Joy Cup Noodles Mean
I literally love this place the food is so good and super flavorful. The service was so great, the man was extremely friendly and joyful. You have to come here!! You can also do karaoke for free and it’s byob! We got the Dan Dan noodles, blanket noodles w beef and soup dumplings
A very pleasant surprise here. Don’t let its name fool you as it serves a wide variety of authentic Chinese dishes, mostly of Cantonese variety, but also some Update: we tried its steamed buns (小笼包) today at &19 for 16 of them. They were small, but very tasty. I like the. Better than the famous Ding Ta Fung (鼎泰丰) located all over the world. I also tried its chicken soup over rice. Once again, it was tasty, but it wasn’t soupy as advertised and it could use more chicken in this dish. As before, the food was good, but a bit on the pricy side. Shanghainese and Szechuan dishes. We had the ginger/onion chicken (similar to Hainan chicken) and beef with bitter melon. Both were very tasty and sizes were quite large. We will try its noodles on our next visit. The proprietor who also served as the cook was very friendly and efficient. A definitely worth future visits.
Mian (Honolulu)
The food was acceptable, although the flavours are tasty and slightly spicy (for the House Beef Noodles). The rolled pancakes with beef slices were interestingly nice, had purple cabbage in it (a first seeing vegetable apart from cucumber slices in such dish). Ambience of the place was rather quiet and unassuming, there were no other patrons during the lunch time except for some people who came to do takeouts instead.
Wontons were cooked perfectly, the sauce had a good kick and a hint of sweetness to it. The best wontons I had on the island. The wrapper was not too thick and the filling was very very juicy. Chengdu Zhajiang Noodle was delicious but maybe because we got it for takeout the noodle was cooked a little past aldente. Sauce, again, was delicious. The portion of the noodle was huge. Beef pancake roll was tasty and the bread was flaky and good. We ordered at 11 and food was ready by 11:20. Amazing service! Edit after eating in: everything was AMAZING.
Chengdu Taste
Dinner at this restaurant was a good experience! Authentic Chinese, Sichuan cuisine indeed. Food quality was good, flavourful for the most number of dishes ordered. The hot and sour soup could have been more on the sour side, but it tasted more peppery somehow. The ong choy with fermented beancurd was rather tasty. So were the shrimp fried rice and twice cooked pork. The sautéed potato strips with red chilli and vinegar could have been more tangy as well. Overall, a wonderful dining place which can remind one of comfort Chinese homecooked cuisine.
Food was good. The only difficulty was finding parking in the area. We ordered tomato eggs, fish in pickled vegetable soup, spicy pepper chicken. All solid choices.
An Dong Chinese Restaurant
If you often have cravings for Korean Chinese dishes like Jjamppong or Jajangmyeon, the On Dong restaurant will soon become one of your favorites. Staffed by Korean ajummas, the service is fast, attentive and efficient. The ambiance is simple, casual and comfortable. The dishes we often order are the Jajangmyeon, Jjamppong, Tangsuyuk, and fried mandoo (pot stickers). All of them are so addictive! On Dong has always satiated our need for authentic and delicious Korean Chinese food. We’ve been loyal customers of the Eastern Paradise restaurant for decades, but when the kind owners retired at the end of 2024, we thought we would struggle to find a new place to satisfy our Korean Chinese food cravings. To our pleasant surprise, On Dong consistently brought familiar nods, smiles and a contented silence to the table as we were so focused on savoring our tasty meals there. Dine-in or takeout, you’ll be glad you came by.
Sweet and sour pork was S TIER, really good, super crispy 👌 Jjajangmyeon was also delicious definitely would recommend both ✌️
Panda Express
I stopped by and got the “bigger plate” which included three entrees. Went half and half on the fried rice and fried rice noodles. My go to entree is the honey walmut shrimp. That took care of my honey walnut craving. I also tried out their crispy chili shrimp. It was very dry and lacked flavor. I also got the tofu and eggplant which was served is a separate smaller box. This vegetarian entree was good. The service here is great. People behind the counter are friendly. Ample seating space. Parking is hard to get as the lot was full when I arrived for dinner. This is not a new issue for Hawaii. I parked on the street and walked a bit to the restaurant. Overall, good dining experience.
Location is a tight fit. When the drive-through gets busy, traffic backs up. Parking is a total nightmare here. Would NOT recommend this location based upon parking availability. Food and service are ok compared to other locations of the parent brand.
Dew Drop Inn
insanely good - the shrimp breading was the best i can fathom. noodles were fantastic, great flavor all around, very impressed!
