Fong's Cafe
I don't leave reviews often and when I do they are always positive but unfortunately not this time . I also try to be understanding when especially when it comes to restaurants as I know it's a hard business. The food was horrible, we threw almost everything away after the first few bites. Absolutely everything came out of the freezer section at Walmart and I mean everything! Everything was bland and soggy with one exception which was the odd use of uncooked XL chunks of celery. I'm fat I know what Chinese food should be like and I would have been very disappointed if I paid 6 bucks for this at Walmart let alone $21 at fongs . Order at your own risk
Fongs used to be a great place to eat. The last time I went, all of the prices had been raised close to a dollar. They weren't even sneaky about it. All of the menus have the prices crossed out and replaced with new ones written in sharpie. It's almost like a slap in the face. We used to be able to eat there for under $15 and feel like it was a great value. Now it's usually closer to $20 or more. Also, be aware that if you want your sauce on the side (I hate soggy leftovers), they charge extra for that. This used to be a place that we came to regularly. Now, not so much...
Great Dragon Buffet
The fried rice was good. I ordered the fried shrimp to go with it, they fired 8 shrimp in pairs and was really just too much batter. Would have been better as individual shrimp that I was hoping for. Ok overall but definitely room for improvement.
A hole in the wall and a hidden gem! Tucked into a strip mall off of New Brighton Blvd, this was a good find. Buffet, $10/person. Food is continuously replenished and is fresh and obviously made with care. Not much for atmosphere, but who cares? Great flavors at a great price.
Leeann Chin
2025-02-15 - I visited the Leeann Chin location in St. Anthony, MN, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11:30 AM. Unfortunately, my experience was marred by subpar customer service from one of the sales associates. While one associate was friendly and attentive, the other associate who assisted me seemed disinterested and unhelpful. She prioritized conversations with her peer over attending to my needs. When I requested a receipt, she instructed me to retrieve it myself instead of handing it to me. When I politely expressed my disappointment with her service, she ignored my comment. Furthermore, I was taken aback when the friendlier associate sat on the counter with her shoes on the counter, displaying a lack of attention to cleanliness and customer presence. As a customer, I do enjoy the food of the establishment, but I expect a certain level of attentiveness and cleanliness. I hope Leeann Chin will take steps to address this issue and provide better training for their staff, especially sitting on the counter with shoes, as evidence by the attached picture.
I needed tofu already made for a curry I was making. They have some here; not the best, nor worst I’ve had. A bit chewy & near $10…will still be on the hunt for amazing already cooked tofu. They used to sell pre-cooked in Denver, CO for $4 at near any Asian grocery store…not here for some reason.
