Northern Cafe
It's an almost fully self-service spot, which is great, but may not be what some are looking for. They have a number of great dishes and I love the flavor of their dumpling sauce.
If you're looking for a flavor-packed adventure, look no further than Northern Cafe at UCI! I tried their spicy beef hot pot and sour vegetable noodle soup, and let’s just say: my taste buds went on a rollercoaster ride of excitement. The spicy beef hot pot? It’s like a warm hug with a little bit of sass. Tender beef swimming in a bubbling cauldron of spice— it’ll make you break a sweat in the best way possible. It’s fiery enough to make you feel like you’ve earned that second bowl of rice, but not so hot that you regret it immediately (looking at you, other spicy foods). And then there's the sour vegetable noodle soup. It's like the perfect mix of tang and zest that makes you feel like you've just won a flavor jackpot. The noodles were just the right amount of chewy, and the sourness of the broth had that "I can’t stop slurping" effect. Honestly, it felt like a rejuvenating spa day for my soul, except with more noodles and less cucumber water. All in all, Northern Cafe isn’t just a place to eat — it’s a spicy, sour, and soul-satisfying experience. You’ll leave with a smile on your face and a satisfied stomach... and maybe a slight craving for another round of that spicy beef hot pot.
Toa Yuen Restaurant
Have been coming to this mom and pops restaurant for over 2 decades. Food is authentic and always made fresh to order. Friendly atmosphere and have never had a bad experience with any of their employees. It can be busy during lunch hours for the steam table, but that just speaks volumes about the quality and flavors you can find here.
Toa Yuen, located in the Laurelwood shopping Center off Hillsdale Blvd, offers a buffet lunch daily. Good food, reasonable prices, friendly staff. It’s my go-to place for a good Chinese meal.
Panda Express
Food was delicious, hot, tasty and served extremely fast. The soda was also chilled just right. The cashier was attentive and served with a warm greeting.
The food was good with me but the workers weren’t. I went there recently and I asked for a little bit more chicken cause the worker with dyed blond hair gave me five pieces. Though she didn’t give me any more there was an Indian guy working with glasses who was very kind to give me a bit more. Shout out to him. But the girl with blond hair with glasses just stood there and rolled her eyes. I felt so uncomfortable cause I felt bad a bit bit welp. Definitely will not be going back cause of her and how she made me feel.
Hibachi-San
One of the restaurants inside the Stamp Student Union. Seating in common Stamp dining area. Great poke bowls. Consistently delicious. Michelle is the sweetest! She deserves a raise!
