I have been coming here since I was a kid. The place has definitely changed. Can’t even sit and eat inside anymore. Food is terrible. Shrimp with lobster sauce has no flavor and the sesame chicken is basically all breading. Very disrespectful customer service. I’ll never come here again.
FEB 14, 2024--HAVE BEEN A LOYAL CUSTOMER, ORDERING ONLINE FOR OFFICE, BUT TODAY RECEIVED "BURNT FOOD: FRIED RICE, CHICKEN AND EGG ROLLS"--IN BOTH THE COMBINATION PLATES" ORDERED. JUST CALLED TO COMPLAIN AND LADY SAID: "I ONLY TAKE ORDERS, I AM NOT THE COOK". NO ONE IN OUR OFFICE WILL ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN
Dough Zone Dumpling House San Mateo
Came here to celebrate achieving a milestone. The food is amazing and did not disappoint. My husband and I are vegetarians and we loved that there is a wide range of vegetarian options. Being new to Chinese food there are some really good options. We got the vegetarian spicy ma la noodles and the signature numbing spiciness of the Sichuan peppers was a great experience. 10/10 will recommend.
I used to love this place but not anymore. Somehow they change my fav dish “pan fried beef pie” 牛肉餡餅 into a weird shape and cut it like nobody know they want to save the money serve to customer cheat food. Taste not the same. And the whole pie is thiner than a paper. Feel like I’m eating a fried cardboard. I don’t understand why they change it like this. We pay what we get. But why you all of a sudden change it to a cheaper version of the food and that’s not what 牛肉餡餅looks like. I’m beyond disappointed at this moment and asking myself. Why? Why? why? Is it so hard to keep it like original? And I asked the waiter, this is not the pan fired beef pie. He’s super confidant and tell me yes! That’s the pan fried beef pie. We just change it to a different shape not round anymore. And look at me like I’m a stupid person who doesn’t know what’s pan fried beef pie. Ok, I know I’m not coming back. And That guy gave me attitude makes me feel I’m wrong. Of course we kinda argued about the “pie” and he did say that he can return that order. But hello???!!!! I don’t care bout money problem right now. I care bout the beef pan fired pie, the taste the shape the thick pie!!!! So sad why is a good restaurant has to change it and later on close the restaurant. I know I’m not coming back. All because of that. Oh, and we also have pan fried dumping 鍋貼. Guess what? They change it too!!! They don’t serve with soy sauce paste 醬油膏 anymore. They give you kimchi which I don’t understand. And the kimchi taste so bad. I ask them and they just denying “we never serve the soy sauce paste醬油膏 before. WOW Fool me once is ok. Fool me twice….. Sorry byeeeee~ Enough for arguing. I’m just paid and bounce not even finish the food.

Came here with a group and we had no wait on Tuesday at 2 pm. Good: - This place has so much variety - I loved the pumpkin dessert, and the fried tomato and egg with rise, the duck soup was hearty too - Peanut noodles were a standout dish - Portion sizes were good and this place was great value for the price - Bright natural lighting and homey ambiance Bad: - Wish I could have tried more of the dishes before we got full! Overall this place was amazing! I'd come again
Love this place! I’ve been coming here regularly and it never disappoints. The flavors are spot on—just like what you’d get in a small shop in China. The pork dumplings and noodle soup are my go-to, and the chili oil is amazing. Super affordable, fast service, and always consistent. It’s one of those rare spots where you feel like you’re getting real homemade food. Highly recommend if you're in San Mateo and want something satisfying and authentic.
Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant
It depends on what foods you get to know if they're good or not. I recommend the sweet and sour chicken and any of the fried rices, especially the pork fried rice! The egg rolls are really good! The tea is, hands down, the most 🙌 👏 👌 excellent tea I have ever drank in my entire life! And being from Robeson County, we are tea drinking people! I buy anywhere from 10 to 20 teas per week @ $2 for a large cup and it's worth every penny! I don't know what they do to it but it has a hint of lemon that's subtle and it's breathtaking ✨️ 😍!!! Omgosh I cannot get enough of it! It's not the tea we drink from home or from a place like Fullers but it's superb!! I don't really suggest that anyone sit in to eat especially during the winter or you will freeze because they don't heat the building or dining area. I dont recommend the vegetable lo mein because it's all noodles and no veggies, even after you pay for the extra veggies!! It's ridiculous so after many arguments over veggies I just stopped ordering it there! Now if you want plenty of meat then the beef lo mein would be an excellent suggestion but I don't eat much meat! The plates are plenty big enough to share with someone! That's what me and my husband do always! We share every plate and we still have leftover food! I wouldn't suggest their mixed vegetable plate at all! The veggies are in some kind of slimy sauce! Yucky!! 🤮 The staff are as friendly as they know how to be with the language barrier. One thing I want to try that I haven't yet is their teriyaki chicken!
Hong Kong has been in Red Springs for years, same location. They have good food, my favorite is General Tso’s Chicken. Service is always the same and they are nice people.
China Cafe
Well and simple: One of the greatest Chinese kitchen in town. This is the place that you can really get a real Fried Rice and serve it in no time. Delivery has been recorded in my book as the fastest delivery ever. Part of the experience has to do with Nicole, she is a Master in the Art of Customer Service. With an exceptional support backing her professional work. For this 5 stars and all my best for you and your team.

Superstar Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant
I really enjoyed this dim sum restaurant! All the dishes we ordered were tasty, fresh, and notably free from MSG, leaving us comfortable and not overly thirsty after the meal—a big plus. Food Highlights: The steamed chicken was tender and flavorful. The dim sum varieties like shumai and Baked BBQ Pork buns were delicious and well-prepared. The vegetables tasted fresh and complemented the other dishes nicely. Service: The service is friendly and responsive once you get their attention, but there are not many staff members circulating, so you might need to approach them for assistance. Still, their warmth and responsiveness made up for this. Atmosphere: The restaurant atmosphere was clean and welcoming, though slightly chilly due to a lack of HVAC heating. Wearing an extra layer of clothing easily solves this minor inconvenience. Overall, a great place for dim sum, especially for those sensitive to MSG or looking for a healthier dining option. Just remember to dress warmly!
Went in this evening with my partner and only ordered three items, first item(steamed pork buns) came in right away but then second item (sweet and sour chicken) took a while and finally the chow main never came. At this point me and my partner had been waiting for almost 40 minutes and not once did the waitress update on the status of the food. Not to mention a party of 4 came in like 25 minutes after us and were being attended and receiving their food on a timely manner. At the hour mark we told the waitress just to give the bill for the two items, Paid and left. There are better options in downtown San Mateo with outstanding customer service, this place ain’t it, stay away.
