China Taste
China Taste on W Gandy Blvd is the quintessential hole-in-the-wall spot that surprises with its quality takeout offerings. While it may not be a place you'd choose for dining in, it excels in delivering fresh, flavorful meals cooked to order. The General Tso’s Chicken and Chicken Noodles were standout dishes—deliciously prepared and satisfying. The spring rolls, however, fell a bit short of expectations, lacking the flavor and crispness one might hope for. What truly sets China Taste apart are its reasonable prices and consistently fresh food, making it a reliable choice for takeout when you're craving Chinese cuisine. If you're in the area, it's worth giving this unassuming spot a try for a tasty and budget-friendly meal on the go.
I ordered honey chicken, shrimp fried rice and 2 eggs rolls. The one time they get my order correct, I get home to find cashews in my son’s honey chicken. I called for a replacement, because he is deathly allergic to cashews. The little girl says I can bring it in for a replacement. I pack up the chicken and take it back. I asked if I could get a fresh replacement, the lady and the little girl say yes. I wait a little while, they apologized again and gave me my food. I thought it was too quick so I checked the chicken in the car. Only to find that they just gave me the same chicken I handed to them. It was room temperature and still had fried rice on it and everything. I won’t be going back.
Mr. & Mrs. Crab - Gandy
We are visiting the area, and we were looking for a casual place for some good seafood. A quick search led me here, and I'm so glad it did!! It's such a cute little place, the service was great, our food came out fast and everything was wonderful!! My husband had the catfish bites, and he said they were really good. I had the create your own seafood boil-1/2lb.- Shrimp (no head)- garlic butter - medium heat - with corn added, and it was delicious!! The flavor and amount of heat were perfect! We hope to make it back again before we leave the area!!
Our first visit won’t be our last! We ordered calamari, lobster bisque, salad and the basic boil. All were excellent and more than enough food for 2 of us. The salad was huge, big portion of soup and the boil was a lot of food. This rivals our favorite seafood boil spot on Tybee Island.
Sakana Sushi Restaurant
Quality of food and raw fish is amazing for the happy hour price. After eating many rolls without any modifications, we decided next time we would modify ingredients within the roll (for example, cucumber was in quite a bit of the rolls we got but we felt it would taste better without cucumber and instead with avocado). Again, tasted great but we have had better rolls with different ingredients at other sushi restaurants. Jadyn was an amazing server and was on top of everything during a dinner rush!
Great local spot for sushi. The fish is always extremely fresh! If you come on a Friday or Saturday night expect to wait a little - but it’s worth it! They also have a wide array of other options for food - fried rice, lo mein, etc. I’d say it’s pretty casual in terms of the atmosphere. My boyfriend and I sat at the sushi bar and it was lovely. The service was good but not great- again because they were so busy! Regardless we will be back!
Marco's Pizza
I called to check the status of my pizza, I was not rude in any way but clearly it was taken that way, the driver sent me a text saying to wish him luck that a drink driver didn't kill him and this is how my pizza arrived... Seriously... Why was this necessary. The pizza is good but I'll never order it again!
I used to love marcos. When their food is right, it is good. 4 out of my last 5 orders had problems. This has been within the last couple months. One night, it was really late and not many places were open. So I ordered delivery. I am convinced that the driver just went home with my pizza. I don't know what happened but they NEVER showed up. I ordered maybe about 30 minutes until closing (this is why I am convinced they took my pizza.) By the time I realized that my pizza NEVER ARRIVED, it was too late to call the store because they were closed. And no one knew anything about it the next morning. Two out of my last 5 orders had mushrooms, and I HATE mushrooms. And the finale, today I ordered a phily with double steak, and it had sausage!!!!! Sausage and steak are so gross together. And of course, today I can't go back and pick up a replacement. Who in the hell would order sausage and steak? How do you even make a mistake like that! On a phily???
Rouen Thai Restaurant
For $27 dollars a meal. It’s not that good, and the portions are SMALL.
Good food good service, all the staff and owner really friendly. I love all the food they serve also you can order the dish they not show in the menu.
New China Restaurant
It's a take out place, nothing too exciting. I got the weekday lunch special with a soda, it was 9.25 plus tax. I didn't want to eat in my car so I sat at their only table in the store. At first I when I looked at it, I thought I was going to eat half of the noodles and dump the fried rice. It looked dry but when I add a little bit of soy sauce, it was above my expectations. I destroyed the whole box. 4 outta 5.
My husband went and picked us up food last night, it was clean inside, and food was delicious! I am actually on day two of my food because it’s so good! I got vegetable egg foo young there was three pieces, and it came with white rice and gravy sauce. Then my husband and kids got sweet and sour chicken with rice, which they enjoyed. I was looking at Chinese restaurants to eat at, and if you read this and have a good experience you should leave a review. I think people only leave a review when it’s bad, which sucks for the next person, because I was afraid to eat here but honestly due to time we winged it. I do believe restaurants have more good days, than bad days, so I encourage anyone that reads this if it’s good. Come back and leave a review. Just for proof I added a picture of me scolding it down a dinner plate the next day 😅🙌🏼
Applebee's Grill + Bar
I recently visited Applebee's, and I have to say, my experience was a bit of a mixed bag, but overall positive. First off, the wait was practically nonexistent—arrived, got a seat right away—but I noticed the place was definitely busy, which was a good sign. The restaurant had a lively vibe, though the atmosphere itself felt a little... lackluster. It wasn’t exactly a bad vibe, just kind of "blah" with nothing too exciting in terms of decor or energy. One of the standout changes was the revamped menu, which was a pleasant surprise. There are some great new options to choose from, and the food did not disappoint. The dishes were tasty, and I was impressed with the quality considering the affordable prices. I also decided to try a few mocktails, and they were excellent! Refreshing, flavorful, and definitely a nice touch for those who prefer a non-alcoholic option. The highlight of the meal for me was the Pecan Blondie dessert. It was delicious, rich, and sweet, though I have to say it was a bit too soft for my liking. I love a good dessert, but it was almost on the verge of being a little mushy. Still, it was a minor issue considering how good the rest of the meal was. Overall, Applebee's provides a solid dining experience with friendly service, a revamped menu, and a variety of affordable options. The atmosphere could use a little work, but the food and drinks were more than enough to make up for it. Worth a visit, especially if you're looking for something casual and budget-friendly.
We were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the two for $25 meal, and paid a little bit extra to upgrade to an 8 oz steak. The steak was done to our liking: medium rare, tender and tasty, the garlic mashed potato was delicious. We tried the boneless chicken wings (with Asian Chili sauce) as appetizer and really liked it. My husband took advantage of the Happy Hour and ordered beer. The total bill was reasonable for a nice meal. They also have weekday lunch specials. We will definitely come again.
