Chow - Modern Chinese Cuisine (Coming Soon!)

This place is disgusting! I typically go to the Decatur Street location which is excellent, but as they were closed last Tuesday I went to this location. I requested “very light oil” in my food. It came literally floating in a sea of oil! It had a strong bitter taste! See the photos for the oil that leaked out of the food and into the paper bag. I had two bites and had to run to the bathroom with explosive diarrhea!!!! BEWARE!! GO TO THE DECATUR STREET LOCATION!!! THEY CAN COOK!
The best xiao long bao I’ve ever had in my life. This meal made the flight to New Orleans worth it. Zach was amazing! I’m only sad we will only be in town 4 days and even if we go every day it would not be enough.
Dragon King
I’d recommend their $8.5 Lunch Special. Food is beyond the average (among American Chinese restaurants) and the price is fair. Good place for a quick meal. The staff were friendly.
All trash. Food 1.5 over battered Chuck’s of unseasoned chicken Pork wonton is just a fried pot sticker without the sauce that makes you love pot stickers. The eggroll was fried good but also has no real flavor. I had to give this place a try because they are so close to my house but I will definitely not be back. I’d rather deal with the line at Chinese kitchen.they are A million times better

The workers are really nice, the food unfortunately was unedible. The shrimp was not properly fried, the batter was very thick and didn't cook through so it came apart into literal chunks of raw flour. I had to scrape it off in order to eat some of the shrimp, which was coated with the tail still on. I though I would be able to at least eat the fried rice it came with but no luck there either, it was way too greasy. I understand that chinese food can be greasy but I've never had anything like this, and expensive too!
Based on the four Vietnamese appetizers and soup we had delivered, we were quite pleased. Also, most of the menu seemed to cater to every neighborhood American-Chinese palette – that one can get anywhere else – for the quick Asian-inspired comfort food that we also crave from time to time. We would definitely go back for the Vietnamese fare.
Green Tea Restaurant
I love this place. Better than all the big guys who claim to have great Asian food. Unpretentious, great service, good prices and best of all, really good food. Check them out. You won’t be disappointed
Absolutely amazing. My boyfriend and I come here for our date nights and get the same dishes every time. We go for the crab rangoons, chicken and beef lomain, and sweet and sour chicken. Every meal I have here is served hot and delicious. Plus the people who work here are so beyond helpful and kind.
Blue Giant Chinese
Genuinely the best Chinese food I've had in a long time. We got a little bit of everything. I was shocked at how incredibly well done the veggie options were. The eggplant & catfish were the stars of the show in my opinion. Delicious and creative drinks. Service was immaculate and everything arrived quickly. I have not a single complaint. Haven't stopped thinking about dinner since last night and I'm already planning on coming back tonight for take 2.
Truly an amazing experience start to finish! Love my Chinese food I’m St. Louis, MO but this place kept my jaw on the floor. Huge portions, phenomenal spicy and flavor, along with expertly made drinks that are strong but do not make you choke on the hard liquor taste. Adding this place to my repeat restaurants when i do my biannual Nola trip with friends and family. Also right next to Fat Boy Pantry which has amazing homemade ice cream with super unique flavors to top off the meal!
Chinese Kitchen
The lady at the counter had a very nasty attitude like she hate her life. The nastiest food I ever taste in my life. I got shrimp in lobster sauce. It was slimy and had no flavor. Had like only 8 shrimp in it. Then the Cho Cho’s had only 1 shrimp in each one !! A waste of my money !!!!! A rip off. I haven’t had them in years. They not worth the hype should have went to China doll this is sooo gross
If I could rate the service a negative number, I would!! I am highly aggravated with the service that I received at Chinese Kitchen today. I have never been so poorly treated at a restaurant in all my adult life as I had been treated today. I only ordered a small Shrimp Fried Rice. Simple order, you would think so, right? After ordering I went into the waiting area for my order and it was practically empty, maybe a couple of people. As I was waiting, the room quickly became crowded. I had order #235, they started calling order numbers before mine and after mine. I inquired to the female calling the numbers and handing out the food. She didn't say anything, all she did was pointed at the number on the wall that shows what number was being served. She called that number several times. And also called number 237, 240 etc....and other numbers and these orders were more complicated orders and some orders included shrimp fried rice. The man directly behind me ordered shrimp fried rice and I think an egg roll. He was sitting down eating his food while I was still waiting and I kept on, kept on asking why are you skipping over my number? I was never ever given an explanation. I was asked what number that I have but still no explanation was given as to why I was still waiting. So the next step is for me to speak to the manager which I was told that he wasn't there. So I will be going back, to personally complain about my treatment. I expect an explanation and compensation for my miserable service today.
Five Happiness Chinese Restaurant
I ordered the General chicken and pork fried rice, and both entrees were delicious! They come pipping hot, and it literally took 8 minutes, and it was done! The chicken wasn't too breaded or too naked. Also, the grease the egg roll was fried in didn't taste old as some places do. The leftovers were just as good late at night when I had some! As of now, this is my go-to as far as chinese is concerned!
Absolutely the best Chinese food i have found in New Orleans. I can't recommend Five Happiness highly enough. From dim sum appetizers to the magnificent Peking Duck, expect authentic tastes of China. The staff are so helpful and friendly. Truly a don't miss foodie spot.
China doll
Food so good, my go to when I'm in town.
Ming Garden
We order here pretty often, so it’s obviously not bad at all. My spouse is always happy with the broccoli chicken. I love the Thai curry shrimp, always delicious. Half the time the Szechuan tofu is great, perfectly crispy tofu in a lightly spicy thick sauce with good veggies. The other half of the time the tofu comes pretty soft/soggy. I also wish it were spicier, I’ve tried ordering it extra spicy but ultimately just add chili oil at home. My kids don’t recommend the boneless ribs, my spouse said they were ok but don’t reheat well. The spring rolls are exactly what you’d expect, I’d love a couple more veg appetizers but I know that’s asking a lot. Ultimately it’s a very respectable takeout choice.
The vegetables are colorful and fresh, as is everything else. Spring rolls appear to be homemade, the hot 'n' sour soup is rich in flavor and silky smooth. Our favorites are Kung Pao Chicken and Szechuan Chicken. The last time we ordered a pork dish (June 2024), they skimped on the protein, which was little slivers of dry pork. Regardless, Ming Garden remains our go-to American Chinese takeout restaurant near the Bywater.

Was in the area and craving some Cantonese food. Siu Long Bao was great. Authentic and soupy. Would improve further with some ginger and vinegar. The pot of tea was the Asian style strong tea. I really liked it. Attentive service. Highly recommended.
This place was absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered was fantastic. The soup dumplings phenomenal. Do yourself a favor and go!
Manchu Kitchen
I always go to Manchu because the chicken is always hot, fresh, and delicious. You get a lot of food for a great price, and they’re super fast! The portions are huge, and the staff is always friendly. Definitely my go-to spot for tasty, affordable chicken.
Being from Houston, TX when you order shrimp fried rice, that's what you get. I did not open the rice until I arrived back at my sister's house. MY MISTAKE! To my surprise, I did not know what the small orange stuff was on top of the rice! I thought it was carrots at first. As I looked further, it appears they put dehydrated shrimp on top of the rice. Who does this at their price? The fried chicken was good. It was hot, crispy, seasoned well and not salty. I spent a total of $158.00 for 150 chicken wings and a large shrimp fried rice! I started to bring the rice back!! Come on Manchu, yall can do better with the shrimp fried rice!!
