Asian Express - Shorewood
Small restaurants with only two tables, good food, no frills. I asked for chow fun which was not on the menu and they accommodated. The noodles were soft and well-seasoned, and the crispy chicken was actually crispy. Portions were good. Pleasantly surprised and satisfied.
First time trying them last night and definitely will be back! Beef fried rice was perfect, perfect amount of soy sauce and had the fried/semi grill taste we love! Mongolian combo was delicious and also had that fresh right off the grill taste. Our favorite entree was the chili pepper popcorn chicken!! In my opinion was a mild spicy with some sweet...I would compare it to the sweet and sour chicken or orange chicken based on flavor but wayyyyy BETTER due to the spice component on this dish. AGAIN this was not too spicy more like a ground pepper spice compared to other dishes that are like ghost pepper spicy. Owner was very sweet and helpful upon picking up our order and giving recommendations. Atmosphere was quaint like a mom and pop restaurant. My family likes best to eat at home so reviewing the inside of the place isn't my thing.
OMG Pho
Atmosphere is light and cute and fun. Food is delicious! Service was a bit off... as our appetizer came out at the exact time as my husband's food, but mine came over 5 minutes later. Still, the Tom yum was WELL worth the wait! Great flavors, and we'll be back soon.
This was our second visit to OMG Pho, and it was just as fantastic as the first! Upon entering, you’re encouraged to seat yourself, which we loved, especially since we snagged a cozy window spot to enjoy the beautiful fall views. We started with the spring rolls and peanut sauce, which came out so quickly I didn’t even get a chance to snap a picture—they were that irresistible! For drinks, we tried an Old Fashioned and a Moscow Mule from their well-rounded cocktail menu, perfect if you’re in the mood for something stronger to go with your meal. For the main course, we ordered the Three Chili Chicken and the Sliced Beef & Meatball Pho, both of which were just as flavorful as we remembered. The portions are very generous, so be prepared for leftovers if you can’t finish everything in one sitting. Kenny has been our server both times, and he’s excellent—super attentive and always checking in to ensure we were enjoying our meal. He kept our drinks topped off and made the experience even more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back again and hope Kenny will be there to greet us!
Cho Sushi
My wife and I reserved a large group of about 14 here, to include 3 toddler boys. The service was remarkable, their kindness and assistance with everything was absolutely incredible and the food came out fast, and very good. The house hot sake was also very enjoyable. My wife said their sushi was pretty good and everyone had nothing but great things to say about all their meals. This place is fantastic and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for well priced great food.
You cannot go wrong with Cho Sushi! It's always a fun time when dining in and delicious sushi and food whether you dine in or pick up. They are welcoming, kind, and always do their best to keep service top notch.
Smile of Siam Thai Restaurant
I was really looking forward to this place, and it satisfied a need, but I was underwhelmed. The online ordering is super great, so there's that. I had the spring roll and Thai iced tea same day and some entrees the next day. Skip the summer roll. While I normally love the soft crepes, there wasn't much to these. It's just tofu, cucumber, and iceberg lettuce, and with paltry filling, the rolls fall apart easily. The mussaman curry is the winner for me. It has great peanut flavor, a generous serving of meat and vegetables, and a good spice level. As for the pad see ew and pas woonsen, it's basically the same seasoning with different components. The pad see ew is loaded with Western broccoli, a strong flavor the next day, and the pad woonsen has a lot of onion and canned mushrooms. Both were covered in black pepper. Overall, it's a fine option in the area, but not someplace I'll go out of my way to try again.
I have been wanting to try a new Thai restaurant, and Smile of Siam was a good choice. We ordered a combo Platter for appetizers, and every one of the appetizers was outstanding. My favorite appetizer is the fried tofu. For the main course, we ordered 4 different Pad Thai , the duck, garlic, shrimp, and chicken tofu. The super duck dish I was looking forward to eating, but to be honest, I didn't like it much. It had a strong smell that made me set the dish aside. My absolute favorite is spicy chicken and tofu!! I wanna go back today and order the same one🤭. Prices are reasonable. The service part was okay. We are planning to order takeout instead of dining in from now on since something inside or the smell inside worsened my son's asthma, and he didn't stop coughing the whole time we were there. Or maybe the plants inside triggered his allergies.
