Mandarin House
Hands down, one of the BEST lunch specials in / around western suburbs. You get choice of soup , (small) egg roll and entree. Portions were huge! My friend and I got the combo fried rice (nice jumbo pieces of shrimp) and the orange chicken. It was $15 per person including tip and tax The food tasted very fresh. Willl be back for sure.
Mandarin House; absolutely a hidden gem š located across the street from Butterfield Plaza (indefinitely overshadowed by "Hooters" location-wise, what a shame) in a vast complex, this one-of-a-kind Oriental eatery has gained a new loyal customer as of today. I will keep this review concise, as the photos speak volumes; but I must highlight a few points. First and foremost, I must mention the incredible service. Our attendant was extremely attentive, which can feel quite rare at most walk-in eateries nowadays. Other highlights include: all items ordered arrived in a timely manner (and accurate to description), taste exceeded the mark, everything was meticulously clean, 10/10 kid-friendliness rating (lots of open space for navigating across the restaurant with larger parties or young ones in addition to multiple styles of seating arrangement shown in attached video), restrooms just lovely (photo included shows changing table, accessibility signage, etc.). The optimization of floor space was quite impressive. Ornate decor tastefully situated about, with calming, low-volume music set the tone for a relaxing dining experience. The meal itself was truly delicious. Thank you, Mandarin House, for one of the best local dining experiences I've had as of late. See you soon.
ANJIR UZBEK HALAL CUISINE
First time going to an Uzbek restaurant the atmosphere was very welcoming! The menu had clear pictures and ingredients list underneath the food looks like the pictures once served. It tasted great. With it being my first time eating Ube and food, I asked the waitress a few questions on what is the most traditional and specialized also, what her favorites were and she was a very helpful and attentive. THE BREAD IS AMAZING!!!!!
I recently had lunch at this amazing Uzbek restaurant, and I have to say it's the best food I've ever had in the area. The dishes are incredibly authentic and served with such care. The flavors were outstanding, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. A special mention to their cake medovik ā itās absolutely delicious! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to experience genuine Uzbek cuisine.
Bowl O Biryani
From the outside, the entrance was quite uninviting, and I wasn't sure if the place was even open. Once inside, I found the restaurant to be very large, but the atmosphere was a bit daunting. The host desk was situated all the way at the back, and there were no clear signs indicating what we were supposed to do. Despite the initial confusion, the staff was friendly and helpful once we found them. However, we did sit at our table for about 10 minutes before anyone came to speak to us. On a positive note, the food was excellent. The portions were generous, and the flavors were spot-on. We split a biryani, and even with sharing, we had leftovers to take home. Overall, while the experience started off shaky, the quality of the food made up for it.
Food was absolutely delicious. They can adjust the spice level to your liking when you order but they have plenty of options, all the traditional dishes and it is all very delicious. You will not go wrong with anything you order. Keep in mind though that for someone who eats spicy food, level 3 was a bit much so we had to get some mango shake. It is an enormous space so I am sure it gets booked for a lot of parties and celebrations. For some reason the bar was closed but we saw some servers still making drinks, except our server. We still had a great experience and this is a fenomenal Indian food restaurant.
Pho Noodle Station & Bubble Tea
I recently visited this restaurant and tried their pho with vegetarian broth, vegetables, tofu, and crab. The dish was well-balanced in terms of the amount of ingredients; however, I found the flavor to be somewhat lacking in spice. It could have used a bit more kick to elevate the taste. On the positive side, the green tea served at the beginning of the meal was delightful and refreshing. As for the atmosphere, it was generally acceptable, and the cleanliness of the dining area met my expectations. Unfortunately, the restrooms had a noticeable unpleasant odor, which was a drawback to the overall experience. Despite this, the staff was very friendly and provided good service, which added a nice touch to the visit. With a bit of improvement in flavor and restroom maintenance, this place has the potential to be a great spot.
So happy came upon this place while visiting a store nearby and it was after lunchtime already so decided to go in. Wasnāt too sure about Vietnamese food or Pho but love Ramen so thought would give this a chance. This was the tastiest food ever - a real hidden gem if you have never tried it - give it a try. I will definitely be back to try the Pho. This time we decided to try the bun noodle salads - shrimp with fried egg roll and the pork with fried egg roll. The sauce and ingredients were all so fresh and the shrimp and egg rolls were so nice and crispy. For drinks we had the lime/honey/mint - so good and also the Thai milk tea. Both were so good. We were there kind of late for lunch so no wait and a few customers but some take-outs were going on too. Not sure if this is individual franchise or what but the food is fresh and tasty.
Gong Ho Restaurant
Great flavor and menu. Phenomenal appetizers. Does not have a big starch fry selection. Made the mistake of ordering something not on the menu the first time, but was blown away by the appetizers and made a second visit. I forgot to tip on Christmas and will need to make at least a third!
The only thing that was good was the egg rolls. Egg foo young was kinda blackish and stinky and no flavor, the kung pao chicken had a weird flavor maybe like stale oil not sure, the beef had kinda spoiled flavor. Veggies were not crisp fresh but soft like over cooked. Service was super fast delivery. And they added extra packets soy sauce and fortune cookies. Havenāt found a good Chinese or Thai in the Woodridge area but if you do, message me.
Wasabi Restaurant & Bar
I was looking for somewhere to eat late on a Sunday with my husband and we ended up at Wasabi and loved it! The restaurant looks plain on the outside but the inside is really cute. The service was great and the food was delicious. I got a vegan bento box and there was so much food I had to bring some home. My husband loved his steak hibachi. The worst thing is that Iām from out of town and wonāt get to come back soon! Bonus points for delicious vegan options!
