Plateful Chinese Buffet
We’ve been regulars at Plateful Chinese Buffet in DeFuniak Springs, and every time we visit, it feels like coming home. The staff always welcomes us warmly and even remembers our little one, who they absolutely adore! The food is consistently delicious with a wide variety of tasty dishes that keep us coming back for more. It’s also a fantastic spot for families, with a relaxed, kid-friendly atmosphere that makes dining here a joy. As a family from Germany now living in the States, we truly appreciate the warmth and familiarity we feel here. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and a welcoming environment! Best wishes from the three from Germany – and the big one! (The other pictures lost on the phone if I find them I will update this review)
Nicely done. The food was fresh and hot (that's hard to manage at buffet). Everything was very tasty, plenty of seafood to choose from and the vegetable dishes were fresh and not overcooked. Family friendly environment.
JB's Chinese Restaurant
Chinese and some southern food (frog legs, fried chicken and crawfish). Food was good, atmosphere was calm and quiet, even for a Sunday afternoon. Cost was about $20 a plate. I would eat there again.
Also known as Plateful Chinese sushi and hibachi....service was the best and friendliest I've ever had at a buffet, waitress is very outgoing, refills and entertaining the little ones. All good was fresh and delicious and I also had the best frog legs ever. We will be back!!
V Pho Vietnamese Cuisine
V Pho, a Vietnamese culinary gem, offers an extraordinary dining experience. Its rich, aromatic broth, infused with star anise, cinnamon, and slow-cooked bones, harmonizes perfectly with tender beef, Thai basil, bean sprouts, and lime. The spring rolls are a textbook example of perfection, with whisper-thin rice paper wrapping fresh herbs, vermicelli, and succulent shrimp. The velvety peanut sauce balances sweetness and nuttiness. Beyond the delectable food, the immaculate clean space and attentive service create a peaceful retreat. V Pho stands as an unparalleled destination for authentic Vietnamese dining, leaving a lasting impression on both seasoned pho connoisseurs and newcomers alike.
V Pho Vietnamese is a hidden gem 💎! Recently stayed in DeFuniak Springs at an RV campground for a week. Ended up eating at V Pho twice. A very pleasant surprise find for us. The restaurant has only been open a few months according to our server. The interior is bright and clean in appearance. The serving staff was very helpful, courteous, and prompt on both visits. Started with the crispy egg rolls. They appear handmade with a Mixture of savory pork, vegetables, and noodles in the wrapping. Very tasty! Many combinations of Pho are on the menu. On the first visit I asked if the Pho I was interested in (number P7) was similar to a “rare beef” which is my favorite. She assured me it was. Then had the kitchen put the beef on a separate plate so I could actually put it in myself. I thought that was awesome, kudos to the staff! On the second visit, I got the same thing because it was so delicious but requested double meat this time. This request was happily obliged. If you’re traveling through the area on I-10 it is definitely worth a detour if this is your type of cuisine.
YAMATO STEAK HOUSE OF JAPAN
Edit: Food has improved! The flavor of the sauce that goes with the shrimp tempura roll is a much better authentic taste. The salmon avocado roll was good as well! The tempura has been great consistently, so that's a big improvement. Overall seems they have improvements going on in the kitchen. Service has always been consistent and nice! Still the best in town, but there is still room for improvement! Looking forward to that! Old review: The food is alright, didn't really hit the mark. In my photos you can see that there is essentially no difference between the chicken fried rice and hibachi chicken besides adding some vegetables. Having smaller veggies added to the rice and more variety would improve the taste. This might just be to save time and cost. Other menu items I've had just don't taste authentic. It is the only Japanese style restaurant in Defuniak, so it's the best we have for now. Service is good and they are always timely in my experience, just wish the dishes were tastier. I have yet to try some of the raw sushi, but the tempura shrimp roll was pretty good. I'll be returning but I would like to see improvements.
The rice was not cooked properly with some parts mushy and overcooked, and other portions crunchy and barely cooked; the cabbage inside the spring roll was extremely mushy and overcooked. To think I was charged close to 40 bucks for this meal is ridiculous. Do not go here. You will be sadly disappointed.
4C BBQ
It was kind of dark when we walked in, but the atmosphere was nice. The service was decent. They serve happy hour food and vegetarian dishes as well as BBQ plates. They also have live music and karaoke. There is an outside seating area as well.
Great food, even better service. I was hungry, didn't even pause to take a picture. Fries were hot and lightly seasoned. Fish was lightly coated and tasty. Fried cheese curds and wings were quite good. We asked for ranch for the wings and tried the garlic Parmesan. The garlic Parmesan was heavy in the garlic, glad we asked for ranch. We stopped at 3:30 in the afternoon, the happy hour margaritas (in rocks) were very well done!
