E’s Fish and Chips Soul Food Restaurant
Overall this was the best soul food spot I’ve experienced. The food was amazing!! 1000/10 so much flavor with the crispy fried chicken to the collard greens and the baked Mac and cheese . Everything is homemade authentic really gives you that Southern style taste!! Their lemonade are homemade as well and packed with flavor not watery .
My husband and I were craving fish and chips so we gave E’s a try. I was not sure what to expect but I am so happy we stopped by. The space is not big and there are no tables but the lady behind the counter was very welcoming. There is a menu on the wall with a lot to offer. That day all I wanted was 2 orders of the fish, shrimp and fries comb…or so I thought. I ended-up ordering two junior size fish and shrimp combos, a small candied yams, small potato salad, a slice of carrot cake, and a homemade Arnold Palmer (ice tea/lemonade combo drink) and a homemade strawberry lemonade- $57. The fish and the shrimp are a good portion, lightly breaded (you can see the fish and shrimp- no hiding under batter or breadcrumbs), lightly seasoned and not dry. If you over cook seafood it can become dry or chewy- not the case for our order. The candied yams came hot, the potato salad chilled, and the slice of carrot cake was very generous. The yams took me back to my childhood- they reminded me of my grandma’s yams. I could have cried when I had them- I highly recommend! The potato salad reminded me of family gatherings at my mother-in law’s house. I loved her potato salad. Again- I highly recommend! Now for my new drug of choice- the Arnold Palmer! You could see the pieces of lemon as you swirled the liquid. I would go back just for that! My husband would have finished the strawberry lemonade but I drank that as well. And last but not least- the carrot cake. It was soo good! From the icing to the density. The only thing I missed was the nuts inside but it was just as good without them. We will be visiting E’s again!
