Wok N Roll II
Bourbon chicken and Donuts. Entree was very good, The donuts were over cooked on one side and the egg roll was under cooked. Dough was not completely cooked inside.
The food was neither great nor worth the wait. This is the type of restaurant where the service is next to non-existent. It was almost like a ghost kitchen where you place the order online or the phone and pick it up. We seated ourselves after grabbing their menus at the counter. Waited to place our order only to realize that the lady at the front was never going to come to take our order. I had to go to her to place the entire order. The service was kinda sour like she didn't want anyone to eat there. She just took the order and charged me for the food. When the food arrived it was not the best looking. We ordered the chicken curry, sesame chicken, and Mongolian beef. The Mongolian beef was the best looking and tasting. The sesame chicken was second best and the chicken curry was a joke. The chicken was questionable at best. The soup sides were horrible. The wonton soup had no flavor, it could have just been dish water. I would give this place a hard pass for anyone who knows what real Thai food tastes like. It was a total disappointment.
Shang Hai
We have ordered from Shang Hai on multiple occasions now. Although not perfect and personal preferences will differ. We found them to be one of the better if not the best Chinese take out restaurants we’ve tried in the area. The food portions are decent. The food is very good. The prices are decent. I cannot think of much more that I need. Shang Hai’s food so far has fit the bill for us. So I recommend trying them. I rarely give five stars unless the subject is outstanding and above others in their field. So although I thought about it. I gave Shang Hai four stars, because they are very good. But not quite perfect to the point of head and shoulders above the rest. But you can consider it 4.5 stars. And I figure that’s quite good.
I’m from out of state and me and my family were hungry from driving 3 hrs straight. So we were craving Chinese and we were skimming through Ocala and my mom SLAMMED on the breaks once she saw Shanghai Chinese. And turned in but the place seemed kinda sketchy like the food was going to be like 3/10. But to my amazement everything was really good. The service could not be any more friendlier and they brought out the food warm and fresh and ready to eat. We dined in so they asked if we needed more or if we were okay with the food. By the time we were done we tipped them nicely and they even gave us EXCLUSIVE CHINESE RICE SNACKS!!! I would come here again if I lived closer.
China Star
China Star is not the best food we've ever had. But they are pretty good and by far, not the worst. Some things are better than others. Of course personal tastes also come into play. We have tried them more than once and haven't regretted it. Yes some things are only okay. But some things are very good. Again, it depends on your personal taste. Prices seem on par with other similar restaurants. They are convenient to us, so they get a little extra slack. The restaurant seems adequately clean. And service seems good. So I guess I could recommend giving them a try.
The food was fresh & tasted good. I got General Tso' chicken. It wasn't bad ; it was just too crunchy. I've had better in other places. I have eaten other items that were good. I would eat here again.
China King
I’m so sorry but we won’t go back there. I wanted dry kind pork rib tips but there’s wet and tastes not really good. Egg drop soup is super yellow and smells/tastes weird.let me say food is 4 at 10 and my husband says 3 at 10.
Review for China King – Ocala (SR 200) This was my second time visiting China King on SR 200 for takeout. The food is decent, and the wings are actually quite good. However, both visits were overshadowed by the poor customer service I experienced—specifically from the gentleman working the front counter. During my first visit, I noticed his demeanor was aggressive, rude, and somewhat arrogant. I initially gave him the benefit of the doubt, assuming he might have been having a bad day. Unfortunately, my second visit confirmed that this behavior wasn’t an isolated incident. What stood out this time was witnessing the same employee interact with a white gentleman ahead of me—he was kind, respectful, and even cheerful in tone. When it was my turn, the tone immediately shifted. He slammed my food on the counter and spoke to me with the same dismissive and hostile attitude as before. As an African-American man who is new to the area, having recently built a home here, I’ve made it a point to approach every place and person with kindness and respect. To be treated with such hostility—especially in contrast to how others were treated right before me—is deeply disheartening and unacceptable. I don’t know this man’s experiences or mindset, but the difference in treatment was noticeable, and I can’t ignore the possibility that it was racially motivated. Regardless of the reason, no one should have to pay to be treated with such disrespect. This is the first time I’ve encountered this kind of treatment in the Ocala area, and while I had hoped to support local businesses, I’ve made the decision not to return to this location. I believe it’s important for others to be aware of how customers may be treated here. We all deserve to be acknowledged with basic decency and professionalism—nothing less.