This place is absolutely the best sushi in the area! This was our second time here and after discovering it the first time we had to come back. Drinks are excellent as well! Place is always busy so I just recommend planning for that. Mike was our server last time and was amazing! The owner has been working every time weāve come and always makes sure you have a great time. Canāt say enough good about everything here. Food is top notch & absolutely delicious!! Canāt wait to come again next time I visit Chicago.
Z J China
A humble but excellent local Chinese joint. You don't go here for the decor or the atmosphere. You go here for authentic flavors and a generous portion at a reasonable price. On those elements, this place absolutely delivers. Their lunch portion is approximately $10 and includes a huge portion of fried rice and an egg roll with whatever you ordered. Try the szechuan string bean chicken- it's excellent.
Delicious food and very generous portions! I got the chicken teriyaki with fried rice and the portion was enough for me to have three good meals. The woman working at the counter was also very kind. Will absolutely be back! Thank you!
Lao Sze Chuan
Ordered Pan Fried noodles like showed on UBER eats. Received a container of DRYfried thin rice noodles with a container of brothy vegetables and 3 small shrimp. What??? I called uber eats and they wonāt refund me and called the store to ask what this was and the āāmanagerāā was OVERLY RUDE!! He said stop calling here itās not my problem the picture you saw didnāt match what you received. BUT I went to their business website and they have the same picture Uber eats has. THIS IS NOT WHAT I ORDERED!!! Will never even bother bringing my family here for dinner. Disgusted
I order from this restaurant all the time as they have very good food! Today the customer service was exceptional!! I donāt normally order my food with eggs and in my rushing I forgot to make note of it when placing my order. The staff went above and beyond my expectations and gave me an order on the house to suit my preferences in spite of it being āmy faultā This is a perfect example of excellent customer service! Wishing them many more years of success to service our community- we need more people like this.
Hong Kong Chop Suey Downers Grove
This was the last time I ordered in this place! Ordered two lunch specials that cost $8.99, They asked me what would you like for side fried rise or steam rise,I asked can I get lo main, sure no problem and they charged me additional 10$ for changing to lo main, and they never stated itās going to be extra charge. Second even more important Chicken tastes weird,I had a feeling I eat fish. I used many Chinese restaurants but this is not a good one!
THE BEST CHINESE FOOD EVER WITH NO MSG. MY GO TO CHINESE RESTAURANT FOR 4 YEARS. YOU WONāT BE DISAPPOINTED š„¢š„¢š„¢š„¢š„¢š
Panda Express
I used to like Panda Express before things have changed this last few years. Maybe the new management? Or They didnāt train their staff well? But this happened so often now. We always order family meal. We used to get home and the portion of all boxes are packed full. Now, every time we get home, the food portion loses 1 to 1.5 inches in height because they loosely pack the food. You can see the pictures. We didnāt eat any yet. This is not the Panda Express we used to know for years before Covid. They already increased price significantly over time and yet try to cut down portion. Make no sense. If you gonna reduce portion, then donāt change the price. Last time also, I ordered a plate through drive through. Got home to find out missing one entree. Waste money on that. Later I came to order another meal, told the manager, they couldnāt do anything about it. Poor service!
Absolutely ridiculous! I ordered the broccoli beef for take out and they put a load of broccoli and 3 pieces of meat. Not cool.
Royal Buffet
The worst Chinese Buffet I have ever experienced, and at $20/person I can't believe it. I am not picky, I've never had a Chinese buffet I wouldn't return to, this one is it. The food was all obviously out since lunch (we were there from 4:30-5:15) and cold, hard, and disgusting. The cheese wontons, prepackaged desserts, and ice cream were the only edible things in the whole place. I didn't feel confident enough to try the sushi after I tried the rest of the food, and their warning sign above the sushi saying you can get sick from raw foods. Yeah. Only if they are improperly handled, so I guess that's what the warning is. The women's bathroom also smelled absolutely horrific. I worked plumbing for about a decade, this was a top 5 worst smells ever. I don't know how bad their sewage leak is, but it is smelling like it is leaking and has been for a WHILE. My stomach is made of iron, but this bathroom made me gag. The seats were also completely falling apart, I fell right into the first bench I sat on, one half was completely broken, all of them had the standard rips and tears, but the completely broken booth was a new one for me. I'm sorry that this review is so harsh, but it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had and I love shitty Chinese buffets.
This place is not even a shadow of what it used to be years ago. It used to have great food, freshly made and it was always hot, if it was suppose to be hot, cold if it's suppose to be cold. Not anymore, some of the food is either luke warm, or cold when it suppose to be piping hot. Also not as fresh as it used to be, some of the food items were tough. The best part is the section where you pick your own vegetables, raw food and they cook it for you, while you watch. Even the plates by the buffet were not properly cleaned. I brought all of the issues that I encountered to the attention of the management. I hope that they turn this place around and fast before is too late. The whole experience was very disappointing, to say the least.
Wong's Knights Chop Suey
Found two separate hairs in two separate dishes and when we called to simply ask for a new dish or a refund they then attempted to call us liars and treat us as such. We've been on the phone with them for over 10 minutes now just to return the food and get our money back and they are still arguing with us. This place is disgusting.
Our order was wrong. The food was cold. The american chopsuey was congealed. This was not the first time this has happened, but we wanted to give them another chance. When we called to complain we were told to bring it back. They should have had someone deliver another order. When we told them they were probably going to lose a very good customer they couldn't have cared less. We miss the previous owners, Wong Knight's. Next time we'll just stick to Dan's Pizza next door.
