By far one of the best Chinese food restaurants. Let me repeat that, one of the best Chinese food restaurants. Everything is made to order and is fresh. None of these mystery meat meals; the chicken is chunks of fresh white meat. The food is full of flavor, and the portion is just more than enough, leaving you satisfied!! I shouldn't even be writing this because my wait times are already long enough, coming in around 50 minutes or so.

Food was excellent and very healthy. I had the chicken and broccoli combination platter. It was some of the best I ever had. Chicken was nice and tender and very crispy. Broccoli and carrots were very delicious. Definitely will be going back. House of Chao is my new favorite Chinese restaurant. Would recommend to anyone who is passing through the Westville New Haven area and looking for good quality Chinese food 👍👍

Six of us met for lunch on a Saturday. The place has been through several owners. The decor is beautiful with flowers and classic teapots on display. We were promptly seated. Server came right over with menus. Drink orders were quickly taken and served. There were several servers helping us. Two of us got the special “Initial Roll” plus avocado salad. My wife ordered the pineapple fried rice. Others had sushi and tempura. All was delicious. We will definitely come back again.

i loved this place! the interior was really pretty and the service was super quick as well, at least when i went. the food there was so so so delicious. don't regret stopping here at all. prices are also really fair and overall cheap for most people. nice atmosphere and staff.

We ordered takeout. The food was average, almost like Americanized Chinese food of the 1960s. Spices were off or something.

Usually, I do not leave negative reviews, but they hung up on me over the phone when I asked to pay with a card. They said cash only and abruptly hung up. I wanted to try their food and normally use Apple Pay, so I did not have cash. I guess it's okay that they do not accept cards, but the abrupt hang-up made me laugh. I was surprised by it, and so I think a one-star review is appropriate for now.

The worse service ever. The service was so bad, my food is not even warm, it’s cold. The food was delivered a hr after it was ordered. The person who took my order along with the person delivering were rude. Then to top it all off, they gave me the wrong order; I got some soggy ass fried chicken instead of the general tso I ordered…which probably wouldn’t have happened if the guy didn’t have an attitude while I was ordering. The only thing they got right was French fries and a side of sweet and sour chicken that was cold. NEVER AGAIN 👎

Food was edible and that’s all I can say about it. Was not enjoyable in any way though. Flavor wise the fish wasn’t what I wanted it to be but I really tried to mind over matter it. But it wasn’t good. The sweet potato roll had a lot of filling which, while generous, was actually too much for what it was. Wish it were crispier as well but I know some of that is lost in delivery. Sushi did look like whoever rolled it had never rolled sushi before. Lastly, the delivery driver did not call, text, or update on grubhub that it was delivered, but after reading other reviews, I went outside and it was there, on my porch. Delivery driver should be letting people know when it’s delivered.

I don't usually write comments, but I've tried different sushi places in New Haven, and this is the best one. The order is prepared fast, and it doesn’t impact the quality. The portion sizes and packaging for delivery are always prepared with care, and the miso soup is so hot that it’s still warm when it arrives! This place truly takes care of its customers and I don’t understand why some ratings are poor. Thank you to the manager, the team who prepared in Philadelphia, California sushi, and the miso soup. This use to be my favorite spot for 5 years but after yesterday I do not recommend their service or food quality. I simply called for a food replacement due to hair in my food and a food item they forgot to place in my order. At first I was transferred to the manager and was told I’d receive a replacement and the missing food item. Five minutes later, I was called by one of their workers, being insulted and screamed that I am a liar, since I claimed there was hair in the food.

The food is very good. They are very nice and the food is always freshly made, I love that you can see them making it. If I ever want Chinese, I always go here in New Haven.

I ordered on uber eats they told me to either cancel the order or order somethung else I tried to cancel the order and instead of providing me with a refund they took 17.94 from me for two eggrolls screw this place don’t go here.

I don't Understand why this place has a little bit of likes because there food is so good and the Customer service is great too and delivery person is so kind and very Professional . I get some people would be like no it's in the hood but there are so many good places to eat don't sleep on them Meaning don't Judge a book by its cover Anyways it was almost 😴 closing time and I called late and they still made my food fresh and it was so yummy 😋 😌 ☺️ I was happy ok Vegetable L Main and Chicken wings with garlic sauce and Crab ragoon it was SO GOOD 👍 😋. SO PEOPLE GIVE THEM A CHANCE AND IF YOU WANT IT FRENCH ITS OK TO ASK NICELY OK 💜🫰🏽🥰

I ordered shrimp lomain with boneless spare ribs and my ribs were mixed with rice like it was reused. Manager didn't want to remake it because she felt like it was fine. Poor service. Why do I have to debate over something I paid for!

The food there is very delicious 😋 😍. Oh my, I ordered 2 general tossed chicken 🐔 😋 . It was so delicious and the service was great. The lady was super, super nice . And the young gentleman was very kind.

I was going to order from Imperial Wok on Howard Ave but their prices are expensive as a walk in. I’m stationed at work and can’t leave and so I needed delivery. I wanted something quick but cheaper… not cheap, quick and nasty 🤦🏽‍♀️ Don’t ever improvise price over quality… Sad mistake!! $2-3 and location of restaurant make a huge difference. The food came extremely quick and I paid the same price for food I could I could have picked up and it was horrible and I tipped the driver There is no flavor. There aren’t even any carrots and there is no gravy sauce JUST OIL!!! see photos. I am completely dissatisfied and I rarely eat Chinese food and because of this location it will be a long time again before I do. I’ll go to Imperial Wok and pay the extra money.
