Golden Star Asian Cuisine
Ordered the Chicken Mei Fun lunch special and was overwhelmed by such a large portion! The food was great, pick-up service was fast and pleasant. Will be back soon!
This was my review four years ago: Great tasty food. The service is very good too (5 stars). At the time, there was a window for customers to see the activities in the kitchen, which made me feel good. Now: I am very disappointed; I have to change my review (to 1 star). Sadly, the food quality has come down; it is not as tasty. AND there new owner decided to cover the window (so customers are not able to see into the kitchen) which makes me suspicious. Obviously, the new owner doesn't want customers to see the the activities in the kitchen area. I wonder why!
Galaxy Hot Pot and Sushi
I don’t usually leave reviews, but this experience deserves some feedback. It was my first time at this restaurant, and while the staff was polite, the service was clearly impacted by how busy and understaffed they were. We waited an hour and a half for sushi, and other tables nearby experienced similar delays. I ordered the Szechuan Broth, which I’ve enjoyed at other hot pot restaurants, but this version was disappointing. The amount of Sichuan peppercorns was overwhelming, making the broth overly numbing and inedible. It wasn’t a matter of spice tolerance—it was simply excessive. My friend’s Mushroom Broth was fine, but the Szechuan Broth left me feeling sick and later throwing up that night. The sauce and veggie bar was compact but adequate. While the waitress was courteous and did her best under the circumstances, the overall experience was disappointing. I would recommend avoiding the Szechuan Broth and hope the restaurant makes adjustments. I would suggest visiting when the restaurant is less busy to see if it improves.
Cheap restaurant, low quality food, and bad service. Triple threat, ladies and gentlemen. They are soooo stingy on the meat. I had to tell the waiter to bring me pieces that were bigger than my thumb. He brought back larger pieces, but they were all so fatty! The flavor options for the broth were bad. I wish they had miso. The service was so off! Asked for two diet cokes but never got it til the VERY end. Asked for certain sushi rolls and had to ask again why they were taking so long to come out. Mind you the restaurant was empty! The server was clueless. The options were super limited on the lunch menu it’s a joke. They practically force you to get the dinner menu and you certainly don’t get the value for your money, as the meat they serve is low quality and stingy. This place managed to do everything wrong. Want good hot pot? Go to Shabu-You.
Madhura Cafe
Absolutely the best South Indian meals I’ve ever had! The flavors were authentic, with perfectly balanced spices that reminded me of home. The sambar was very rich and flavorful, and delicious. The staff was friendly, and the service was quick. Whether you're craving a comforting meal or looking to try something new, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommend.
1. Liked the noodles(spicy and flavorful). 2. Bonda has the texture which makes it more yummy and chutney was delicious too. 3.Tindora fry is quite expensive and also tasted very bad, it has more Besan than Tindora so tastes more like Besan curry. 4. Cut mirchi has my heart, it’s very delicious for the price. FYI All the dishes are super oily, not recommended for the ones on diet and not at all recommended for a cheat meal day too. Overall, yummy but not health friendly when consumed on regular basis.
The Wok
Shrimp with lobster sauce was so salty I couldn’t get past the second bite so I sent it back, no refire wanted even though they offered. My friend didn’t like his general Tso’s either, chicken looked grey and the sauce was cloudy. Got a side of fried shrimp that was very good. Got the bill and was charged for my meal shrimp with lobster sauce. I immediately questioned it because I literally ate two bites, including only one shrimp that was the size of a nickel from the sauce. The waitress said she asked the owner who said to charge for my dish I sent back. I explained I’d pay for the dish he didn’t like the flavor of, but I didn’t feel I should be charged for a dish I couldn’t eat. The owner then said I didn’t have to pay for mine. I was shocked, I said if I ate some of it I’d understand getting charged, but I ate two bites and sent it back. Terrible practices for a restaurant! Rice was yucky too, onions were practically raw still, one bite of that so three small bites of my entire plate. Over soy sauced by far. Waitress adjusted the bill to only charge us for the fried shrimp and soda. I still tipped her on what the full amount would have been because she did a good job. She apologized because she knew I shouldn’t be charged for my plate. Thank god we didn’t get food to go, wouldn’t have known until we got home 45 minutes away .
They were so nice. Awesome staff amazing history great life story!
Golden China Restaurant
When I walked into this place it smelt kinda off and looked like a old run down place. There was nobody else inside when we were eating so that wasn’t a great sign. The decorations weren’t that terrible and the service was pretty nice and friendly. We ordered honey chicken wings, wonton soup, pork with fried vegetables, chicken with mixed vegetables and shrimp fried rice and we got our food relatively quick. For $50 it was good portions for 3 people. For drinks, I don’t recommend the water or the tea, it tasted like bleach. For the food, I had the pork with fried vegetables and rice. Honestly, it tasted kind of bland and the presentation of the food wasn’t really there. But on the up note the wonton soup and the honey chicken wings were impressive. They had good flavor and were cooked nicely. But overall, this place needs some work on a lot of things and I most likely will not be coming back but it is cheap and certain elements were good so if you are around the area and only have a bit of money then it isn’t the worst choice.
I have never had food this tasty and plentiful. Best House Lo Mein ever. Large Won Ton soup was best I've ever had. You will love this restaurant. Small town huge value and food..eat up
Jimmy Thai/Ramen Time
This is a great little a Thai restaurant. This was our 2nd time and it didn't disappoint. Ambiances are low key but, it works. Family friendly restaurant and also like the fact they have reasonable hours so the staff could get to there family on time. Food is absolutely delicious sticks the authentic flavors. We were party of four and we all had enjoyed our food. One of the dish off, the Golden noodles with Shrimp, it has eggs in it but didn't expect it to be very egg forward!
Wow, oh wow!!! This is by far the best green curry in Chicago. I ordered it spicy, and that's exactly what I got! The curry was smooth and bursting with flavor! The service was top-notch! This is definitely THE place to go! The fresh Thai rolls were incredible!
