Chan's Chinese Food
I had food from here before and I never had any problems with this place, and I usually leave good reviews for restaurants I go to. I'm not trying to seem like a brat when I write this but oh my goodness, I can't believe what I got. My family ordered orange chicken for me and picked it up because I'm having pregnancy cravings and I was so happy I began eating right away, half way through eating I saw somethings little odd and I freaked out but I'd decided to calm down a check, so I take what I saw out and clean it a bit to get a better look at it, I had found a freaking worm in my food! Now I know accidents can happen, I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt and think " Maybe it fell in when they were packing the food" but it would be alive if that was the case, and it would have been found in-between the layers of my food (between two pieces of chicken) I'm so lucky it didn't stick to the one I had on my fork. I feel sick after finding it and have already eaten more than half, I was so hungry when I got it I can't even bring myself to throw up. I threw the rest of it away, that just completely ruined my appetite (it looks like it was just an inch work but it's still a worm in a place it shouldn't be nonetheless) Don't they check the food while making and packing it? It's definitely the pregnancy hormones getting the better of me but I'm literally crying right now!
I have been a big fan of Chan’s for many years. I always order the same thing, Vegetable Lo Mein. However, I’ve noticed within the last few months the food has gotten very salty. The flavor is still there (delicious!) but I can barely make it through a bit without needing to drink water. Wish they could tone back on the amount of sodium. Customer service is always nice and staff is great.
Arashi Yama sushi & hibachi lounge
Didn’t expect to find such high quality food in a college town! Blue fin o-toro, uni, Fargo salmon, truffle…. Menu is innovative with a wide range of flavors. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Ambience is posh and inviting. Chu chu lobster, uni bomb, sweet 16 and crispy bok choy are some of my favorites. Loved this restaurant so much that after Thursday’s dinner, we returned on Saturday for lunch. If you are in Gainesville and you love Japanese food, Arashi Yama is place not to be missed!
The presentation of the hamachi toro was so beautiful and tasted wonderful. The best fish I’ve had in Gainesville by far. Don’t waste your time downtown. From the silverware and plating to the beautiful fish lanterns, we enjoy this spot very much. 10/10 recommend for date night or family night!
Taste
I've been looking for a great Pho restaurant for years, and we've finally found one! It's a 50 minute drive from Suwannee County for us, but well worth it. LOVED the calamari, veggie tempora and the beef Pho. Wonderful light taste to the broth...come hungry, it's a big bowl!
Very friendly staff and delicious food! Definitely worth trying out if you're in the mood for tasty pho/ramen! The atmosphere is very welcoming and it was nice to see the workers nice interactions while enjoying a tasty meal! The ramen is delicious and the pho is pho-nominal!! 👀 The cheesecake is delicious with a unique flavor!