I remember going to this restaurant thirty years ago as a child of about seven with my dad. I remember it being small, but cozy and two older, silver haired aunties working inside. I confess, I wasn’t a picky child and liked everything that I ate here, especially the steamed rice. Having found it still open and in the same location I had to try it with my wife. We arrived at the perfect time to find a parking spot and went inside to be greeted be two older aunties, not quite silver haired. One took our party size and we were sat within moments. I remember seeing a chef on the menu and looking through the pages. After a few minutes we ordered the house fried rice, shrimp and pork spicy sauce wonton, and the shrimp and pork pot sticker. Unfortunately, of the three, my wife and I only liked the house fried rice. The wontons had a healthy dose of cilantro in each and as a garnish overpowering the dish. The potstickers would have been good, but the sauce at table side was heavy with toasted sesame. This may have been my fault as a lack of understanding on my part, but it killed the flavor unfortunately. It was a good memory relived, but I may prefer going to a more well understood dining experience.
King Restaurant & Bar
Food is really good and the portion is huge.....price is ok and good service....parking is a little bit tricky due to limited availability....but overall place is really good
Had a quick lunch of shu Mai, Har gow and some pan fried item they recommend. Dumplings were already hot and came out instantly. Really really good flavor and the shu Mai had pork and mushroom with fish eggs on top. It looked a little weirder than ones I've had before but they were excellent. Har gow flavor was great too.
Bo’s Kitchen
Loved my quick takeout lunch here. Online order is super easy and it's great for skipping the waiting lines. The Hainan style chicken was very satisfying and a solid portion to bring on the post-lunch snoozes. Only thing I could have wanted was a spicy chili sauce with it- otherwise it comes with shoyu, ginger oil and sweet chili sauce. The braised gizzards were tasty too :)
I was passing by and a parking space was available so I pulled right in. Yes, they have a very limited parking and they are very popular. I went in for my lunch and the place was full with Straub Medical people as the Straub Medical Center is very near by and the people working at the Honolulu Police Station across the street. I placed an order of black bean sauce over chicken and noodle for $14.50, which is cheap, and it was great, soo tasty. I also have to mention that the staff are very polite and efficient while this place was so busy. This is a great place and I would come more only if there were more parking.
Golden Eagle Chinese Restaurant
First time. Last minute selection to get something different. Service was quick. Unfortunately, the scallops were the bay scallop “small” size, very little mushroom, and the portion size seemed a bit small compared to the price.
The food and service were great, but the place was dated and the people were preparing the food at the table next to us. But all in all it was great food.
Mini Garden Orient Cuisine
The food was fresh and delicious. Service friendly and helpful. You’ll feel like you’ve arrived at that hidden gem where the locals eat authentic Asian food. Hong Kong style noodles were delicious, as was the tofu and eggplant. Vegetarian potstickers were not listed on the expansive menu, but when the server realized we were vegetarian she made the recommendation. Great place!
The food here was super good! We went when they weren’t busy which was nice since Honolulu area was always filled with people. Their garlic fried rice was super yum.
Golden Duck Restaurant
Found the old school Cantonese comfort food of the islands. Food and service were surprisingly good. We will be back to have a larger party here. Lunch and Dinner plates priced right for the quantity and selection for a mixed plate. Decent crowd of dine in and take out customers.
I ordered the crispy oyster chicken noodle and it was great! The serving was huge. I paid $11.95 and the container could feed 2 people easy. I also purchased shrimp chips those were fabulous crunchy tasty and big. The waiter was kind and fast. I gave the 3 stars because the restaurant was cramped and there is little parking. That aside the food was the best Chinese food I’ve had since COVID. I will definitely be returning. The prices and the food definitely outweigh the cramped restaurant and junk parking!
SXY Szechuan
We came here on a Friday for lunch and were pleased to find a table for 3. Lots of choices for the appetizers, entrees. Loved the Szechuan pepper 🌶️ in the dishes. The chili wontons were very good (size is perfect for a one bite). The green beans were fresh and crisp. The lamb with cumin and cilantro was very addictive and the twice-cooked pork was stir-fried with a lot of green onions/leeks. We walked away pretty impressed since we can find good Chinese food in California.
-2023/2024 visits- The cold spicy chicken dish is too rough, which the chicken is supposed to be very tender. The mala intestines and frogs are amazing! Chilli diced chicken tastes really tender with proper seasoning. Some dishes just make this place my favorite Chinese restaurant on island now. -2024/12- Just tried some non popular dishes here, all.i wanna say is, better not to ask for the seasoning adjustment so you won't miss the authentic flavor. Coz every time I asked to lower the heat, the flavor changed in a negative way. ~~~Latest Update 2025~~~ Again here. But this time trying their grilled fishes, which were so nice with lot of ingredients. You can also add extra sides, like hot pot. Extra intestines at 10 dollars, extra duck blood at 10 dollars. Strongly recommend to come by for lunch which is less crowded and better service.
