Red Lotus Restaurant
I’m from California, now living in Texas and visiting Providence. Red Lotus is one of my very favorite restaurants. It was worth the two hour drive each way. Larry the chef/owner is a terrific host and has a great non-traditional Asian menu. Last night’s appetizer was shrimp stuffed jalapeños cooked tempura style. We could have ordered four of those and made that our dinner. For the entree, you can’t go wrong with the Peking Beef. My fav. No mater what I’ve had there, it has been pretty wonderful. A big plus is that staff are well trained and help each other with serving and picking up.
The best Asian restaurant I been to the fall of the bone 🍖 ribs are the best in Connecticut I will be back. Nice place for date with your spouse
Ming Feng Chinese Restaurant
From the moment we call, we are always greeted with unusually friendly service that makes us feel welcome. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction throughout the ordering process and for the meal. The food is undeniably authentic, bursting with flavors that transport us back to our travels through China with every bite. Each dish is visibly prepared with care and attention to detail, showcasing the chef's expertise and dedication to quality. It's refreshing to find such genuine flavors in a Chinese takeout place, making this restaurant always a worthwhile choice for Chinese takeout. Their continuous innovation and creativity are worth highlighting. They regularly introduce new and creative ideas to their menu that are truly worth trying. Exploring their menu feels like embarking on a culinary journey rather than just ordering typical takeout. And let's not forget about the prices, which are surprisingly reasonable. This makes it not only a delicious dining option but also an affordable one, perfect for those looking for a fulfilling meal without breaking the bank.
Super friendly staff. I've always gotten the General Tso's Tofu here and it's so good that it should get an award. Best in CT! It's very sad that I've moved towards Hartford. However... whenever I'm nearby, and in the mood for Chinese food, I will order here.
Dragon 168 Chinese Restaurant
It was my first day in Connecticut. I randomly chose Dragon 168 for some Chinese food. I'm glad I did. Everything was delicious. I haven't had good Chinese food in a long time and thus made up for all the bad. I will definitely go back, and I highly recommend it . We had House Mei fun, chicken and broccoli, General Tso"s chicken, chicken fried rice, fried chicken wings, Krab Rangoon, and egg rolls. Generous helpings, friendly staff, 5 starts!!
All the food tasted the same my spicy chicken was not spicy and bland the beef and broccoli tasted the same as my chicken bland stir fried rice wasn't seasoned either. Despite the food the service was great. Just needs more seasoning
Fuji Restaurant
My fiancé and I loyally order from here when we are craving Chinese food or sushi. Not only does the food always hit the spot, but their service is amazing. When I informed the woman working at the front of my gluten sensitivity, she took time to run through every ingredient and its contents and triple checked there would be no contamination (who knew imitation crab had gluten?). They took my sensitivity very seriously and I’m extremely grateful for that, as this service is rare.
I have gotten take out at Fuji for years and the food was always terrific. I got take out today from there and was extremely disappointed. Firstly any pork fried rice does not have carrots in it.! Fillers, no onion no green onion like it used to have.Terrible! Spare ribs very fatty and tasteless . Singapore mei fun was under cooked curry. 2 shrimp all chicken. Not the same. Are their different owners now?? Seems so. Very disappointed
Misimi - Hibachi. Asian Fusion. Sushi. Bar
I can’t believe I live so close and just discovered Misimi! This spot is tucked away in the back of a plaza on a busy road, and I’m so glad we finally gave it a try. We’ll definitely be back often! The menu is packed with Asian fusion options, so there’s always something new to try. The homemade crab Rangoon and duck bao bun specials really stood out for us. We have high standards for bao buns, and these were perfect—soft, fluffy, and not dry at all! The ambiance was also a pleasant surprise—such a beautiful setting for a hibachi night. Our server was fantastic, even suggesting we try the garlic aioli with the bao buns, which was a total game-changer. They also have great lunch and happy hour deals that make it even better. I can’t say enough good things about this place—it’s a must-try!