Ed's Restaurant
Just got a 4 piece thigh and 2 cajun wings. The service was great the chicken was hot, fresh and seasoned. Will definitely be back as I’m new to the area. Just wish they had more apps maybe fried mushrooms, onion rings and sides on a daily basis to go with the chicken. Still great 👍🏾
We just got our food five minutes ago. Fries are cold, no salt at all. And the bun is stale and falling apart. I can’t even hold the burger together. This place is not cheap either. Shame on yall. I’ll never be back. And you claim to have the best burgers. The hamburger patty was a frozen patty and very cheap quality. Worse quality than a McDonald’s burger.
H & M Hot Dogs
Love the customer service. However my hamburger was undercooked and no one wears gloves. Going back in forth to the cashier without gloves is insane.
I'm sure the hot dogs are great, but my Buddha! those burgers are sooooo goooood!
Cafe Nola Defuniak
I had the Boudin eggrolls a cup of seafood gumbo and luckily I’m here on Friday so I was able to get the red beans and rice with a catfish fillet. Apparently it’s the special they only do Monday and Friday. Lucky me it being Friday. The servers were very nice and courteous atmosphere clean and very New Orleans themed The food was very flavorful definitely Cajun spice, but not overly spicy the food came out prompt and hot. The catfish was not rubbery so more than likely fresh not frozen. Portions are very generous. The price is about what you’d expect in 2025. I had sweet tea with a couple lemons to drink, and the tea was perfect, not overly steeped and not overly sweetened All in all would recommend and will definitely return
The food was delicious, the service was great. We had a really lovely window seat. The atmosphere was really special with an upbeat Jazz that was the right amount of background. My husband asked for the Nola Muffaletta without the muffuletta and they were so accommodating, he was so happy with his sandwich and the baked potato salad. I had the Bayou Mahi, it was so good, just the right amount of spicy and so flavorful.
La Terraza Mexican Restaurant
Different !!! I walked in and thought I was in a grocery store, then saw some tables up front (see photo). Authentic? Maybe! I’m used to TexMex, so I didn’t really like it. The waitress was very sweet but barely understood English. The chicken enchiladas were literally shredded chicken rolled in a flour tortillas. Any extra ingredients were a light garnish on top. A layer of tomato paste (almost made it taste Italian), then very light garnish of onions, etc. The rice was average, and I don’t like beans so no eval there (see photo). The 7UP bottle was not English label, kinda cool (see photo). Beef tacos to go, similar issues. Just beef, with a little bit of green stuff I thought was Cilantro but it didn’t have any real flavor. (Cilantro would have really helped). Beef and a few green leafy parsley?, but no lettuce no tomatoes, no cheese in the tacos. A little bit of cheese on the beans, looked like Parmesan but wasn’t, not much flavor. Side salsas in squeeze bottles had some spice. As I said, DIFFERENT ! Interesting but I personally wouldn’t go back.
Food was amazing it's not really in a restaurant. It's a grocery store, but if you're looking for an authentic experience, this is it!
La Guerrerense Taqueria
This was a very great experience 😋. I love Mexican spots 🇲🇽 🌮🌯🍛♨️🥩❤️🔥🍗🛖 🏕️🏬 and I adore the environment. Very nice people and atmosphere at La Guerrense Taqueria. I told my girlfriend, about this restaurant as well . Her name Nesha ( sexyhazel25 💛 on Snapchat . “ I’m very hungry nesha so I stopped at this very nice Mexican spot , it’s a local restaurant plus and market, I got number 18 on the menu , the choripollo 😋” is what I said to Nesha. I enjoyed the food and I’m Haitian. One critique I can say is the salt 🧂, I wish they could add a little more salt on the rice , beans , and a bit more seasoning on the chicken. I loved menu 18 and how the chicken came it . I was very tender and a juicy bite. The chicken from the choripollo is amazing . The choripollo is only 13 bucks and some change , which has Mexican Sausage & Chicken, topped with Mozzarella Cheese Served with rice & beans. And I get me a bev ( bev is short for beverages in uptown in states like New York ) . The bev I got is a drink called horchata 🧊 🥛 and it’s very amazing . My horchata ( wish it was a little sweeter 😩 🇲🇽) had ice and it’s a nice combo especially if u got your good spicy 🥵 🌶️ , the horchata will come to save the day , especially with your tongue 🥤 💦 👅 . The horchata will be tasty 🤤 😋 to your tongue if u try it as well. And I loved that they gave me extra tortillas as well 😍🫓, thanks . Thank you for this amazing experience.
ABSOLUTELY one of the best Mexican places we've EVER EATEN
