Tsing Tao Mandarin Chinese
Tsing Tao in Wilmette is a great spot for a satisfying meal, and it’s nice to be back after our previous visits. We ordered the Family Special and some Lo Mein, and everything was really tasty. The Mongolian beef was a standout—full of flavor—and the Bu Bu platter was a hit, too. The portions were generous, leaving us with plenty for takeout. One of the best things about Tsing Tao is that the food feels healthier and less greasy compared to other local Chinese places, without sacrificing any flavor. The service was quick and friendly, making the experience even better. For the quality and quantity of food, Tsing Tao offers fantastic value. Plus, it’s nice to leave feeling good, full, and not overly thirsty. We’ll definitely keep coming back!
I have run past this restaurant hundreds of times and walk past daily on my way home from work, but had never tried this delightful, old school Chinese restaurant. That all changed on Xmas Eve, when, as a family we dined. This isn't a new place and the food isn't cutting edge, but everything is what you expect and, truly, delicious. The foods described as spicy had a nice bite to them and the lo mein was so traditional (to my taste buds) as to be comfort food. Recommended. We will go back.
Lola Adang's Kusina
My coworker and I got to check out Lola Adang’s Kusina. So, let me get into it! The food was very good. When we see that LAK was a small family owned business we did figure that the food was going to be good. The quality was spot on and the portion sizing was amazing. I really like the teriyaki chicken the faller was out of this world! The service was good too. Everyone was very friendly to my friend and I. The atmosphere was okay. I wish there was some kind of music playing since it was sorry silent. Overall, I would say if you want amazing food for the price Lola Adang’s Kusina is the place to Check Out!
Well they just opened after St Patrick's month and I made this as a bucket list since being Filipino myself and only know 2 restaurants up here in Lake county area. So far the other food is good and authentic. The pork on a stick was just the way my dad and mom makes them in picnic or outdoor parties. The menudo was also good or ok. They missed a few ingredients to the menudo but one ingredient liver is ok but did not add to really make it authentic and raisins was not ok to add which I am glad they didn't do it but supposed to. The chicken curry dish Filipino style was also delicious. The lumpia Shanghai or Filipino egg roll was good too as they gave a 2 long sized generous amount then most family own Filipino restaurants. My friend not Filipino ordered the fried milk fish or bangus (pronounced bang-oos) which she liked. I usually eat bangus for breakfast. It is giving cafeteria style on paper plates for lunch and was a busy place during lunch because of the US Great lakes Navy base and the US Marines base here so military people and some Local Pinoy where in line too. My big disappointment why 4 out of 5 stars was how they cooked Pancit Palabok. They cooked Pancit Behon which is my least favorite Filipino noodle dish and they used Behon noodles in Palabok. Those noodles texture wise is rubbery which belongs in Behon and not in Palabok. Palabok noodles are transparent, little thicker and slippery in texture. They also forgot to add Shrimp in the Pancit which was also disappointing. Also they only sell it as a party tray and could not cook this daily which I am glad they didn't because it was somewhat not ok. I can't say th pancit palabok was bad because the other ingredients tasted correct to use accept no shrimp and wrong noodles they used. The party tray was $40 and was more than enough for 2 people. Otherwise avoid ordering Pancit Palabok from here. Everything else was genuine. The leche flan or Filipino version of flan or custard was ok. They missed a few ingredients too using coconut gel in the bottom. I would come back for some of the other dishes they serve for lunch time. Best to come there 10 minutes early before they open because it gets busy. Also you can dine in the restaurant unlike their rival Filipino restaurant Pampanga Express.
Froggy's French Café
We went for a team dinner, the parking can be a bit difficult and they have valet BUT if you go around the corner there's a free parking lot. The decor inside was super cozy and welcoming. The staff was very kind and the food and wine was incredible! I'm not sure about the prices but I am guessing it will be on average a $100+ dinner for 2 with drinks. I had the medallions beef dinner item. My colleague who is a vegetarian said her pasta dish with veggies was delicious too!
This restaurant holds a special place in my family's heart - it's been our top choice for elegant dinners and celebrations for as long as I can remember. Most recently, I treated my mom to a Mother's Day meal there, and it was a truly delightful experience. The service is exceptional, and the cuisine is undeniably gourmet.
House of Chan
I went to this restaurant for the first time this week. It's located on Green Bay Road in downtown Wilmette. I have passed it numerous times, only because it's almost hidden among the storefronts in the area. What a find! As there are only two tables in the place, it appears that most of their business is carryout. The dining area is right out of the 1960's, but the kitchen and food prep area are spotless. It's run by a friendly couple and the food was well prepared and delicious! As good as any Cantonese restaurant that I've been to. Try it, you won't be disappointed!! 👍
An absolute gem! So unexpected. All from scratch, fresh, delicious and economical. Owners are lovely and kind. There aren’t enough places like this anymore. Keep it going Chan!
