn't expecting anything and definitely not expecting any form of "service" as it *is* a Chinese spot. Yet, she spoke to me. She reached out and conversed in a manner that only this culture could really explain. She wanted to know me and why I was even here in this area. One eyebrow up, I explained. Two eyebrows up, almost an hour later, I still explained. All I knew was that she welcomed me and wanted me to feel home. There was nothing else past that. It's just the culture. It's Chinatown outside Chinatown, and Chinatown outside China (and everything else associated with it). They take the time to purchase produce on behalf of their customers at close to cost price. They take the time to welcome people in. I'm one of them - out of place, out of the element - and she gave me almost an hour of her time. She even apologized for the "yellowness" of my order due to the time it sat there while we conversed BUT I simply told her I'd see her again. Her family welcomed me to Massachusetts. And moments later when I dug in to the food I brought home, I knew home was here. They served up some seriously legit Chinese influenced dishes. BEST PART? The posted menu is only a front. How do I know this? She read me and invited me shortly to the private chat group for the daily cuisine specials directed at those wanting to taste home. There is some legit culinary techniques here. I'd voyage more into it but I'll respect the secrecy of it all. Come with respect, explain a genuine intent to partake, and perhaps, you'd be invited to the ball of a lifetime. I know I am for one awaiting and ready for it. These guys *can* seriously cook.

General Gau was excellent, I wish I could say the same for everything else. I don’t know what the hell as in those Rangoons but they were inedible, boneless strips and pork in the rice were “funky”.

Once in a while I have a craving from my childhood and thats' bitter melon and because no one else in my family will eat this, I go to Dumpling House. I have it as a stir fried dish with a protein. It is delicious, slightly different to how I had it growing up (we had it with black bean sauce). But this is just as delicious, not as bitter (slightly sweet) and not garlicky at all. It certainly satisfies my craving. Only negative is that it doesn't come with rice and one has to order that separately. Service is efficient, friendly and timely. I'll continue to come back again!

The lowest of low quality food. I want to see an ingredient list of what they use for the general gaps chicken sauce. It looks like they use glue. I’ve never had sauce that was so goopy and stuck together like this does. Over priced for the quality you get. 50$ got me fake chicken with glue sauce, white rice and crab rangoons

Two years ago, I would’ve given this restaurant a five star because of the food but now the food seems to be on the way down. I got the chicken with broccoli lunch combo platter and it’s not the same as it was years ago. It seems the rice is not as good and the chicken is slimy and snot like, I did however love love the egg roll. That has not seem to change in all the years that I’ve been going to so, hopefully it won’t. That’s what I would recommend the egg roll and the dumplings. The amount that they give you now is also less than what it was. They used to give you a lot for a combo platter. Now it’s not that much at all. And if you got it at lunchtime, they would give you a soup and now they don’t do that anymore either. It changes, so maybe in a year I’ll try it again. It might go back to the way it was.

I’ve been ordering from this place for years now. It used to be the best in Sussex. The food is nowhere close to the standard It used to be. It tastes, old overcooked or undercooked don’t order from here go to Changs garden literally a minute away. The fried rice was so dry and old it was inedible. The chow mein doesnt come with noodles and the consistency is snot-like. Not a good experience as have been the last few times.

Don't let the name foo you - this is one of the best Chinese restaurants around, owned and operated by Bernard Leung. I was there two days ago for a shopping lunch with my wife. Everything is delicately prepared to order - this is not a quick food stop - so the meats are amazingly tender, the veggies are still crispy, and the rice or noodles are steaming warm and fresh in flavor - nothing is reheated and or stale. Their scallion pancakes are legendary for a reason - crisp on the outside, moist and chewy inside and exploding with flavor. I don't often get out to Chestnut Hill, but when I do, Bernard's is my first choice for lunch or dinner.

Bernard's sets the bar when it comes to New England Chinese food! You get what you pay for. They also achieve amazing flavors without MSG. A few of the things that I have had recently. Hot and Sour soup, absolutely delicious! Great flavor with just the right kick. Shrimp with Lobster sauce is delicious! They make it the right way with the perfect balance of black beans and egg. Not a heavy sodium taste and it's not sweet. It's perfect! The Orange Beef is a new favorite dish. The Beef is tender, it has a thin batter with a little crisp. The orange flavors were perfect. Very mild heat. Their Bone-in Ribs are also second to none. Very tender, little gems of crisp edges in a perfec glaze that's not overly sweet. Chicken Wings have the perfect crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside, and delicious aromatics that make them one of the best there is. Pan fried Peking Ravioli's were delicious with a generous amount of meat mixed with the perfect spices. Teriyaki was absolutely delicious and close to double the size of a piece you would order anywhere else. Lastly, my daughter and I got pineapple with the check! I love that! I eat a lot of Chinese food and this has moved to the top of my list!! Edit, we have been a bunch of times now. Everything has been perfect. Best New England Style Chinese Food in New England!!

The General Tso’s chicken is fresh and crispy. The hot and sour soup is delicious. Very happy with my order. The free parking is in the back of the shop and you have to drive around the new condo/apartment building.

I go to Newton temporarily for work twice a week. I got excited when I saw their sign of bubble tea because the last time I had bubble tea was in FL like 12 yrs ago. Its not common to see places selling bubble teas in Jersey from what I know off. So I finanlly was able to have bubble tea again! They hav a few different flavors of bubble tea, and smoothies. My favorite is the passion fruit smoothie! They have median size and small size but the small size is perfect for me and prices are within budget. They accept debit cards with no limit, and have free parking in the back. (u hav to go through the driveway on the left of the dinner, which is right nxt to them). They have tables if u want to eat there. Its always clean when I go in there. Service is fast and employees are nice. To be honest, I havent eaten their chinese food yet, but I got for my bubble tea and smooties!

Had a fantastic experience at the Chun Bo Restaurant. The service was very quick, our food arrived hot and everything was delicious. The sake was out of this world! We also had a couple of hand rolls from the sushi bar. Everything was fresh and delicious. The portions were quite large and we did wind up bringing quite a bit home with us. The appetizers were also spot on. The shrimp toast and sake were the stars of the show. I highly recommend both.

Reminiscent of old-style full service Chinese Restaurants, in a building looking like a pagoda, Chun Bo has the best (BY FAR) traditional Chinese fare, along with incredible sushi and great mixed drinks, in the area. We drive over a half hour just because it's so good! Dine in or take out, there's none better.
