Hong Kong BBQ
Some a y’all may remember that I lived in Hong Kong for 2 years, and this past Thanksgiving, I decided what I wanted a smoked Duck (especially since the price of an 8-10 lb Heritage turkey was about $150)!😡😡 We heard about HK BBQ from a colleague, and after checking around on cost, this one was THE most reasonable. Whole roasted Duck ($31.99) Half Duck ($16.89) if you’re just curious and want to try. Ducks hang in the window so you can pick out the one you want. So, a couple things: You can buy the duck, but they don’t sell the “pancakes”. I asked. The owner, who was very nice told me, “That’s how they do it in Hong Kong, we don’t sell it that way here.” I thought that was curious.. u kno.. since you named your business HK BBQ🙄🤷🏼♀️😂 The duck was excellent (even though we didn’t have the pancakes)! I want to take a moment to mention the facility that the cafe is located in: as you approach the restaurant/cafe there’s a beautiful sitting area that brings the outside in (as you’d expect in Asia). It’s very serene and a nice enclave to have lunch if you have time to stop. HK BBQ is located in a food court. There are a few other cafes in the court, but from what I saw, they didn’t seem as popular, as HK BBQ were the only ones with a line. The last thing I’ll say is that their menu is QUITE extensive! It’s two sided, separated by a black and white side. If you dig Chinese food, you’ll have a ball going through this menu!
Visited Chinatown in Atlanta and tried the Peking duck at this place. Finally found a spot that serves it just right! Crispy, juicy, and everything you'd expect from a Peking duck. Even the fancy restaurants I've been to couldn't match up. Already craving more!
New Lan Zhou Noodle
Really great Chinese breakfast made fresh to order. I loved the crispy garlic chive pie dripping with bright green chive oil, the lamb viscera soup, and the danbing with egg and cruller inside. Don’t let the viscera put you off of trying the lamb soup as it’s just a comforting, savory broth with soft, not chewy or gristly bits of lamb. And don’t forget to get dessert next door at Family Baking afterward!
Amazing food stall inside the Doraville Chinatown ran by a hardworking family. The mom speaks with her Tianjing accent and really brought the taste of her home to Atlanta. I had a great $10 breakfast for two here. The chive pies tastes like the ones my mom makes. I really love it! This is one of a kind place in Atlanta
China Kitchen
My husband and I would always choose China Kitchen when eating out at the ATL China Town. The food is tasty and authentic. It is placed inside the China Town food court, which reminds me of a hawker style eatery. I love this place. A few of my posted photos show the food being placed in takeout containers, as I did not order for dine-in in those instances, but if you ask to dine in, the food will be served in proper plates and bowls, or even hot pots, depending on what you order. Please be aware that there is a small add-on fee if you use a credit card. I personally would try to bring cash whenever I come here, but there is an ATM inside the food court as well if you need it.
Atlanta's Chinatown is not quite a Chinatown... It's more of a food court, so don't expect it to be something extravagant (or even close to it) like LA, NY, or SF. That being said, there are some great spots there! I tried out China Kitchen, which is excellent for fast and cheap food! The food is delicious and so inexpensive - everything there is around $10 or less. My favorite dishes I got were the eggplant with garlic sauce, spicy chicken, and salt and pepper fish.
Top One Gourmet
Never disappoints, food is fresh off the wok and friendly service. Been coming here since 1996. The shrimp noodle soup is very tasty.
Great food even better service. It's located inside the food court of Atlanta Chinatown Mall.
Oriental Pearl Seafood Restaurant
Consistently delicious, flavorful dim sum. Super efficient service and friendly people. We've enjoyed food here for the last 4 years and keep coming back. Highly recommend.
Had a high expectation for this dim sum place, but the entire dining experience wasn’t that good. The only food tasted good was the porridge. The shrimp dumplings tasted and looked like the frozen food from the factory. When we ask help to refill our tea, the server took the teapot and never come back, since the foods were salty, we ended up getting the teapot by ourselves. The server was rushing us to pay while there were still half of the room with empty seats. Would not come back again.
Chong Qing Hot Pot
From the time we walked up & ordered our food until the time we were ready to leave & boxed up our food we were satisfied 😋 The lady behind the counter was very knowledgeable. And knew the whole menu inside & out she was also very familiar with the noodles & which dishes paired well with what noodle !! We ordered the seafood hotpot and house fried rice. Both delicious!! The hot pot was brought out to the table & the flame was lit it stayed hot throughout our entire meal. The broth for the hotpot was delicious & didn’t need anything additional. The fried rice serving was large & they were generous with the meats throughout the dish. We WILL be back. The food court was such a nice surprise definitely exceeded expectations.
I’ve loved this place for many, many years now (going on 8 I believe?). My favorites are the seafood hot pot and eggplant with garlic sauce. It’s so amazing! The guy that owns the place looks a lot like my dad so I call him my American dad. Haha! Service is friendly and quick. I recommend paying with cash but they also take credit cards. 10/10 I’m always recommending them to my friends!