Not sure how this place is still open with the way they operate their business. They scam people so if you dine in you get a normal portion size but if you ever order for take out as my family did TWICE they give you what looks like someone else’s left overs. I was wrong to go back a second time after the first issue. Today I called my order in and the women asked me about my order three times and I clarified multiple times. When I showed up to pick it up I opened the bag because I had a terrible experience last time and it was missing one whole hibachi plate. They had me wait 10 mins to make the additional plate for my order. Once I got home I opened the bag and JUST LIKE LAST TIME what they did was open the one plate and split the salmon and steak to make the second order that they forgot!! I called in and spoke to “bow or Boa” who is apparently the owner and he was very rude and stated that it was pretty much ok they did that because they didn’t charge me for the plate that they forgot initially!! He then proceeded to text me rudely after I sent photos of the order telling to come pick up my money and to never return there again as if I would ever! Do not go to a place like this terrible customer service, dishonest and scammers charging full price and giving you crumbs!!!
Wild Kanji Hibachi & Bistro
Went for hibachi for a Christmas party.. I don’t even eat hibachi, I ordered off their menu, but these men went above and beyond to make sure our group of almost 20 had an absolute blast!! It happened to be my birthday, so one of our hibachi chefs made a 36 on his grill and lit it on fire, they sang happy birthday and brought me a complimentary slice of cake. The chefs also kept the sake FLOWING and the entertainment high the entire night. I ordered sushi, crab Rangoons, and pineapple fried rice off the menu. All three were excellent, and my pineapple fried rice came served inside half of the hollowed out pineapple. Such a nice touch I have never previously seen. Given the two main hibachi choices in Shelton, I would say Wild Kanji is the obvious choice!
Definitely a fun, easy-going experience. For my first time having hibachi, I was relaxed and entertained. While the food isn't blow your socks off good, it's still very fresh and delicious. Well worth the price of admission. Generous portions, friendly staff, clean restaurant, quality food and talented chefs.
Little Barn
Let's Do It. Went for a late lunch with a friend. The apps were fantastic. We had the Reuben Eggs and Calamari. For dinner, I had a shrimp bowl, and my friend ordered the Southwest Salad. We split a piece of cheesecake for desert and called it a day. The service was great. To be honest, the food is just ok. Go check it out
Service was polite but the food was just ok. The calamari was the only thing that was perfect. Tender and crispy and the lemon aioli that went with it was quite nice. We also got the crispy shrimp bowl and California chicken wrap. Presentation on lunch entrees was nice but the dishes weren’t flavorful and the requested chipotle mayo wasn’t spicy at all. Avocado in the wrap wasn’t good quality either and ruined the bite. The pickle that came with the wrap was warm and soggy instead of cool and crisp. The shrimp rice bowl had unseasoned rice and the sauce that came with didn’t seem to be what was described in the menu. This place could be great with a little more effort in the kitchen and attention to detail. Plus side is there is plenty of parking.
Plaza Diner Restaurant
Great place. We go to this restaurant for decades. Food is always delicious. They are open last nights.
I felt at home at this diner. The food exceeded my expectations including the desert. I had a lobster grilled cheese sandwich which was heavenly and the lemon cake was delectable. I hope to enjoy dinner tomorrow night before I have to head home tomorrow. Before I left I just had to try the French toast muffin and it was scrumptious. I highly recommend the French toast muffin with a glass of riesling cold at the Plaza Diner. They also have a full bar if you enjoy a drink with your dinner. Day 2 I had the stuffed shrimp and I tried multiple different desserts and my favorite was hands down the baklava. This is a must try heated with honey. I enjoyed the shrimp nachos more than the dinner. It is a dinner in itself. Once again I highly recommend the Plaza Diner. I’m going back home so I will not be trying more food until I return.
I Luv PHO Vietnamese Noodle House
Best pho I ever had. Didn’t even need the condiments but it enhanced it. 10 out of 10 meal! Comforting and so flavorful. Fried chicken was one of a kind also. I plan on gatekeeping this spot as long as I can lol.
Nice peaceful pho place. Easy to park. Very clean, and the service was nice.