El Mercado 5 Hermanos
Had a steak Burrito! My partner had a steak torta! Both were amazing! They were made fresh and the horchata was delicious. I also enjoyed shopping the variety of different items. Got some lemongrass tea, cloves and different flavor of gelatine! Friendly people at this location!
The food was phenomenal and the prices were not too bad. I like that this store is very authentic.
Crave Cafe
I've been wanting to go here for a while and I was not disappointed! I opted to try their katsu burger because it was such an interesting concept to me and it was so good! The katsu was crispy and the katsu and mayo combo was all that was needed for the sandwhich. It's also a huge burger! Their regular fries are the equivalent of McDonald's fries (best fries in my opinion) but less oily and salty. Which was perfectly fine for me. I also had an apple soda which was light and refreshing! Definitely will be back to try their standard burger and especially their shift shell crab burger!!
This is the BEST cheeseburger! I had the classic but there are variations that looked equally delicious. It was a hefty portion and a side of crispy fries made it worthy of a drive-in carhop legacy. (It smelled so good I almost forgot to take a photo....) Not much in the way of ambiance, clearly a mostly take out place but we ate in at one of the three small tables wedged I'm between the doors and the counter. It actually seemed appropriate for the experience. Service is fine. They are stretched a bit thin during busy times but it wasn't a long wait. Loved it!
Enlai 59 Chinese Restaurant
This place should be closed down. All of our food was inedible and smelled rotten. The egg roll was soggy and had a gritty taste and smelled really bad. Even the plain lo mein had a really strong odor and wasn't edible. My husband got Mongolian beef and it had no flavor, the meat was chewy and it also smelled really bad. We aren't even sure that was Mongolian beef, it was just gross meat in gravy. The sweet and sour chicken was by far the worst. We were basically served huge clumps of (heavily breaded) dry chicken that were stuck together. The moment I smelled it, I knew it was rotten chicken. The crab Rangoon was probably the best tasting thing, but ironically had nothing in them. My husband and I are pretty sure we are going to get sick from the few bites we did try to eat before tossing it. This was $50 that went into the trash 🤢.
The owner is very nice and goes above and beyond for her customers. The food is fresh, hot and delicious. The portion size is quite large. My friend is a vegetarian and also has celiac and the owner made a dish to work with her dietary restrictions. I highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be back!
EZ Wok
First and foremost, I'm not sure why there are so many haters. This restaurant actually had decent food. They have quite a selection. Food wasn't greasy. It tasted pretty good once we picked up and brought it home. Place was clean. No dust anywhere.
I walked in to order. Atmosphere was fine for a take-out. I ordered 2 entree's. Salt and pepper shrimp and fried shrimp. The fried shrimp were so thickly battered it was more batter than shrimp. I opened the salt and pepper shrimp which is typically so lightly battered that it looks like there's no batter with lettuce and peppers and spices. My shrimp were over battered as bad as the fried shrimp and also over cooked. Plus there was hardly any of the lettuce and peppers. Very dry. Also, they only have 1 fortune cookie. Picture on left is what salt and pepper shrimp typically look like. Picture on right was what I got from them. Ez wok in my opinion is Ex wok
No. 1 Chinese Restaurant in Shorewood, WI
Been going here for over 20 years. Can't write a bad thing about them. Weather I walk in to take out or get delivery. Every time the food is great. I love the orange chicken and steamed dumplings. As a kid I used to walk down the road just to get the crab Rangoon as a snack. Lately I've been getting the pork egg foo young! So good!! Hope this place lasts another 20 years. Family tradition to order from here every Christmas.
Beef and Mushrooms was edible. Id even say decent. Garlic chicken nearly caused me to vomit. Threw it away. Like most things here was flavorless other than the broccoli smelling and tasting like raw fish skin for some reason. It was rancid. Their chicken and broccoli is also just that. Boiled chicken and boiled broccoli. No flavor at all. I forgot how bad the food was here and ordered again. Beef and mushrooms and eggrolls are the only thing I'd eat from here.
